After trying most of the rom on my new DHD i found most them have only 20% volume increase hack in them , why is not possible to increase the volume more than that ?
Do you want to break your speakers? There is a limit how much you can increase it...already now, many devs have decreased their volume down 10% because of the problems during call....
Don't see why you want it even louder?
As sphuyal said, why do you want to break your speakers?

Who would want to break their speakers . I'm new to DHD forum so wanted to know why all kernels are limited to 20%. Thanks for clearing up the doubt.

"20%" doesn't mean that the volume at all is limited to 20% but it's limited to 20% over the standard volume. Just to keep your speakers alive....
this was hugely helpful. cleared up my lack of understanding

Hello,
I know all of you have heard this time and time again. I'm sure I'm going to create a huge battle discussion, which I don't want honestly. But I've searched throughout the forums with no luck, and if I've missed this, please direct me and delete the post. So, with that said, hear me out..
I understand apples iPhone's battery tends to last long because of the not so true multitasking, and there are hundreds of ways to make androids battery life significant.
I was just wondering if there was any ROM, kernel, etc to get rid of the "android true multitasking" to increase battery life. Myself as an android user, never tend to use widgets or really have any use for multitasking anyways. I play on facebook, text, and make calls periodically. Anyone want to chime in without blowing my head off on this one?
ICS and JB both have an option under settings/developer options called Background process limit.

Did not know that. Thank you.
Does this increase battery life, that you know of?

It increases a lot, but I personally don't recommend that

Really? Doesn't seem like it would or even that it would increase battery usage since apps have to be restarted every time.
It will definitely free up ram, but that's not really an issue with the GNex.
I should probably also state that I'm on Vicious CM10 w/ stock kernel, and have not yet seen more then 10 hours and 2 hours on screen time.
For my opinion I think depend on lifestyle you use phone

True, but I only use my phone for browsing facebook, xda, and text messaging. I never play games, use youtube, netflix, or any other battery drainer. I also keep 4g off. I would think I could get more then 10 hours and 2 hour screen time with the 2100 mah extended battery (already exchanged for a new, so it's not the battery)
Hi.. just got my g pad few days ago and really loving it personally because of its perfect size, great build quality, and great sound quality (well far better than my note 3 )..
Whats really bugging me though is the relatively low brightness.. its the only darn downside.. So:
Is brightness hardware issue or software? If latter is there any settings or better yet ROMs that offer higher or better brightness?
Thanks!

this definitely has not been brought up before five thousand times, and a search certainly would not help you.

Really?
If you only had 5 posts to your name we would've given you a break, but not 248!!
Search the forum for "brightness problem" and read a few eh?
Seriously, this has been answered too many times to count in this forum. Please use the search utility before posting such a simple question.
Ok sorry.. but believe me i have searched and read all brightness problems and solutions for lg g pad but all i want to know of its possible to increase more of the brightness thru software optimizations or impossible due to hardware fault.. if i have found an answer i would not ask..
All i read about are brightness as dim is dark nothing more stated and the possible ways of increasing it but nothing answers my query..
Sorry to argue with anyone..

Well, if you read the specs for the G Pad and compare it to, say, the Nexus 7, you'll see that the overall brightness capability of the G Pad is quite a bit lower than the highest level for the Nexus. However, since most of us don't run our tablets at the highest level, this is not an issue for most people most of the time. So, to answer your question, it is basically a hardware limitation, but it's not necessarily a problem. I very rarely have an occasion to turn the brightness level above 70%.

Thanks man! Could have been one of the best tab currently if it wasnt for that limitation.. guess we just have to live with it
I have found this issue on all kitkat roms.. The audio skips for a moment when screen is locked.. I know this is a minor issue but irritates me a lot since I listen to a lot of music.. I have seen that nobody talks about this bug.. Does anybody know the fix.. I am using PA rc2.. Great rom..

This is a known bug. Unfortunately, there's no fix as of now.If you increase min clock speed, there is no stuttering, but battery life takes a hit.
Any idea what introduced it since this was not present in 4.3

Nope, not a clue . Maybe someone who is more knowledgeable can answer this question
OK.. Request some known Person to throw some light on this issue..

Two things:
1. Make sure that the screen lock sound isn't enabled. On flashing a new rom, sometimes I'll forget to disable it and since I can't hear it or maybe it doesn't sound, especially when playing music, it'll almost definitely cause the stutter. Otherwise...
2. Like maschiosoosai said, turning up the clock speed will stop the problem altogether. If your kernel supports it, the "screen off max" frequency is the one you'd want to change first. I've found that around 700MHz (clock speeds vary by kernel) the problem goes from every time to about 50% of the time, and around 900MHz it's gone entirely. It's worth a shot, but you really have to be aware of processes keeping your phone awake and eating up your precious battery life if you choose this as a solution.
Honestly, I've found that my personal favorite solution is to not use my device when I'm listening to music. It keeps my battery going longer, and with my battery as used up as it is, it needs all the help it can get
Is this problem specific to 4.4 or just Galaxy Nexus?
Unluckily it also happens to me in all roms
It is a "click" and I'm used to deal with it...
Right now I m using slim 5.9 with fancy kernel .. What I observed was when I use poweramp the audio does not skip but with Apollo it skips

Something to note is that this only seems to happen when listening through the headphone jack. Bluetooth and the phone's speaker don't seem to suffer from this issue.

For me it happens even through the speaker... Don't know about BT, I don't use it...

Happens with the speaker for sure. BT intermittently on my car - may vary depending on head unit.
hi guys
I downloaded the update but it wont install as im rooted. Does anyone know what the update was for and what it improves?
Also does anyone known if you can circumvent the root issue or is it a case of unrooting and installing

It's for battery improvement that's about it and yes you have to unroot not really worth it for that there's meant to be a big update soon i would wait

Oh really? Cool. Any source?
The real question is will it block root (the big update). Any update that removes root isn't worth it.

If you haven't updated think twice. here is my experience.
After the update my screen no longer goes to full brightness, the indicators and icons still say 100% however the screen has gone from 255 to 238 brightness at full. I think this is one of the ways they increased battery life
Note Lux and other brightness settings have not corrected the problem permanently.

They have increased battery life by having much better thermal controls i.e. the phone doesn't get as hot, one of the ways to keep the phone cool (and therefore indirectly increasing battery life) is to lower the brightness.
Keeping the phone cool was their main aim here, not to increase battery life.

Regardless of the reason my phone was perfect before this change and I had no heat issues or battery problems all was great, if you want to change options like this having an extra setting in the power menu would have been the way to go in my personal opinion.
