i would like to flash the syndicate fixtether, fix maps, fixhotspot flashes. do i just flash these using cwm 3.0 over my rom or do i need to do any wipes prior to flashing
I just flashed over with cwm. No wipes I would think, especailly if you do it right after installing the rom

I had WeatherBug Elite not working after i went to 1.01, i found the patch for programs with maps and i installed the zip for that with no problems.
No need to re-flash the rom or anything, just install the zip and your good to go.

Im not sure if I'm not doing something right but, after I downloaded CM7 #6 in Rom Manager, I select google apps as well as backup and wipe data but when it reboots, it hasnt changed and i get a notification that the new update is available. What should I do?
Forget about rom manager, download it directly, install it to your sd card and flash from recovery. I just flashed it and works fine.
Just thought I would ask, you do have CWM recovery 3.0.0.X installed right?
Keep in mind now that your running cwm 3.0+, rom manager is useless....doesn't work and don't recommend using it until its workable.

yeah i do. i have CM7 #5 right now and per your suggestion I am about to flash the #6 rom now after downloading it.

Don't think you need to wipe data when flashing nightlies... Wouldn't that defeat the purpose?
i just booted into CWM and flashed the rom. thanks for the help
i am on a rooted froyo and want to flash the stock rooted gb on. just a normal flash using cwm? i need to data/cache/dalvic wipe too i assume.
thanks
just need some assurance before i hit the button
yup...same way you would flash any other new ROM. wipe data/cache/dalvik and then flash the ROM.
i would suggest using Amon_RA recovery vs CWM. i find it better to use (also have never had problems with it....as opposed to CWM)
if you wanna try it out, heres the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705026
if you dont have any problems with CWM...then stick with it. why fix it if it ain't broke, right?
Also i would recommended doing a superwipe along with the others. Its a zip you flash and cleans out everything. You flash it same as a rom.

am currently on SRF 1.1 and want to get to 1.2
i read that it is compatible with CWM 3.0 but it also says that 3.1 is required....
do i need to do anything to download a neww/diff kernel? i believe i only downloaded one zip file when i went to 1.1, from stock froyo, and everything was included...
my phone/sd card is also riddled with junk so sorta like a pc, i would like to just nuke everything every once in a while and load the o/s and my apks from scratch ;-)
does this order make sense:
1- wipe/format phone storage
2- wipe/format my sd card
3- install cwm 3.1
4- flash to stock froyo
5- odin the recommended SRF 1.2 modem
6- flash the rom (believe only Standard currently exists but TW4 addon would sorta make it like Full?
7- install my apks
thanks!
ps do i need to install a kernel somewhere in between the above steps?

All you have to do is upgrade your 3.0.0.6 clockwork to 3.0.2.5 found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13693020
Just flash the zip through clockwork and reboot.
Then boot back into clockwork and flash the 3.1.0.1 upgrade found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115999
Then reboot.
Then go back into clockwork and just flash 1.2 without wiping! If you have problems with 1.2, then wipe everything 3X each (data, cache, and dalvik cache) and flash.
thanks for the reply....
so, i will update CWM and flash the 2.1 rom....
few more questions pls...
what is it with the Syndicate instructions regarding flashing the modem first....i take it that is if i wasn't on 1.1 already?
also, why does it specifically say that there is no kernel.... do i need to install a different one?
finally, if i do want to wipe out the phone and sd....should i do the cwm/rom install before or after that?

You just need to be on an EC05 or newer modem.
If you're coming from SRF 1.1.1 then you probably already flashed Twilight 1.1.1. What does your build status say? If this says Twilight Hajime-whatever, then you're good, but I personally like reflashing my kernel since my phone likes it.
Why wipe your sd? You can just do 3x factory wipe, 3x data cache wipe, 3x dalvik cache wipe. If you truly wanted to Odin back to stock first, reroot, upgrade to cwm 3.1.0.1 then flash kernel then flash rom.
i never went to syndicate 1.1.1 because there wasn't a full version available when i saw it last, only standard...
looking now, i have SRF 1.1.0 / Twilight Zone 1.1.0
so after i flash v1.2 of the rom, i should download and install Twilight Zone kernel again?
not nec to wipe out the card....just thought i'd give it a 'cleaning' and reinstall the apks i needed again.....

As far as the first part, flash the 1.1.1 kernel from the 1.1.0 thread. It's attached to an old version of cwm so afterward you want to immediately flash cwm purple. You'll want the new kernel in place when the Rom flashes.
Ok, I don't know what I did wrong here. I was running a stock EC05 rom that was rooted. I upgraded my CWM 2.5 to CWM 3.1.0.1, and then flashed the 1.2 rom from CWM. It rebooted, the buttons on the bottom lit up, and the screen stays blank. So, I went back into CWM and cleared all data/caches 3x, then reflashed... still nothing. I cannot even restore my NAND backup. I can only boot to CWM3 :/ Now what???

*ugh* ok, i downloaded and updated CWM both times like you suggested to get me 3.1
i downloaded the 1.2 and rebooted into CWM and selected the zip....it looked like it worked but now i'm getting FC errors and my sd card is lagging when i try to access it (from Adao, Astro or even running apps from it)
did the 3x wipe....but i got less FC errors but now i get 'framework' something something errors...
did i hose myself? *bleh*
i tried a reflash again of 1.2 and still hitting FC errors.....
i'm looking for a link to odin back to flash froyo....then following the directions again to flash the twilight kernel and install the 1.2 again...
make sense?
probably my mistake....but now it worked.... after a couple of reboots, i started from scratch...what i did coming from syndicate 1.1.0/twilight 1.1.0:
1) updated to the two new versions of cwm
2) wiped everything 3x
3) flashed twilight kernel 1.1.1 from cwm
4) flashed syndicate rom 1.2
pretty easy, thanks for the help...running super smooth
I rooted from stock from 2.3 and want to know if its safe to download and flash a ROM from Rom Manager. I just want to make sure I won't get a conflicting error.
Should I flash a ROM that's based on the official 2.3 img?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I'm not too familiar with the 2.3 process since I've been rooted since 2.2 but I would say that you're fine using ROM manager while on stock. You can either use amon_ra(my personal use) or clockwork (rom manager) many have reported issues with ROM manager so i would recommend amon ra recovery for flashing Roms. Just make sure you have the proper .zip file and wipe wipe wipe. You shouldn't have any problems

From Everything i read it is easier to flash using Rom manager because it does all the work for you. I am using RA recovery, because i read so many posts where people had problem with flashing certain Roms with Clockwork. Don't flash any Rom that has Godmode with Clockwork recovery. I have read you can't do it, but not sure. People told me i should start flashing with Rom manager first. I am flashing Koni's ELITE Series 3 Rom right now as my first Rom using RA.
Not really sure what your asking here. I have 2.3.3 and I flash ROM just fine. I just place the ROM on my sd card and use Ra Recovery cause it will flash everything. I was using ClockWorkMod and came across it not flashing alot of stuff so just save yourself the trouble and get Ra Recovery it also wipe everything compare to the CWM where I had some issues.
Does anyone know if Format All.zip works with official 2.3 on Evo? Trying to flash Koni's Elite Series 3 & it says to flash Format ALL.zip then flash rom. Just want to be sure. Thanks
Sorry for the somewhat long post, but I've tried a lot to solve this problem. So the other day, I tried installing the Paradox II Love ROM from Juggernaut 5.0 and followed its instructions exactly. I used both the Super Wipe and Kernel Cleanser and the steps that followed. After my phone rebooted, it would load the new kernel and then immediately reboot into recovery mode.
So after failing to work a few more times, I decided to try Darkside Digital Warfare. Again, the kernel would load, but then this time, it would just get stuck on the kernel logo. I waited over 20 minutes, and it did nothing. In the thread for the ROM, apparently a few people have had the same issue. A possible solution was installing a different kernel. I tried several, and it continued to have the same problem.
So I decided to use my nandroid backup, which didn't work. Something about an md5 mismatch I think. So I decided to try and reflash Juggernaut 5, and that ROM now wouldn't load. So I try GBaxeEX which I was using before Juggernaut and that just reboots to recovery.
So far, all that works are stock ROMs or ROMs that are close to stock. Right now, I'm using a debloated ROM and have no problems. I've found I can load custom kernels, so I'm using Darkside Xv1.
I've tried using Odin to go back to stock before flashing new custom ROMs, I've tried manually wiping system data in recovery before flashing, I've tried not using the Super Wipe, and I've tried redownloading the ROMs in case of an error or incomplete download. I've also tried initiating the install from ROM Manager. My phone just refuses to accept custom ROMs anymore.
Any advice is appreciated. I've been flashing ROMs since the Vibrant first came out and have never had a problem like this.
Try running tdj super wipe. Then flash your rom of choice. I highly recommend darkside rom!

Like I said in my original post, I did try the Super Wipe and have tried it multiple times since. I've also tried using the Super Wipe and formatting system data in recovery.

You may have to ODIN back to stock then re-root. After that get CWM and start flashing again. This should work.
What I learned from my Vibrant days. If everything else fails, Odin Stock and start all over again.
BTW. Small hint. Use ROM Manager to create a .zip for CWM, rename it update.zip. Doing this will allow you to go directly from Stock recovery (volume +/- and power) to flashing without Rooting the device. Just load stock recovery and install the created update.zip by selecting Install Update. First flash of update.zip will go back to Stock recovery, second will load CWM.

Again, this was something I tried multiple times and was mentioned in my original post. I was able to fix the md5 mismatch error thanks to a few other XDA threads, so I've restored a previous backup for my Juggernaut 5.0 setup.
Update: Since restoring a previous backup, I've successfully flashed Darkside Digital Warfare. However, Paradox II still refuses to install.
