Slider for No-Sense - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hallo everyone
I have installed the 3.1 Revolution HD with No-Sense. I also use LauncherPro. Now i want to change the slider in the lockscreen or if it is posible the whole Lockscreen (Dont like the Stock one because of sliding fron left to right. Its better to slide the slider down) .So how can i change the slider/Lockscreen. I dont want any of these apps that can be downloadet in the Market. Something to flash. And please tell me how i can flash it.
Thx

It sounds like you're looking for an Android Revolution HD specific add-on, and if you can't see it on the main mod thread, then it probably doesn't exist.
If you want that Sense style lock screen, you could always leave sense installed, and just install Launcher Pro over the top?
Otherwise, there's always ROMs like Cyanogen 7, which offer lock screen options built into the ROM.

Thx for the answear. But there must be another option or is it to complex to realise that. I just don't like sense because of all the background processes that are running with sense like HTC hub.

Download the sence version of ARHD extract htclockscreen.apk from system\app. Then push it to /system/app/ on your device.

You have to push it to your /system app via adb.
But if you want htc lockscreen and are using ARHD (-sense) you can simply use the .zip package and flash it. Here's the link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/eml4jp8z0q7aqgo/Android_Revolution_HD_restore_HTC_LockScreen.zip
just download the file, put it in your sdcard and flash it via cwm!

thx for the answear. Buti want to know how to use adb to acces my device. Im in cmd and in the adb folder. I tried this: adb -s [yourdeviceserialnumberhere] shell with my devise number but i didnt work. Get device not found. But its connectet over usb only charging and usb Debugging on.

Use the command "adb devices", if it shows your serial number then your device is connected
To log into shell use the command "adb shell" you cannot push files to your device while logged into shell though

did you mount /system in rw mode? (it's ro by default)
U dont have write access to system partition in normal use if i read the tutorial right. U have to do it with an update.zip (editing the update script) or with adb both u have to do in recovery menu from modaco i think. Tell me if i am wrong.

Damn, you're right. Previously, I had deleted an .apk just to check if it's working, then reinstalled the app right away.
But I just tested now, it looks like after a reboot, the .apk magically reappears, and the application is running as usual

Try this: Boot in recovery menu and try the following commands:
adb remount
adb shell rm /system/app/APP.apk
adb shell rm /data/app/APP.apk
where APP.apk is the filename of the apk with the .apk extention, remember case-sensitive!
for example:
adb remount
adb shell rm /system/app/FriendStream.apk
adb shell rm /system/app/FriendStream.odex
take a look before if your app has a odex or try this: (here u need only one command)
adb remount
adb shell rm /system/app/*FriendStream*
Good luck and have fun =)
Edit: Just find a topic =)

I'm trying to do these things in windows at the moment. No issues getting in the recovery with the windows scripts. But when I try to open a ADB Shell after I've gone to recovery I can't really do anything with it and the recovery hangs (not controllable with the track pad).
Anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong?
You're not doing anything wrong, from what I've seen opening a new adb instance on Windows will kill the server created by the .bat file used for recovery... which means the connection to the device is lost. I haven't looked into it further, but it might be fixeable somehow.
Ah I see, so basicly you undo the patched recovery by opening a new session. It does work properly under Linux then? I run ubuntu on my netbook so It's not a big issue anyway. Thanks for the tip, gonna try under linux now!
I'm having the same problems as:
http://android.modaco.com/content/h...co-com/307401/removing-sys-apps/#entry1256015
I removed a load of HTC widgets but I get strange entries on the widget menu. Anyone know how to get rid of these?
Also, I removed Stocks (.apk and .odex), now I get a force close on 'Accounts & sync'. Anyone know how to remove Stocks properly?
Cheers.
After running the bat file to get into recovery, start a new cmd prompt in windows and use again adb-nilezon for shell commands instead of ordinary adb, and it wont be killed.
This has worked for me atleast

The best, foolproof, failsafe way is to remove them from the rom before installing it... and remember that some services are still required, weather you use them or not.
But, if a system app is already installed you need to remove:
the apk from /system/app
the data from /data/data/appname
the cache from /cache/dalvik-cache
Do not remove Accounts & Sync...
Thanks for the answer.
I guess now is a good time to bake my own ROM!

How to install a custom font on desire?

Once you a custom rom installed is it possible to install a custom font to your phone?

Me too please. I would love to change my system fonts. Just a little bigger
If you are rooted, you can do this if you are familiar with adb commands. The commands would be something similar to this and would be executed while in Recovery Mode with USB connected:
adb shell mount /system
adb shell rm /system/fonts/(font name)
adb push (font name) /system/fonts
adb shell remount
adb shell reboot

If you are running Windows, you need to first make sure that you have the Windows Android SDK (http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html) downloaded and extracted to your computer, use the following path to extract it: C:\android-sdk-windows.
Next, download and place the selected font files to the root of your C: (e.g. C:\[font name])
Then, switch off your phone and boot to Recovery Mode. Once booted into Recovery Mode, first perform a Nandroid backup which you can restore afterwards if anything happens to go wrong. Now, while still in Recovery Mode, open a separate command-line window and then type: cd C:\android-sdk-windows\tools, press enter.
Now type the following commands in adb and hit enter afterwards to execute:
adb shell mount /system
adb shell rm /system/fonts/[font name]
adb push [font name] /system/fonts
adb shell remount
adb shell reboot
The default system fonts that the Desire uses are:
DroidSans.ttf
DroidSans-Bold.ttf
DroidSansMono.ttf
etc. I had some other font (I forget, let's say Helvetica for fun):
Helvetica.ttf
HelveticaBold.ttf
HelveticaMono.ttf
If you rename the Helveticas into the DroidSans names, back up the old fonts somewhere else, and then put your renamed fonts in the /system/fonts folder, it will work. Since we don't have /system write access while in the device, we can't tell Android to look at our different fonts while running - we just have to replace what's there.
I have attached a zip with random the font files I renamed. The non-mono fonts came from a font called Comfortaa; the mono is Vera Sans Mono. These are plug-and-play - back up your old versions of DroidSans.ttf, DroidSans-Bold.ttf and DroidSansMono.ttf and push these to your /system/fonts folder in their place. Replacing DroidSans.ttf pretty much updates everything in the system.
Thanks Masdroid
No worries bud.

What do you mean open a separate command line window, open it where?
And do you know any sites or anything which convert fonts to .ttf?
While your phone is connected via USB and in Recovery Mode (green and black menu), simply open up another command prompt window (Start > Run > type cmd, press Ok). Access adb and execute commands.
Nope, not aware of any sites that convert fonts to .ttf - try Google or Bing

Hi ! I was trying to change the lockscreen font ( Clockopia.tff ) with Root Explorer ( just renamed the old one and placed another font there ( named Clockopia.tff ofc )), but it resulted in bootloop. So what am I missing here?
A little help would be apreciated! Thought I'd ask in this thread and not create a new one.
EDIT: Found a little program called Type Fresh, installed it to my Desire and changed the font. I was afraid the font was some way corrupted, but I guess not.

[Q]How to restore Sense lockscreen?

This is going to be one of those things where some people cry out "Blasphemy!" But I will ask anyways.
I loaded up a ROM on my Evo that contains Sense everything, except the lockscreen. The ROM is perfect other than this problem. Despite my best efforts all I see is people asking how to remove the Sense lockscreen (wut?) and none trying to add it to a ROM after the fact. So I'm wondering if anyone would be kind enough to aid me in restoring the Sense lockscreen. I'd greatly appreciate the help.

I've placed htclockscreen.apk into system/app but it doesn't enable the lock screen. Possible the APK I downloaded is misnamed.

I tried but it says "Application not installed." I assumed that meant that I couldn't install system APKs or something of the like. I'll look for another source for the file. I'm sure this one is just bad. (Random Mediafire link.)
Edit : I downloaded from a better source. But this file also will not install. Placed it into the correct folder and am now rebooting to see if it works.
Edit 2 : Definitely not working. Am I missing something? I just place it in the folder... then nothing happens.
You have to install it after it's place in the folder. Use your favorite file manager and click on the apk file.

Okay. Take your htclockscreen.apk, using Root Explorer preferably, and place it in /system/app. There is no need to install anything now. What is needed, is that you need to long press on the htclockscreen.apk after you copy it to the system/app folder, and press permissions. You must make sure that the "user" permissions are set "read" and "write". Make sure they're both checked. Once that is complete, reboot your Evo. You'll have the htc lockscreen, every time.
you can also use adb. If you don't have it all set up, there's an easy way around that. Download 'wireless adb' or 'adb over wifi' from the market. Activate that app (you have to have your wifi on), open up a command prompt and connect to your phone, by typing 'adb connect 192.sss.s.ss:8000' (it'd be your IP address and port, which the app will provide to you). Once connected, navigate to where you downloaded the htc lockscreen apk. (say it was in the folder C:\android, you'd type cd C:\android, then hit enter). Then do this. adb remount (hit enter).
adb push HtcLockscreen.apk /system/app (hit enter). Then type adb reboot (hit enter). That would be all you need to do. Either one of those two methods, with adb or the file explorer should solve your problem.

What ROM are you running? I was under the assumption (for some reason) that it was a nonsense rom (sense based, but most sense elements removed). Are you on an AOSP rom? If you are, I don't believe you can use a sense htc lockscreen at all, and I apologize for the mis information. If you are actually using a sense based ROM, then I'm not sure why it's not working. hi my htc desire keeps restarting when i flash any gingerbread miui rom i have tired data2ext and a2sd and have wiped and also formated my sdcard and stil have same problem with both but it works fine with all other roms and the froyo version of miui. please help

You need to understand what is going on under the hood.. Getting an adb logcat is the way to go..
Code:
Windows>Start>Run
echo "null" > log.txt
start log.txt
adb logcat > log.txt
Use Notepad++ to associate with the txt file and reload the file every couple of seconds while keeping the cmd shell in the background.. See what's happening just before it reboots. It could be anything from a bad script to a bad module
Have you tried gingerbread 2.8, its simple and a very plain ROM, I have had issues with miui roms with my desire, if that doesn't work I will keep looking my self, sorry I'm not very insightful, you have an odd problem.

Once you open a command line prompt in the folder where adb is installed (or anywhere else, if the file adb.exe is in your Windows path variable-Dont worry about that if you dont know), you can directly type each line of the commands starting from step 2.
Before that, install Notepad+, and associate .txt file to open with it by default..
By the way, you have to start typing those commands directly after rebooting from recovery after installing the Rom..
hi droidzone i have installed notepad++ but dont understand how to install Notepad+, and associate .txt file to open with it by default. also my adb is located in c:\androidsdk\tools that is what i type in cmd to get adb working and if i type adb devices it shows my device.also i typed the commands u gave me once in adb and it says "the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."

Hmm.. I seem to be offering more Windows support than Android!
I meant Notepad+. Hold Shift, rightclick any text file, Choose Open with Notepad+ as default. You can go to your adb folder like you normally do and then type each line I posted and hit Enter after each time. You can also make a batch file with all those commands (search Google for that if you dont know how)

Hmm yes, that can happen if you have more than one adb.exe process running in the background because you exited it by closing the command shell with the close button instead of typing
Code:
exit
after done with it.
Use Ctrl+Alt+Del or Process Explorer to terminate the background adb.exe processes

[Q] ADB don't see my phone

Hi, I have a problem with ADB: when phone connected check if adb sees it with the command 'adb devices' shows me the error 'can not connect to daemon, Create Process failure, error 2'. Of course, all of the drivers installed, even i installed a lot of unnecessary packages to be sure sdk is installed correct. I have tried many ways but it's all for nothing. The important thing is that before starting play with the Desire Z went without any problems, without any errors adb seen the phone. Unfortunately, because of the desire goes to sell had to restore it to factory condition, but I had to get rid of the other phone so the Desire Z came back to me. Since then the problems started. If anyone would have any idea kindly ask for help. Thanks in advance.
I assume you made sure adb is turned on on the phone. Try uninstalling then reinstalling the drivers. If that doesn't work (i assume you have windows) change the path in environmental variables. You can try adb kill-server then adb start-server
See if any of this helps

Which ROM are you using? I had similar issues with some CM7.2 builds.
If you have the option “ADB over network” in “Developer options” try to switch it on/off. It helped for me.
Thanks a lot for answers but i already did all this methods :/ Realy dont help. And about my rom i have stock 2.2 at the moment, that's why i need adb...for root,S-OF
Have you tried a different USB cable? Sometimes it will work for charging and such but will not work for adb or fastboot, only poorly made cables are like this so its rarely an issue. I still think the problems lie in th drivers, did you uninstall and manually install the right ones? Don't let windows do it
Sent from my Desire Z using xda premium
Yes sure i tried with 3 different cabels and always install drivers manual on system partition C:
Looking back over your posts it looks like you can even start adb on your computer, phone/cable makes no difference if you can't open adb. What exactly is your path in environmental variables? My guess is this is set up wrong. Find the folder that adb.exe is in on the computer and make sure the path is set correctly to this.
And just for fun, find the folder, find adb.exe, hold shift and right click within that folder. Now choose open command here. Now type just
adb
What happens?
If you need help setting adb up I wrote a fastboot guide (includes setup for adb/fastboot) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1728208

Listen i read about installing sdk 2 years ago, i have of course path edited correctly to the folder where adb is...
Which API do you have? Older ones put adb in tools, newer in platform-tools, if you just open a command and type adb (without phone even connected) it should open. If not then you will need to change directories (or the path) if it still won't run then you don't have adb.exe installed correctly.
What happens when you open a command prompt from within the folder adb.exe is in? Have you tried that?
Adb does not need a phone connected just to run, having the right drivers won't matter if adb isn't even running on pc.

Btw. now im installing again sdk, tell me is it normal on start of installing packages i see: "Installing Android SDK Platform-tools, revision 14
Stopping ADB server failed (code -1)."
Or is it a problem and that's why i cant work with adb ?
Completely uninstall all of the SDK and remove your path in environmental variables. Then install SDK directly from google, install all the platform tools (the whole first section) make sure you check you updated java (jdk needed?) Open a command window where adb is and type adb and check for error codes, if all is good then update path in environmental variables

Tell me if i delete PATH accidentally can i create it again in environment variables ?
Yup, and just so you know creating a path just makes things easier, it isnt needed. If you want just open the command where adb.exe is located or change directories.
Sent from my Desire Z using xda premium
And in PATH i should only add "C:\SDK\platform-tools" nothing more ? Sorry for my noobish questions, i didnt work with Android for 7 months i lost a lot of memories
I remember i should always add backslash on the end right like: "C:\SDK\platform-tools\" ?
yep and don't forget to seperate the values with a ;
Sent from my Desire Z using xda premium
About drivers i should install HTC Driver installer and HTC BMP Driver ? All in same location ? Best on partition system C or other ?
EDIT: I tried so hard as i can and now everything work, adb se my phone and my Desire Z is rooted Thanks a lot for all answers.
