[Q] Case with battery door access? - Droid 2 Accessories

Is there a case for the Droid 2 Global that allows access to the battery door? I don't normally plug my phone in, instead I swap out the batteries and charge them using the Motorola battery charger.
Taking the case off a few times a day to swap out the battery seems like it would be a pain in the butt.
Also would a gel case be a bit easier to take off? Never had experience with them.. And on gel cases, are they easy to get in and out of pants pockets?
Thanks in advance

I don't think this is possible considering you have to slide the back down to remove the battery

[Q] Droid 2 Hard Case that fits Extd Battery

My subject says it all. Face it the any stock battery is too small, and everyone is buying the extd. battery, so why the heck can't they make hard cases that fit the Droid 2/D2G with extd. batteries?
Does anyone know of a hard case that will fit it, it would seem easy enough to add a second back and charge a few $$$ more for the extra plastic.
Verizon hard cases fit. They have a hump on back just for that reason. They thought ahead.

Thank you. I actually found one over the weekend at the Verizon store. Crappy part is the way it cuts down on the space at the top of the keyboard. I will get used to it, but not a big fan so far, nor of the price they charge.
If you use any case with the battery door removed it seems to work just fine. The extra lift from the extended battery seems to be about the same as the normal battery cover.
I use my seidio innocase with the extended battery but no door and it works fine.

Which case will fit the extended battery and also will be able to be used with the multimedia dock?
Too bad no Otterbox cases will fit the Droid 2 with the extended battery here

[Q] Battery Replacement w/case?

Ok so i have found a replacement battery (3500 MAH) for $22.49. It comes with a replacement back for it (I assume cause the battery is fatter than the normal battery that comes with the evo). My question is there any good batterys that are the same size as the original or a case (like otterbox or body glove) to fit a fatter battery?
It's a little more expensive but I bought the siedio and you can get the protective case that fits it. On the other hand, I've heard of people modifying regular cases by cutting out the back so it fits over the larger door. Cut the hard case with a dremel or something. The soft cases you could probably cut with scissors. Just cut a little at a time to fit. You'll get protection at least on the edges where the phone usually hits first. Hopefully this helps.

The biggest battery you can get to fit the stock case is a 1750 mah battery (vs. 1500 in the original).
thank you both of you answered my questions cause my next question dkelle4 had answered so thanks a lot
I just got a 3500 from ebay and I can't use my otterbox or seido case, but its worth the battery life
Evo 4G!!!
One thing you guys may or may not know is that the charge light turns green at 1500 mah. You have to charge the battery an extra couple hours, bout 3. Also wipe battery stats, recovery then advanced. Good luck. I hope this helps.

[Q] Extended battery! Now I need a phone case.....

Just got an extended battery for my Captivate, does anyone have suggestions for a phone case?
I've used one of the silicone cases all along, but now it doesn't fit.
Thanks!
Cut up the silicone case. Make it fit.
Just got back from a cell store, I may have to hack up the gel case. Its gonna be hard to find something else.

to be honest with you i got the otterbox defender series comes with a screen protector and holster im the type of person who rarely drops there phone but that didnt stop my friend from dropping it down the 15 set of stairs man nothing was wrong no scratches but picturing it doing that without the otterbox case is like watching a non stop disney marathon for 12 hours (which is bad btw considering you hate disney)

LOL Fask!!!
Seriously tho, the phone w/extended batt fits in the otterbox without cutting up the back part of the case??? Got any pics???
I haven't found anything that is custom fit yet, I ordered a 2 piece snap together case that I'll have to do surgery on.... but at least it will have some protection.

So far, the battery is awesome! I get approx 2 days of usage... I say approx because I haven't let it totally drain yet, I guess I still obsess some about running out of juice when at work! LOL!
Anyway, you can see the battery here:

I have an extended battery on the way, and have been trying to decide on what to do about the case. I have the Otterbox Commuter and really like it. I had been debating on this same mod, but if I do it, I will probably try to not cut the silicone inner lining. I think I will be able to only cut the outer shell and the inner lining would still provide some protection. My fear is that dropping the phone on the battery with no protection at all would kill it.
I just got a silicone case and cut the back so the battery can stick out lol.

The otterbox can be modified plus may give you a better look ehh versus hindering its defense against Dust and dropping it I would consider the silicon case with the back cut off but personally me I got the otterbox and got cm7.and tweaked it my battery last 29 hours plus I have a year warranty case backing it up

There is now a case available for the captivate with extended battery. Search for "Custom TPU protective case for Samsung Captivate" on ebay. It does not fit the seido 3000mah battery since it has the stupidly oversized battery door (and is stupidly expensive anyway), but fits the common size extended battery door which is included for all the other extended batteries from 2100 -3500mah I have seen. It is a slightly harder material than the body glove case so not rubbery (a plus for me since I don't like the soft rubber on some Otterboxes).
On another note, if you don't like the oversize extended battery, there is now a stock size 1800mah battery for the captivate. Search ebay for "anker captivate battery." I use roms with good battery life (dlev 4.2 and Svii are the best I have found), plus tune my phone to remove unnecessary processes, so 1800mah is plenty to get me through a day of heavy normal use. But with a big extended battery I can make it through a day of heavy abnormal use, using GPS as much as I want, tethering through most of the day, and playing intense games or watching videos for hours.
More extended battery notes.
If you want to get your phone as close to stock size with a large extended battery, the solution also comes from ebay. Search for "mesh captivate case." It is a rubber coated plastic very light shell for the captivate. And it comes in colors if you want to jazz up your phone. Long shipping time from china, but only $3 with free shipping. It is the best case I have found for mods since it is semi-rigid so holds its shape and easy to cut with a dremel cutting wheel. It can be cut to accommodate the door of an extended battery, but an even better solution is to use it without a battery door at all. This will get you as close to stock size as possible with a large extended battery.
Cut a square in the shell to fit the battery itself without the battery door. You don't really need the battery door since once you slide the slider up, it holds the battery in without it. You have the shiny battery protruding through the case only a couple of mm and only in the 2x2" section instead of the much larger section you have to cut out if it had a door. You can paint over the battery with black paint so it is not noticeable, and when you hold it in your hand no one can even see it's a frankenphone.
An unmodified mesh case is also useful for me to not have to use the metal battery door with a stock size battery. You can put a small piece of sticky velcro (or whatever) on the battery as a spacer and put the mesh case on the phone without a battery door. With the 1800 stock size anker battery and the mesh case, it is lighter and thinner than any stock phone with a case plus has 20% or more battery life, better GPS, and better ventilation.
I don't like to use the stock captivate metal door since it degrades the GPS on my phone. When the metal door is installed, I cannot use the GPS on my phone while it is charging since it is so inaccurate. When using the mesh case or the extended battery with plastic door, the GPS works much better and works fine while charging.
The downside to using the mesh case without a battery cover is that the internals are more exposed to dirt, dust, and water. Since I don't use my phone in dirty or wet environments or drop it much, this is not a concern to me but could be for some people.

Thanks for the info mate. I just ordered the case
There is a seller on eBay (moretalktime) who sells custom TPU cases for a lot of phones including the captivate with the extended battery.

Extended battery fit in incipio case?

I have the incipio case on my phone and was wondering if the extended battery fits inside. I have the same case they sell at Verizon.
Yes it will. I'm using the stock battery door with the extended battery in the case right now.

Does it feel like it adds any more thickness? Or just extra weight?
You can barely feel the weight. The door fits very snug but you don't really notice it with the case on.

Careful- from what it sounds like, forcing the stock back back on the extended battery can push the battery into the guts of the phone, and potentially affect the screen itself. I tried it for a heartbeat, but didn't like having to force it back on....
G'luck!
BS ^^

Hardly. Don't listen to this dude. The battery door is flimsy as **** and flexes a hell of a lot more easily then the 'guts' of the phone. It will not affect your screen whatsoever. I am running the Incopio case with the extended battery door but at the same time I used the stock door with the case as well. Either way works, but to you, one may be more favorable than the other. The factory battery door does cause the Incopio case to bulge the slightest bit but to many would be unnoticeable.
Peep the slight differences...
Would you mind putting a picture of the extended battery in incipio case? i want to order the extended but want to run my current case without problem.. how much weight does it add?
With the extended battery the bottom doesnt sit in that well and overlaps the lip, less so with the stock cover but it still doesnt fit that well.

HHmm that might be the deal-breaker. I really want this for only $25 but i NEVER use my smart phones without cases, so i dk if the extended would be worth it if the incipio vzw case doesn't fit right.
I'm looking for a "barely there" type case that would add a little extra grip. I never use cases and for $25... if it ain't perfect I know I'll eventually stop using it.
Any chance we can see the case with the extended battery and extended battery cover on the phone?

Extended Battery Cases

about to buy the 3500 hyperion battery with the htc extended back, is there a case that will protect this?
Short answer: no, not that fit correctly
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda premium
No, probably not.
That kinda thing is a 2-in1 deal. It's a case and a battery extender, It does both.
Extended battery back covers may protect the back of the phone but don't do anything for the sides or front/screen. Personally I don't want any nicks or scratches anywhere on my phone. Otter boxes really are the way to go but none fit around a bigger battery or its back door.

I bought the case when I bought my extended battery. It doesn't fit well and gets worse over time since it stretches over a couple of weeks. I got so frustrated with it and went back to the OEM sized battery.
