I have a G2 with build number 1.22.531.8
Do I need to downgrade before attempting to use the "gfree" method?
Edit: Sorry OPs, I put this in the wrong forum please move it accordingly.

No, no need to downgrade.
Only Desire Z's with a firmware > 1.34 need to downgrade

You might want to check out this thread. Also, a lot of the newer guides will require you to read a lot, because they're extremely noob friendly and give instructions step-by-step.
i am sorry. where do i ask about it? and yes i have been reading the sticky's but like i said there is discution about a lot of differant things. i dont know what a custom compared to a stock rom is. and the discussion about the two changes from post to post.

This site won't work for the video? What is wrong? http://myevo4g.net/simple/
EDIT: I think you are the right person I was helping earlier in the simple root thread but lost track of everyone I was helping.
EDIT2: What about this link for the video - http://vimeo.com/13222390
yeah man. thanx for the links . i posted my band and software. letme find the post. 1 sec
I'm new as well and may not be correct on some things.
Unlocking the nand, I believe allows you read/write access to files you otherwise wouldn't be able to.
If you have the OTA 1.47 from sprint then you already have the lastest wimax, radio. You'll have to follow the steps to root it and unlock the nand.
What software version do you have? Baseband?
Can be found by going to Settings>About Phone>Software information
i have 1.47.651.1 baseband is 2.05.00.06.10

So you haven't rooted or anything, right?
If you haven't...watch that video and use simple root. That is the only way to downgrade as of now.
I currently have HBOOT version 0.75....i was just wondering if its possible to upgrade to a higher version and if so how ? are there any advantages to doing this ?
No advantages. At all. No use.

I have already moved a thread of yours from the Development forum to Q&A, at that time you were reminded not to post a question thread in the Development forum.
With that in mind, I'd like to take this opportunity to remind you to read Stop!!!before you post - read this now!!!
Please DO NOT post a new question thread in Development. If you have a question, it should be posted in Q&A.
Thread moved.
Thanks

the new hboot can only be rooted using one method, the version he has, 0.75, that is the same version of mine, and can be rooted using a simple rootedupdate.zip, as well as many other methods... so is it not disadvantageous to upgrade to a newer hboot with greater security for no reason?
thanks for all your replys everyone....ill just stay with 0.75

It will be moved to the Q&A section where it belongs.
Because you failed to read the rules (see links in my sig).
Because everything is already answered and this has absolutely nothing to do with development...
ok after the method that you link what should i do?

Gasan ask in the thread I posted, its specifically there for that purpose.
But be prepared for:
a) You need some rudimentary understanding of computers
b) You need to understand that anything like this has the risk of making your phone unusable (bricked)
c) Read the ENTIRE thread before you expect anyone to help when you ask any questions, I know this is a bit of a pain but we all had to do it once and it will get you more insight into the process and less rage from the people who spend all their time writing and coding this stuff.
Thus endeth the lesson
Good luck mate.

Its not that we don't want to help, firstly this is the development section, you do not post questions here, there is a separate forum for that.
Secondly you need to use the search function, there's a lot of guides and info here to help. You should at least go through them before posting blindly.
Lastly, welcome to the forum, enjoy and respect the rules .

As far as I know you CAN'T root the new 4.22.651.2.........There's about 300 threads on this very subject, did you even search for your answer before you decided to post or did you not read the rules over here at XDA?
If you didn't then take a look at rule#1....

Yes but I didn't know what to search, I'm sorry.

You search for things such as "Root OTA Update HTC EVO" or "4.22.651.2 ROOT"....is not that hard!
Take a look at this link if you don't know what you're doing on here....

I'll show you how to use these forums.....

Downgrading the HTC EVo 4G
MazdaRider23, u really need to unglue urself from the forums, because when u start bitting people's heads off for asking a simple question, this means that either ur an ass or u have been do this too long. The kid simply ask if he was able to downgrade to a more subjective OTA update, like 2.2 or something, but u wrote more chewing him out than it would have taken to say "No u cant" three little words. Maybe u need to start reading as u type so u can hear how u come off. Remember, not all people know the rules and wont know them, because they are happy to be able to root their phones and are too excited to read 10 pages of rules. Just remember that ok?

Uh, the last post in this thread was: 27th June 2011, 09:22 PM
Why did you feel the need to bump this thread today just to attack another user?
Is it possible to root an official rom by HTC (2.3.3) developed as RUU?
After upgrade I used UnRevoked 3.2.2 and it doesn't work. I think that the problem is with HBOOT 1.02.0001. Downgrading to official ROM 2.2 (RUU) doesn't work, so it's impossible to root my phone in the same way as i did it before (on Froyo).
You are the 10th user asking this.
If you flashed the RUU - then NO, not yet.
I see than im not the only one with this problem.
To Administrators - please remove this thread
Yo mods, can we please get a merge of all topics related to this one and then sticky it please.
It should be stick 'cause a lot of people have been ”afected” by this hboot update.
Including me T_T
Stop posting these threads........
I repeat myself -_-
