Hi - it is not actually funny but here it is:
i have desire with 1.15 stock rooted rom with no additional mods
i am syncing my exchange account with contacts/emails/calendar
randomly (have no idea if it is regarding syncing) phone is beeping with default notification sound - screen is blank, after unlocking no any notifications. nothing is working in the background.
what the hell?
Mine was doing it found out it was when it was roaming onto the 2G network when it lost the 3G network.

i have forced to use only 2g networks

I have set data connection to "use 2G only" - because in my location i have weak 3G signal, and switching between them is draining battery fast.
But - almost every time when i reboot phone, and (i think) sometimes even without rebootin - it keeps to start using 3G network again - and set is still to "use 2G only"
Do you saw this before?
another funny thing - today my alarm didnt go off.... I was almost late to work :/
i heard that there was some problems with milestone and its alarmclock - can it be happening to Defy too?
Maybe your problem is connected with data delivery and management , is your phone data and background data enabled , whem its updating widgets like facebook and youtube it connect to 3g and updates the widgets information or at least so i think
once my alarm also didnt worked and the phone was 2 days old , it was just bought nothing changed and installed.... really bad and i got late for work

Yep, I have the same thing but after 5-10 minutes it becomes 2G only (2.34.1 CEE)

I still got issue with my data connection, 3g dont work. Does not matter if i have stock room or custom room. The APN setting is correct, anyone who knows why this happends?

i have network/call quality problem when i flash cm10 on my i747m.
When i'm with the stock rom, i disable LTE and my phone display 4g connectivity.
When i use CM10, i can't get the same connectivity (3g displayed.... no 4g, no H+) and I'm getting strange sounds in background while i'm calling someone
My APN is telus and my network setting is manualy set to GSM/WCDMA

Already had One x once (but with manufacture WIFI Problem) ,
I Managed to replace it with a new one ,
Problem is - the Wifi sometimes takes LOOONGGG to connect (if it even see's the AP) - it does not seem to be a Manufacturing problem since once it connects its stable (just a disable/enable to wifi sometimes fixes it).
I Red some threads regarding disabling the 5GHZ Band and using 2.4GHZ Only - however - i do not see it under the Advanced Wifi Settings.
Im on latest NCX Kernel and Viper Rom (2.7.1) - ICS - still no JB for my CID ;(
So - anyway to edit a file or using an app to disable the 5GHZ Scanning / Connection Band?
