HTC Pyramid = EVO2 ? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The HTC Pyramid, a 4.3 inch device that will be powered by a dual core 1.2GHz processor, running the newest Android OS "Ice Cream"

I love how the screen takes up the whole phone, and no big ugly bezels, looks sleek and thin.

Bezel = frame surrounding the screen. Like on monitors the black plastic casing around the LCD, or the iPhone, the huge black part above and below the screen.

Ohh ha the iPhone. You're always holding it wrong hahaha got love CM FAX.

I dunno....but looking at the picture, it seems there is a bezel.

Still a frame but that thing is pushing those edges.
Phone is total sex.

ahh so this is the phone you mentioned to me i have a feeling this is the evo 2

I hope it's not, I think it's ugly. looks like a big hero/nexus thing.
Sent from my calculator watch.

Might be the Evo 3D. Makes sense. A pyramid is a 3 dimensional geometric shape. And those specs are similar to the Optimus 3D, so it should have powerful enough hardware to do it. Hmmm... Now, I'm kind of excited for CTIA.

It's supposed to go to TMOBILE but hopefully it goes to sprint, it's a nice ass phone.

This. It is a GSM phone and supposedly destined for TMO. Sprint is CDMA so it will not work on Sprint's network.

I've got friends and T-Mobile and their internal communications confirm that this is coming to T-Mobile but there is some confusion that it might be a multiple-standard phone (eg, GSM+CMDA) so it might come to Sprint all at the same time.

pyramid
i want this phone already.hoping and wishing and from what ive been reading going to tmobile. t mobile has to get this phone..my touch 4g is good and all but just isnt great. sprint got the evo and now the inspire for at&t and thunderbolt for verizon..i think it would be great for tmobile like it was for sprint basically attracting new customers to the carrier for the phone(evo)..ive been waiting for a phone like this and i hope it comes with tmobile

Whatever happens, I just hope Sprint gets something as slick looking as this, and of course with the awesome specs to top it all off. I love my Evo to death, but I wouldn't mind upgrading when my rebate comes up in July

Looks = +1
Specs = +2
Phone to tmobile = -4

Confirmed version headed to sprint.....with 3d!
sent from a terminal in the NIGHTLANDS.......

It's possible.
See: Android Central's article on Sprint's expected announcements for CTIA.

Does the epic touch has any diferent software from galaxy s 2 ?

Ok so last year we got all galaxy s phones in major carriers with diferents software , like sms on screen for ATT the look like puzzle in such , I got a unlocked Samsung galaxy s 2, at first I didn't like it but now it actually feels good and probably would like to use as my main device ( sprint is my first carrier) my question is if the software for the phones are the same, I like the lock screen, it looks like windows 7 i can go to my new sms or missed call and music control if I want to , is the epic touch the same ? Thanks

No problem.
If there are specific SGS2 apps you would miss, check for them on a Sprint store E4GT. Some SGS2 apps didn't come over to Sprint (e.g., some of the Samsung apps). And, of course, Sprint added some of their apps onto the E4GT
That said, the overall experience is very similar. I loved the EU SGS2 and feel similarly about the Sprint version.

Samsung Note coming to Sprint

I wonder how many people will jump ship?
http://www.sprintfeed.com/2012/01/rumor-galaxy-note-heading-to-sprint/
wtf! I just bought my SGSII yesterday
CES is next Tuesday if you want to take it back.
got it off cl. I can probably sell it and break even (hopefully).
I knew it i knew it i bet it will have wimax and lte haha cant wait

I personally think its too big, I'm very happy with the E4GT's screen size, its basically perfect for me.
im getting one the same day it comes out, ive been waiting on this
5 inch screen lol. Really?
My only worry is we will have to wait longer for ICS because they will concentrate on the Note. I don't think I will jump ship. Something better is coming the second quarter.
On my Epic mobile phone.
May have to jump on this. One problem might be slower updates than normal due to the modified version of touchwiz that comes along with having the stylus

I would really love to have this bad boy but not on sprint. I will pass until later in the year to see what comes out on not just sprint but other carriers.
Also if sprint does infact put this out then they better put out the full specs and not try to hide the crippling they do aka E4GT. Sprint better be upfront and honest and not try to pull the wool over any eyes this time.
Cant wait until the true hardware specs comes out. Lets see if sprint uses a 6 year old chip in it like they did the E4GT aka cheaped out.

It looks like a version possibly for att has surfaced, but it uses a qualcomm cpu like the tmo gs2, hopefully that is not the case or this would be a downgrade. More display real-estate and pixel density with a lesser cpu, no thanks.
If this turns out to be the exynos, that is going to be a hard decision.

Probably because of the exynos/lte incompatibility. Or is it HSPA+/Exynos incompatibility?

This phone will not sell well here. I have a hard enough time selling the epic touch at best buy because its size.
Actually you know what, if I put the epic, the note, and the iPhone side by side , customers will notice the puny screen on the iphone and go with the gs2 instead

I love my phone but it.s getting a little old
i hope they will release a new good qwerty phone this year.
my wishlist is
bigger screen amoled, it doesn't bother me with the size
better hinges
more power, a real top of the line phone, with hoppefully the same overclocking capability
hdmi out for emulatorgaming
better and faster camera, the focus suxs
and a thick phone with a decent battery, none of this ultrathin crap

I'm also wanting to upgrade this yyear, probably going to get an android tablet next month, in which case, if there isn't a decent phone similar to this by july, ill wait for an iphone 5

the droid 4 looks like they have the right idea, but its to thin, and i dont like when they waste so much space on the front, no need for buttons,
and i dont like when they make some parts of a phone thin and others thick.

As I've said in numerous identical threads, get the MyTouch 4G Slide. We have overclock, our ROMs are mostly Sense-free with CM9 around the corner, and there is no hinge problem.
I don't think mytouch lineup is even available here.. its ugly anyway. Droid 4 would be the phone to get atm, but i'm fine whit DZ for a year more @least..
For more power i'm getting android tablet once the new ones come out. Probably transformer prime, but first, i want to see whats the Lenovo tegra 3 tablet. I would like a proper stylus enabled tablet.

The MT4GS is less than five months old and still a top-of-the-line device that's beaten the Galaxy Nexus in an Antutu benchmark test.

WP7

I got sick of my BB Curve 3G that i use for work, so I picked up an HTC Surround off of Ebay for 100 bucks.
I just got it yesterday and haven't even update to7.5 yet. So far I have been impressed.
I don't see me leaving Android and my E4GT. However, it's nice to pick up another phone on another OS to play with.
If you have any WP7 questions I'll try to answer then as I get more aquainted with the os.

I had an old HTC HD2 lying around (probably the most-hackable phone even more than the EVO). I ran everything from GB to ICS to Ubuntu but by far the best OS was WP7.5. Runs so smooth, and the animations are beautiful.

Glad to hear your enjoying WP7. You definitely need to update to 7.5, even better. I have a Focus on ATT as a back up phone and I love the OS.
I've had six Android devices (purely a hardware choice - AMOLED, dual core, etc.) choice. I must say that ICS has changed my feelings toward Android, I actually like the look and feel of 4.04. In fact just got the GSIII and love it.
Are you considering moving from your GSII to the GSIII? The Epic Touch is a great phone but the Galaxy SIII is outstanding. Just my very humble opinion.

7.5 is a definite upgrade. I don't like it as much as 4.0.4, but it is nice and smooth.

Widows Phone. Fun toy but not really there yet.
I have a few buddies with wp7 but I have not ever come close to thinking about leaving android. As far as customization goes android can not be beat. Windows phone is a nice alternative to the iphone, but has nothing on android. I have used both and that is a phone for novice users.

Need your opinions...

So right now I have an evo4g lte (not a thing wrong with it). Sprint sent me a white galaxy s3 (refurb) with only 15 total life calls on it and less than an hour of use. It only came with a charger. It was basically sprint saying, hey sorry for a messup try out this phone if you don't like it send it back...or keep it and send back evo.
Questions...
When I got the evo I purchased best buys buyback on the evo. Wouldn't I lose the buyback on the evo ? What's the best deal to not lose money? (got evo on release day)
Why would a refurb have such little use and are refurbs a concern?
My next upgrade is Feb 2014.
I've took a look already of what others said pros and cons are.
Just looking for advice from community to come to a decision
Thanks!
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Stick with the s3 man you won't be disappointed. Night and day difference in quality and performance over your evo.. Buyback plan may switch to the s3 since they sent it to you but I'm not sure. You made money off this deal by them sending you that phone regardless of it being refurb. I've rarely had an issue with any refurbished devices.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
Why is Sprint sending you a reverb when your evo has nothing wrong with it?
Aside from that it's your personal opinion on which one you like more. I can't stand HTC phones so I'm no help.

Wow lucky person lol. I'd stick with the gs3 but I'm biased. My wife's old evo ruined HTC for me.

The S3 is better than the Evo LTE in my opinion. I also can't stand Sense or HTC support. Its not a huge upgrade though. I would talk to Best Buy about how much they would give you etc. But just to be very clear the S3 has better hardware and software and will get upgrades for Android faster and more often.

Gotcha....
I guess my only concerns now is it appears if the phone is replaced and the buy back isn't attached to the esn then you lose out in the program if I take the galaxy...or keep what I have for another year and figure that I won't be paying out if pocket a whole lot of money for the next greatest thing.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Well here's my opinion on the gs3 or evo lte why I got the gs3 was one the fact that I can't stand not being able to switch batterys if needed but other than that they have just about the same specs and I just liked the look of the gs3 better and flip covers they look so cool right haha just wish Samsung made black gs3 for sprint
