[Q] Touchscreen doesnt work anymore... - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Folks,
today the Touchscreen of my DHD stopped to work completely. Its fully unrooted, and right at the Moment i use LeedDroid 2.2.2.
My DHD was sold from O2 Germany...
Do i have the chance to unroot it fully without Touchscreen? I am able to boot my DHD into CWM.
Or maybe someone has another Tip what i can do in that Situation?
Many thanx in advance...

try a wipe (factory reset), and if that doesn't help flash the rom again.

If the hardware is dead you can flash back to stock via ADB.
ex here but via ADB:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=998044
Go in the ROM thread in the stickies and check the guide to install custom ROM.
Then redo on the other way (it's explained).
Of course if the previous post works (wipe+fresh install) it's much better

Factory-Reset and Installation of a new Rom i already tried with no success.
And i think a Flash-Back of Stock wont be a Problem... The Problem is,that i now cannot change the Super-CID...
Any other Tips?

[Q] My DHD won't do a hard reset!

I have a Desire HD and to try fixing my poor gps I installed an older ROM (1.32), to see if that makes any difference. I didn't...
Now I want to send my phone to HTC for repair, but I want to do a factory reset first.
The problem is that it won't reset. I can select the reset, click through the warnings and the phone resets, but it simply restarts.
When I try to reset in the bootloader, the same happens.
Can anyone give me some tips?
In order to install an older ROM, I had to root my phone. Unfortunately, I can't remember the precise steps I followed to root it.
I tried some methods (psneuter/Visionary/ClockworkMod), but I can't tell which eventually did the trick.
Please help!
So you already tried flashing a stock RUU? 1.32 or 1.72 This should be the easiest way to reset your phone including unrooting etc. You can find these here Stock + RUU
Another way if you still have CWM installed and root / s-off / eng-off, you can use fullwipe.zip. easy wipe
But you need a ROM to install from your SD card.
You better go back to a stock ROM before sending in your device, warranty issues!

I just installed the newest stock ROM, and it works like a charm!
Thanks for the tip. Guess I didn't search the forum hard enough
No problem!
You're welcome!

Defy is almost dead. Please help!

Hi guys!
I had MIUI on my defy, then I tried to delete it and install Android back on it. I wiped data in boot menu, but now I cannot install anything on it.
I can load boot menu but after reboot Defy stucks on Moto Logo even though I installed MIUI back.
Please, can anybody explain me how can I solve this? I need to install Android 2.2 (I've already downloaded it) or at least MIUI.
THANKS,
Vlad!

Best is that you flash a full sbf (using RSDLITE) to a stock 2.2.2 ROM (Nordic). When that's done, it should boot, if not, try out some different roms (but make sure to stay around the 2.x area in order to keep the downgradability).
Whookid,
Thanks!
I've read the how-to guide, but still cannot understand what SBF is - is it just a ROM or something else ? If so how do I get it? I tried to connect phone to RSD but it cannot see the device..
Hi vladqwe,
this thread should solve your confusion

[Q] Google apps on Cyanogen 7.1 booted as recovery update as the only possible option

Hi everybody,
After unlucky rooting process I've got problem with installing new rom with traditional way. Then I found thread about booting from sdcard having recovery access at my disposal only. This is great idea to have phone working again, but unfortunately it is pain to live without all google apps installed. I tried to install this packages from WIKI (gapps...) but this didn't work.
Desire Z is visible as rooted but unlocked (by HTCDEV tool) and with S-ON. Any ROM update I do goes fine up to the final phone restart. The only white screen with original HTC is lighting without any further change.
I do appreciate if any volunteer could give me a bit of support to get my phone working back.
[I've got my phone back with all functionality by booting ROM - _WWE-2.42.405.2-signed.zip. This fixed my problem and now I can work to make phone as S-OFF]
you need to be S-OFF at first. then you can flash roms.
There are many many tutorials how to get S-OFF.
Best and good luck,
Blubberor

[Q] Official stock rom Help?

First of all, yes, I am an idiot, and yes, I have looked through the forums but just have to make sure I am downloading the correct thing.
So, a while ago, I rooted my t-mobile galaxy s3.
Today, I wanted to download a root-compatible app, it didn't work, turns out that my root somehow became disabled ( I might have accidentally wiped the superuser binaries)
So, I try to re-root my phone...several times. I finally think I have it rooted (using the official xda guide on how to root), and everything was fine, until i try to use superuser and it turns out that I am not rooted...for whatever reason. I do a hard reset a couple of times, it still shows that I am running alternate software and cannot update. I try to flash a stock rom to my phone, and that just simply fails on odin.
Now, I have completely formatted the SD and internal storage (probably very stupid), and I am just wondering how I could possibly flash a stock rom onto my phone, and if you could please link one because I believe the one I tried was not for my device.
If not, please provide some suggestions on what I should do. My device works, so it's not really time-sensitive, but I do want to re-root my android after I revert to stock roms, properly this time.
Thank you for your time and help!
Fixed
Fixed the problem, will be posting tutorial in the morning for anyone who might have the same issues!
Waiting for u!!

[SOLVED] [Q] Help - getting stuck on boot screen after trying to revert from JB to GB

Hi guys.. I tried installing jelly bean on this device (i8160p and it's not mine) using odin and a stock 4.1 rom I got from samsung updates(I have no root and I went from a never-touched stock)... All went fine, It's working and has all the features. Except that now its owner is asking me constantly to revert back to the original os, since he did find 4.1.2 very slow. So I went back the same path as in the first place in an attempt to get the original gingerbread : I downloaded a stock 2.3 from the site and then tried flashing it.. All again went smooth, with no problems, until I got stuck on the bootscreen and noticed that there was no way to access recovery(download mode working fine though)... So what I'm left with now is a non-booting gingerbreak or the possibility to stay in jellybean(flashing it still works), I'd prefer if I could go back to GB; I think the problem is that there was some conflict caused by jellybean which will require a reset that I can't of course do since I can't boot into recovery, and I don't see any way to install a custom recovery. So can this be done any other way, I'm afraid I'll break this phone before I'll even come up with anything since this is my first experience with roms and boot on an android;
info : as I mentioned There is no root (for now. I might however get into that from jellybean, but I'd rather not if it's possible) and the model is i8160P . an emphasis on the P here since it's the reason I can't find any custom roms, and all I'm left with is the stuff in here
Edit : got gingerbread back after following what angrybb has suggested
Flash the working JB, and after that root your phone like here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2139263 Reboot to recovery and after that follow the howto: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2352064 just in step 8 use original gb firmware.
If you can't get adb root access from stock recovery then flash kernel with cwm, for jb for example this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2304432 or this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2171054
After flashing one of those kernel, again follow: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2352064 , again in step 8 use gb fw
Ok I'll see
Thanks man I'll try what you suggested as soon a I can...
I have a question though: now I noticed that some people fixed this issue by dowloading some other parts (.pit and something else), but of course I'm unable to find these for the model with the P... Now If someone can please tell me if these files have anything to do with the re-partion option in odin(I heard that it does format everything and not just put things on top of things).... Is using it safe given that I don't mind losing data, or should I stay away from it ?
For angrybb : the phone still shows as i8160p in the about section and has access to network...
Here there is a lot talking about pit files, some tehniques with flashing one fw after another, but with no real explanation why this should be done this way. I dont like doing things like that, i want to understand what i am doing. I still haven found some in depth info about pit files.
Anyway, i upgraded from GB to JB with kies, after that i compared some parts of fw and pit file is not changed. Pit from GB and JB have same md5 in my phone, so it is the exactly same file.
I know that method i suggested is not short and plain easy but it is tested and working.
Thanks
Sorry for the delay... For anyone with same problem just follow what angrybb has suggested, but do not under any circumstances ignore backing-up CSPSA_FS and MODEM_FS if you care about your phone's ability to make calls !
hey, maybe you guys could also help me out? i came from a custom ROM that i was having problems with so I wanted to go to an official ROM instead. Originally i came from a GB stock ROM, then i went straight to CM 10.1 but i didnt have any signal on my phone so i tried flashing original stock 4.1.2, now im stuck on the boot screen and i cant access recovery mode. please help?
