[Q] Installing Rom from SD - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I Have been trying to install Carbonite Fusion 4 from my sd card. I am using Rom manager and when it restarts it just reboots to the current rom even after clean wipe and data. Please advise on how i can install this rom or any other rom from my sd card.

Flash it through recovery, not rommanager. Wipe data, cache, and dalvik before flashing.

CM 7 Flash problems

Everytime I flash cm 7 I get to the screen where it says to touch the android to begin. Then it just keeps rebooting over and over. I then have to do a battery pull and restore back to cm6.
I have tried both RA and clockwork recovery. Did a full wipe everytime. Tried booting all of the versions of cm7. Any other ideas?

You have the right GApps? I've heard, if not, some have gotten boot loops.

Do a full wipe: wipe factory/data, cache, dalvik.
Flash CM7 along with those gapps. You need to wipe the cache and dalvik before you flash the gapps; then reboot.
Not that I doubt the all knowing Roxxorz but is that usually suggested? Don't think I've ever wiped before flashing GApps in the same session .... ?

Did what Roxxorz said and worked perfect. Don't know if wiping between did anything since I did it at the same time as flashing with the new gapps. Thanks guys.

Changing ROM from Redux to LeeDroid

Will I have to do a wipe?
If so, how do I do it...

Yes. You do this operation in your recovery.
SwiftKeyed from CyanogenMod using Transparent XDA App
You will need to wipe in recovery mode by clicking 'wipe data/factory reset' then once that's done just choose the Lee zip from SD card as usual.
but u can use titanium backup to backup the apps first, and restore it when u go into the new rom

4.0 SD card issues.

I've been trying to put mazwoz ice or aokp or any other ics rom on my wife's evo but every time I do the phone Says I have no sd card, it ran cm7 for a while with no problems, and if I go to any sense rom (like the backup of synergy i made before trying all this) the sd card is there. I'm not as familiar with the evos progress as my phone is the epic (not touch). Can anyone suggest anything for me???

I'm not flashing any additional mods, I'm using whatever kernels comes with the rom, I'm on cwm and
Installation:
Wipe cache, dalvik, and data
Install rom
Install gapps
Reboot (no SD card)
Install nandroid backup of synergy (SD card works again)

I wouldn't recommend using cwm it doesn't always wipe correctly. The most used recovery on the evo4g is amon ra recovery which I recommend. But if you decide to stay with cwm try doing factory reset through recovery twice then wipe dalvik cache twice

I usually wipe all three, 3 times each when flashing roms, but I will try out amon ra and go from there. Thx.

Download Juggernaut directly from the computer then transfer to your SD card then boot to recovery wipe data cache and dalvik cache 2x each then reflash rom from SD card 2x then reboot. When done rebooting flash back to recovery and fix permissions and reboot then walla. Hope u didn't forget to make a backup recovery.

[Q] Cm 10.1 and storage

Does anyone know why after installing CM10.1 I only have 3 gb left?
Because you haven't done a complete wipe of your phones internal memory.

Can I get some help here? It's the first time I root/flash a custom rom. I did it with CWM, my steps were these:
1.- Back up with CWM.
2.- Wipe data/factory settings.
3.- Wipe Cache partition
4.- Wipe dalvik cache
5.- Install CM10.1/gaaps from external sdcard
Did I miss something?
I did the same steps as you but when in recovery I can see the old files in the memory even though I did factory reset.

Try installing Philz recovery and choose the option "Install new ROM". It wipes all necessary things automatically. Never failed me!
