This is a question for all of the Xoom owners out there, I was wondering how long the charging cable that comes with the Xoom is. I'd like to use the device while lounging on my bed but my nearest AC outlet is about 6 feet away.
Haven't measured mine, but its at least 6 feet

Don't know exactly but its pretty long for a charger. I guess its around 6 feet. You can always buy a connector though

Sweet, that's awesome!
Another question on the subject. What about the charger? Does it handle 230v with a converter (Maybe the converter is even included in the box?). I pre-ordered one from B&H Photo (since they are among the rare US companies that actually acknowledge there is a world outside the borders ;-) ) and would like to know if I will be able to use the charger in Europe or not.

You could always use an extension cord to get it closer to the bed.
The battery life is great. I don't really think u will need to have it plugged in.

Does a usb extension cable carry the same amount of juice as the original cable?
I.E. if I use an extension paired with my original samsung wall charger, do I lose anything in terms of charging rate?
I actually use a usb extension cable when I charge at home and it seems to work just fine.
I bought a 10 ft cable off of Amazon for like 3 bucks. Works great for charging data though... Yeah no, at least not when I last tried it

Anyone use a Powermat to charge their phone? it looks like the usb attachment doesn't make it register like it's charging?
I have the same problem with USB charging. Neither my PC nor my Macbook Pro will charge the phone. It says charging, but the battery continues to drain. I noticed on my mac the USB port is only providing 500mA. The plug-in charger that came with the phone says 1.0 amp (1000ma).
I have a powermat too, but you need a special back cover on the phone to get it to charge this way, even that's even going to be an option on this phone.

I initially had problems when using the power cube as well. This was a little surprising since its output was 1A which was the same as chargers which worked well. I decided to try using a different mini to micro usb adapter than the one which comes with the power cube. Once I switched adapters, the powermat worked perfectly.

You would ask that. I found the packaging and it's an Adapti. It's just a cheap adapter that I bought from the local Fred Meyer (a department store chain in the Pacific Northwest) about a year and a half ago. It also came a mini-usb to iPhone adapter.
Hopefully this helps. You should be able to find an adapter that works.

I just placed an order for this on Google Play. It says
"Totally wireless charging.
With the Nexus Wireless Charger, your new Nexus 7 becomes the first truly wireless tablet. No more messing around with wires, cables and plugs as€“ your tablet just fits into place on the magnetic face and begins charging. The Nexus Wireless Charger adheres securely to any surface, such as your desk, counter top or bedside table, which means“ the convenience of grab-and-go charging is always within easy reach."
Nothing about whether it will be suitable for use as a car cradle. We will see.
Here is a mini review.
I'm looking at it right now and wondering whether or not I'd actually use it. I have the Nexus 4 charging orb, and a Nokia DT900 (or whatever the lay-down version is called). I use the orb at work while I listen to music and the DT900 at home while sitting in my recliner watching TV/playing games. If I bought another charger, it would probably be my bed-side charger. In that case, I almost would rather buy another orb because of the angle it provides. I can fit my Nexus 7 on the orb as long as it's in landscape orientation, which is probably how I'd have it anyway. Decisions, decisions...

Not sure about that, never had a wireless charger or a phone capable of it before. While it does seem like something practical that I would like, the chargers themselves are too expensive for me to feel like its truly worth it. I'll stick to my usb charger.

Bought this when it was on sale for like $14.99 by the same primo-superstore guys. Great qi charger. It does BEEP when you first put the phone on but doesn't keep BEEPING once the phone is fully charged like some others.
Very low noise beep tho', so not really a big deal. There's also a tiny LED light on the front of the charger for indication. It did not come with an AC adapter so you'll have to supply one. But it did came with a long and a short micro USB cable. I suppose one is for connecting to a wall charger and the other one for your computer. It does charge just phone if you hook it up to the computer USB port, although much slower.
Best $15 buck I spent all year.
Bought the same or similar one from FastTech and am waiting for it to come in. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Does it keep the Nexus 5 at 100% when you charge it overnight or does it completely stop charging once it reaches 100%. Does the phone/battery get hot when using this charger?
Ya it works with my digitronic case no problem and the beep actually really helps letting you know its charging. Ya I know there is no brand and sorry for the bad link but I have both the official nexus charger and this one seems way better I can just set it down hear the beep and its good to go where the nexus charger I always have to double check the placement when I put it down.

What happens when the phone reaches 100% and you leave it on the charger (As would happen when you're charging it overnight). Does the charge remain at 100%?

Yes it remains at 100% and does not beep all night like other ones it has been working great so far. I read a lot of people having trouble with these types of chargers they would charge then it gos to 99% then back to full and beeps on a cycle all night long but I have not experienced that with this charger. I don't know if this one on amazon is different then other ones sold on eBay they all look the same but so far the one from amazon is good. I'm almost thinking about returning the nexus charger to Google because I don't use it anymore.

I bought one too and I like it a lot. I can charge my nexus 5 (via Qi), Nexus 7 FHD (USB, 2.1A) and Dell Venue 8 pro (usb, 1A) simultaneously while charging the internal battery.
Just ordered one. It says 17-28 days, which is a while, but I'm not in a hurry
Does it have the magnets though that the nexus charger has? That's really why I wanted to buy the nexus one.
I got this last week. I used velcro to stick it to my car mount. I had to remove the rubber rings from the top and bottom to make this work.
It does not have magnets. The magnets in the official charger set it apart from most other Qi chargers.
It works well with my Dizitronic TPU case
FYI - Here's the Fasttech model. I can confirm that this works with both the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. Fast charging, and no beeping all night. For those people having trouble with beeping, try being more precise with placement... I find on the Nexus 4, that if I put the charger dead center on the body of the phone, it will beep continuously. If I offset the charger about 1/2" towards the micro-USB port on the phone, the beeping stops and it charges perfectly. The Nexus 5 seems less picky about placement, the sweet spot seems to be quite large in comparison.
Anyway, here it is: http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10006012/1462103-t200-qi-wireless-charging-plate
I bought two, and really need to buy about five more. They're awesome.
Oh, and to answer someone else's question, no magnets for the N5... but flat on a desk and with the large sweet spot, it doesn't seem to matter.
I have this one too. It's worked well for me as a magnetic car dock (had to add the magnets). I hated the Beep sound whenever it became misaligned so I popped it open and found the speaker.
It's the tall black thing in the middle-left of the attached image. If you pop off the top plastic lid of that little black thing you can remove the little metal circle that sits inside it and it stops the beeping. If that's an issue for anyone else...
Hi. I bought the same and works well. I think the bip sound is a good thing because sometimes the position from the phone is incorrect. In this case no bip

There's already several tutorials on how to do it. But I bought these from Amazon and they work great. Needs non-slip grip though so I used one of those silicon Smartgrip dash mats I bought at the container store on top of the magnets. Works great. Here's the tutorial I used though. Very pricey, I want it. I'll have to see catch it at a deal.
The Tylt definitely is a looker, but I can't justify spending that much on a charger.
I just want something around $15 - $25 that outputs higher than 1A... I want to at least attempt to come close to the max Qi for the Nexus 5.
The cheap $15 one I have right now is 1A max output (so less of course) and I'd say it charges a little over half as fast as the stock charger.
I don't want to spend higher than that for essentially a glorified usb cable.
Missed out on the tylt deal (also already have the nexus) so I couldnt get one. So trying the diy route
Yeah I'm with you guys, they definitely charge a premium for it. I missed out on the sale too but bought it anyway and I'm glad I did. Ahhh the heat thing. Yeah, that *can* degrade the performance of a battery over an extended period of time, but I don't see that being a major concern. Your phone gets warmer during gaming sessions or just browsing the web than it does when on a wireless charger so the argument can be made that it's worse for the battery to actually use the phone than to charge it wirelessly. That said, at least in my experience, my TYLT charger doesn't make my N5 or N7 warm at all. And my N5 is on it all the time. Bottom line- use your phone the way you want to, you're going to be upgrading long before your battery dies anyway.
Slightly OT, but does it matter if you plug in your Qi charger into a USB 2.0 port on a computer, or do you need to use a USB 3.0?
I know that the mAh of USB 2.0 is something like only 500mAh, but I believe it still supplies the same 5V as USB 3.0 would. Would a Qi charger go by the 5V input, or would is use the 500mAh max draw rendering the charge time absolutely horrendous?
I don't really know how it works too well. I have my Qi charger plugged into a USB port on my power bar for my night stand. But I'd like to have 2 more, 1 for my desk (hooked to my desktop computer) and another for my notebook.
