Hey Guys,
I just got my amazing desire but I have no router at the moment so I'm using connectify.
My first problem with it though is that it could no obtain an ip address so I set a static one and it now connects instantly.
Which leads me to my second problem. It says I'm connected but I still cant load a webpage. I have enabled sharing on my ethernet port an everything so that devices can go through it.
Anyone experienced any problems like this at all?
Thanks,
Percy
You shouldn't have to enable sharing on your eth port, conectify should do all of this for you.
Do have any other devices you could connect with to test?
My only tw other wireless devices are my DS and my DSi and because Connectify only used WPA, my DS's only support WEP so i cannot test it with them
My desire and Connectify
I have the same problem and I'm waitting for any solution. Connected but no browsing >>> I try another device it's working well with my Connectify but my HTC desire connected but no browsing
Hint : I'm using MIUI rom in my htc desire.
Hi,
I can't access to internet with HTC Sync...
I won't have data plan until 7th August, I wanted to use PC internet connexion, as I always did with ActiveSync...
Is there a way to do it ?
thank you
Search Google for the Connectify application and it will allow you to achieve the same thing.

Thank you but I can't use wireless (security breach... @work -_-) I need a usb stuff.
Thank you
Sounds Intresting,
What you asking for if i am correct is an application that would provide your Phone with an Internet Connection via a USB from your PC
(and your PC having the internet connection)
Exactly what I need...
Like Microsoft ActiveSync provide for WM phones
What you are wanting is reverse tethering.
You could maybe try connecting to the desire to an ad-hoc wi-fi network, check this link:
http://www.ott.net/knowledge/htc-desire-adhoc/
You will need to root the phone, install iwconfig from the wifi-tether application, disable wifi, reload the kernel module, set parameters with iwconfig and ifconfig / dhcp and that should work.

I've had problems connecting to my Wifi too, although using the default Wifi manager.
I'll press the wifi button on the power control widget and the wifi icon appears stating it's connected but i can't get any internet. I then have to disable and renable it for it to work.

You have to change your router I had the same probs but my wifi worked at a diff router
Hi all
may be a weird idea...who knows !!
After having made my Htc Desire an Access Point, i'd like to Wifi connect a WRT54GL router ( client mode) , to this particular Acces Point
2 PC's and a satellite decoder are RJ45 connected to the router
The few things I know..
1) default router IP address 192.168.1.1
2)SSID AndroidAP
3) channel used #6
I have almost no idea how to configure the router...help greatly appreciated
thks & rgds
You'll need to configure your WRT54GL as a client bridge. Are you running the stock Linksys firmware, or is it flashed with 3rd party DD-WRT, Tomato, etc? It's been so long since I've messed with anything-stock Linksys, and I'm really not sure that it even supports setup as client/Ethernet-bridge out of box.

1st of all you have to check if your router got option to connect to other wifi networks.
2nd must know whats your Htc Desire ip address is, u can check it in settings -> about phone -> hardware information. Next, you have to configurate your router to the same ip address (of course with different last numer ex: htc desire 192.168.10.12, router: 192.168.10.13). Now connect to htc desire wifi network and now you should have internet through your desire on your PCs and satelite.
That was your point?
@orb3000
Pls excuse my mistake..did not post in right section
@ jermneedscoffe,michallp
changed router firmare to allow client bridge mode
found a way to find Desire's IP adress ( nothing in "about phone" BTW
tweaked a bit the router and finally made the whole thing work...but it seems to be really data hungry...will suck my contract damsn fast...thks all for yr advices
Pc via mobile internet will always eat a lot of transfer, there is a reason why web pages has their mobile version

You may also want to disable automatic updates etc, as they download big files and may be one of the reasons why you are seeing such a big traffic.
Hi guys,
I am currently online with my computer wich has a 3G Stick/Modem attached to it. (= No WiFi router around I could use)
What I want to do is to somehow connect my DHD to the computer so I could access the internet via the 3G Stick from my phone while the modem is still pluged in to the computer.
I tried creating an Ad-Hoc network but for some reason, my phone wont connect to it, its always stuck on "Authentication" or "Retrieving IP-Adress".
Is there a way I could manage the whole thing by connecting the Phone via a USB-Cable?
When you plug phone into pc there should be an internet pass through option. I know the inspire can do it and I'm pretty sure the dhd is the same.
i dont know what os you have but i can create a wifi network using my macs ethernet port and connect to it. i know this can be done on linux too
Ad hoc network is probably not authenticating because the phone is not being assigned an ip address... (not a networking expert... just telling you what ive noticed with most devices) creating a network bridge between your usb 3g dongle and your wifi might help... not a surefire thing but its worth a shot.
.. if u are using a stock rom or one with sense then theres the internet pass through option which requires htc sync.
