Ok so I plugged in my phone to the computer and adb didn't work. I tried really installing the sdk along with adb but no luck I get an error when doing "adb devices" it stays "devices found" and like when I type "adb shell" it says no devices found? Any ideas on why this is happening?

I'm having the same issues. I can see the driver that is needed to be installed but it will not let me do so. It keeps saying that the driver can not be found... Is there anything else I need to install so I can root my slide?
Are all you guys running windows 7? Windows 7 has issues w/ these drivers. There was a thread somewhere in the q&a section that has a link to the working drivers. The thread was called "waiting for device" I think. Those drivers helped me w/ adb on win 7 x64

I would try it anyways, since 7 is based on vista, and vista drivers work w/ windows 7

I found an apk of flash 10.1, it installed successfully through adb, but when I tried to open any browser, it would eventually return to the home screen. Uninstall through adb resolved the issue.
Anyone know a work around to get it going?

You need to download and install the pdanet app on your laptop. Do a Google search. It should be easy to find. There are different versions depending what OS you are running.

Easy Tether also works. I have yet to try PDA Net even though I have it installed.

Pdanet also installs the adb drivers necessary for the g2 so you can get screen caps thru the dalvik debug monitor if you have the sdk

I have pdanet and easy tether. There both pretty simple and easy to use. Pda installs the drivers but easy tether costs less. Easy tether was the only one that recognized the adb on my phone to computer and actually allowed me to command prompt into my phone so I can root it. So they are both good id say

Okay so cm6 it is but usin update.zip the rom manager app which allows cm6 and universal androot to root so it works why is it my phone won't verify the signature of update.zip when I'm in clockwork recovery to update to it and perm root

The universal androot does not work on our phones. Signature verification will fail unless you go through an actual root method.

What do you mean 'slight spacing adjustment'? Most code people put up on here is posted exactly how it should be entered - if not, others post the correction and it's changed. If there is a space LEAVE IT, it's supposed to be there. If there are 2 spaces, then just delete one because it's a mistake. If there is no space - don't put one in.

There's only ONE working method, the one by Nbetcher.
The Unlockr method does NOT work.
The old method by Eugene_373 does NOT work.
The universal androot method does NOT work.

I've already got the 3 files on the Mac OS X. (Modem, Kernal, and ROM). They are extracted as md5.
Now here's my problem, when I try putting my phone in Download mode, it's like it won't connect to the Mac and I get a message on the laptop saying "(Gadget {something} is not configured.) (I forgot the second part to Gadget) Anyways, I click on configure, and it tells me to put in some info like: Account, password etc. Now I'm not paying the bill, so I don't know the account or password. I tried checking some options for USB settings. I tried connecting with debugging on and off. Still nothing.
Again, I have the files and everything I need, my problem is connecting while in download mode.
Maybe there's another method for installing a Root on the Epic 4G while using Mac?
Help is greatly appreciated.

Wait! I didn't install the Samsung/ANDROID Drivers, because this Mac isn't mine, so I don't know how. Maybe thats the problem?
Can someone please explain how to install the Samsung/Android Kies to a Mac?!?

I booted into windows to root so I doubt ill be much help. First of all OSX recognizes my epic without drivers. Second, odin does not work on OSX and as I understand you have to use a program called heimdal. In general I've found rooting much easier in windows.

So the other day I was tethering to my PC I disconnected to go eat cake back and now it won't connect to any computer. I really need to get this fixed. Thanks for the help in advanced.

You could try reinstalling the lg drivers on the computer. Is it recognized in windows device manager or does is not come up there as well?
Yeah, I just recently had this problem as well, except I didn't get to eat cake :[. Mine does show up in device manager, but not in drives/storage. I've been having to upload everything via dropbox or adb. I was on cm11 with cwmr and switched to cmremix and also switched to the philz touch, logically I think it might be one of those or a combination of the two that did it, but I can't be sure cause I know how my phone can just be finicky sometimes.
Edit: I did try updating to the latest lg driver and that didn't help.
I'm getting this also, I use airdroid or TeamViewer instead as a workaround
