For the past 2 days, no matter what ROM I flash, car dock comes on at every reboot. I've never used the car dock app, so I'm at a loss as to why it starts up every time I reboot my phone. I exit out of car dock, and it doesn't start back up until the next time I reboot.
Also, every time a call comes in, or if I make a call, speaker phone is always on by default. Again, this happens on every ROM I flash, and it's only been happening the past 2 days.
I'm rooted, currently using Warm Z, with netarchy 4.3.2 cfs more havs.
I should also mention that I've tried multiple kernels with the hopes that maybe that would solve the issue, but sadly it hasn't. Any help would be appreciated.
Well I have no idea why or how, but both issues have solved themselves. Nothing was installed or uninstalled, and my phone is back to normal.
Anyone have any ideas at all?

I'm having the exact same problems with my G2. If the Evo and G2 are anything like many of the other phones out there, they use a magnet to switch into car mode.
My problems started when I first started using a belt pouch with a magnetic closure - before I knew about the magnet/car mode thing.
Has your phone been exposed to a magnet for any period of time?
My phone is doing the same thing! Did you find any solution?
On my G2 I did a SuperWipe and then installed a new ROM and the problem was solved.
I believe that the car dock mode is regulated by the pin out of the power cable. Recall it being that two of the ground wires are attached in the car dock and not in regular power cable mode.
Also in car dock application, you can go into the menu option and turn it off so that the car dock application isn't the default action when it senses that connection.
I actually own the car dock, but hate the application since I usually only dock the phone when in GPS mode.
Having the same problem.

I've had the same problem for a month now anybody find a solution really annoying at this point.
I had Car Dock starting for no reason on my phone. What I was found was that launching Car Dock was done so by certain pins in the Micro USB port on the phone. What was happening to me was that the Micro USB plug on my charger was messed up in a way that made the phone think it was plugged into the dock instead of just a regular charger. I bought a new charger on Ebay for like $3 and never had the problem again.
I've read that some people have Car Dock launch without their phone being plugged in. Almost all of them noticed that they had some sort of tiny debris within the usb port that was crossing the pins and causing the app to launch. Cleaning out the port with something like a toothpick should help eliminate that possibility.
Hope this helps.
Yes I read that as well, and tried cleaning the port with a soft tooth brush and compressed air and didn't help. the most annoying part is the load speaker is the default for incoming/outgoing calls and the media volume is stuck on full, much to load for headphones. More than likely the pins are touching and so small that I can't see them much less straiten them out. Trying to find someone who can solder a new port, so if anybody has sent there evo to have the port fix with good results I would appreciate a good recommendation.
thank

Here's something that happened a few times already:
Whilst sitting in the train watching a movie using the stock earphones it came with I'd get the impression everyone was looking at me, so I free up one ear from the headphones, appears the audio is also blasting throught the speakers of the TP2. First times I started fiddling with the usb plug of the earplugs to see if it maybe not be connecting right. Didn't solve it; so resrted phone and everything was okay. Last times it happened I made sure not to move the usb plug while restarting, trying to figure out if this is simply a usb problem / broken wire of earplug or software trouble. It then also worked, giving me the impression that this is somehow something caused by WinMo.
Anyone else had this problem and maybe possible sollutions?
Ps: I hate the fact that HTC once again did not use a standard mini-jack connection, using mini-usb to plug in you earphones is the dumbest sollution I can image; placing in the bottom part of phone is logical thinking of cradle connections, but not handy when you need to plug in the earphones with that utterly unhandy straight usb plug. Couldn't they at least have thought of a way to put the hole in such a way that you plug is more protected or not sticking out that much?
Two point five questions here I guess but I've tried everything and I don't know what else to do. Rooted phone, got it back in july not long after the launch. For the last week or two, maybe more, I was using MIUI with tiamat 0.7. Most recent version of both. For a while Car Home kept popping up always and being super freaking annoying. Eventually I had to freeze it with Titanium backup.
Another very bothering thing is that the audio output for media is incredibly loud. Like if I plug in some five dollar headphones and keep media on lowest, I can hear it about ten feet from the buds. Not even cupping to bounce sound, just sitting on a surface. I don't know what caused this but it may have been fault, I'm not sure if doing what I did, did this; I had a pair of broken headphones so I whittled and scraped them down just to the plain bare jack and use it as a soundkiller while I'm at work. I've done this before with no problem but this time I scraped down so some metal is exposed while the jack is in and I'm sure I touched it when I removed it. I did this for a few days and suspected it might be the issue causing the sound so I stopped.
I also wiped very thoroughly the phone and SD card and went to the latest nightly of CM7. Same issues, including car home so I'm not sure what the hell is wrong with that damn app. Also now my phone is ALWAYS rotating anything even when I tell it not to and keeps making itself silent as far as ringing and notes go. What can I do?
Tl;DR: Car home always popping up, Media sound is incredibly loud, CM7 is ALWAYS rotating.
I realized this was due to a loose connector in the headphone or usb port and the phone always thinks it is in a car docked or does whenever this is loose. I found an app called NoDock in the market, it requires root but it works on the OS level disabling the feature all the time when I want to meaning I can still use it. There is a trial that claims to work for 7 days however I've been using it for the day after I posted this until now. Another person posted in the market a bad review because his trial lasted only 30 minutes so it is a formula or something. Normally it is 3 USD so it isn't too bad.
The choices I had were using this with this app or getting a replacement through sprint officially as a damaged hardware. The replacement would be a brand new model that couldn't be rooted as of yet so I figured I'll deal with this. The evo is over a year old now and I can't be sure people will keep trying to do new things to root it so I'll keep my beloved.
I'm posting this so in case someone has the same issue and searches 3 years from now and sees this they will know what i did.
Car home is caused by pins getting crossed within the USB jack. Check for a few things:
1. Does it happen only when the phone is plugged in?
2. Is there any debris or the like inside of the USB jack that is crossing the pins?
3. Does the same thing happen when you plug another USB cable into it?
Mine did the same thing and it turned out to that my charger was screwed up and making the phone think that it was docked. So I bought a samsung charger off of Ebay for like $3 and it's worked flawlessly ever since. If there is junk inside of the phone's jack get a toothpick, or something similar, to clean it out and see if that helps. If the jack is clean and the phone still launches car home while NOT plugged in then your USB jack may be screwed up.
Anyone bought and have any reviews for this guy ?

Looks like a good buy just wana know if anyone had bought this and liked it?
Looks like the one I bought from Best Buy. I like it, the only thing that I would warn about is that the phone can be a little difficult to take out. It doesn't want to just snap out like it should.
I have one. It holds the phone very well, but only without a case; absolutely no worries about the phone coming loose, and the phone doesn't bounce or vibrate, so the image is always quite readable. The only possible downside is that you might find the arm a bit short if you're driving a vehicle where the windshield is far forward, but then there's the adhesive disc, although I wouldn't want to go sticking some disk permanently to the dash of *my* car.
Leaving the charger and audio cables connected to the dock is very handy.
The phone recognizes that it's in a dock right away. There are a number of car dock launchers available (I like CarHome Ultra) as well as a car-specific voice mode.
The auto-plug charger that comes with the dock seems OK, but if you're using Navigator plus Pandora, your run-down battery won't get charged. I have yet to experiment with other high-amperage car chargers; seems like all the ones I have don't have USB conductors 2 and 3 shorted together, so they're pretty useless for this until I crack 'em open and solder.
I keep mine in a Toyota MR2 MK2 (little car) mounted at the bottom left of the windshield, and it's basically perfect there.
Oh -
Have it on my crv I can't live without it. Its easy to put in. Audio and charges are usable with one push. If you go caseless and are going to keep the phone for a while the price Is definetly worth it. Third party ones make you manually plug in charger and headphone Jack this makes it way more convienent.

It's pretty unfortunate that it doesn't work with any case though...too bad they didn't make a case combo that would fit that mount specifically.
for the price you can get other mounts that are so much better, look at Micro Center
For what it's worth, I have the Samsung OEM car dock as well and I absolutely love it. One thing I've found, though, is that the phone will occasionally go nuts thinking that I've pushed the button for voice recognition. It'll endless loop repeating "What would you like to do?" until I close out of the car launcher.
Not sure if this happens on the stock OS, I have Synergy+Bombardier loaded on it (rooted.)
I bought it. It's amazing, the dock mode syncs directly with my car stereo Bluetooth.
the only down side is you can not have a case on with it..

I'm definitely in the friction mount camp for car mounts. This one works great for me:

Are you guys able to get call audio through the car speakers with your docks?
If so, please post how. I cannot seem to get call audio to route through the car speakers. Media plays fine, but no call audio. Almost a deal breaker for me. Thats what I bought it for. ;-)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try "car mode" in the market...
How to disable car mode for T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 / SII T989 Hercules car dock
This is mostly useful if you use Bluetooth audio for your car stereo. This method renders your car dock's USB audio-out jack useless, and you would have to use the phone's headphone jack for an audio cable (untested, since I use Bluetooth audio). The only thing I want a dock to do is hold my phone and charge it. I automate the rest myself. Proceed at your own risk...
Car Mode Ultra is great for overriding your stock car mode, but I wanted to disable it entirely. I didn't like adding another layer of car modes and letting them wrestle for control.
Anyway, since I couldn't find a way to 100% disable the stock car mode software, I did it in the hardware (in the car dock itself).
On the back of the sliding part of the dock, take off the two small stickers and remove the screws under them. Carefully pry the slide apart at the seam to reveal the circuit board inside. Remove the tiny resistor between pads D- and ID. No more car mode!
Apparently, no more charging, either. Or at least not enough current to keep up. Maybe the car mode resistor tells the phone to charge at a higher rate, I'm not sure. Either way, the next step gets the charging to work again, but first, there's a warning:
If you don't want to burn your car down, make sure you have at least a 1 amp (1000ma) rated charger for this next part, otherwise, don't do it. This step increases you charge rate from 500ma to about 800ma (some people with custom ROMs go even higher). If you do this, and your charger isn't powerful enough, it could fry your charger. I have no idea what your charger will do if it fries. Maybe nothing, maybe light your car on fire. If you're not sure about it, don't do it.
On the side of the printed circuit board opposite the audio jack, there are two pads labeled A/R and AL/D. Shorting them to each other will put your phone into "AC charge mode", which means higher charge rate, no USB data, and no USB audio out. Now reassemble the dock.
With Car Mode Ultra and NFC task launcher installed, you can do all kinds of cool stuff. I set Car Mode Ultra to activate upon connecting to the stereo's Bluetooth. This starts the program without activating stock car mode. I stuck an NFC tag on the back of my dock for even more automation. Bluetooth turns on Car Mode Ultra, which unlocks the screen, which enables NFC, which reads the tag, which toggles more settings, starts Pandora, etc. Pretty cool. Full automation.
So i just looked at the forum on this, My phone auto turns on speaker when making or receiving a call, it used to keep putting its self in car dock mode until i deleted the app, i thought it was the end of my problems, It said it was something wrong with the pin connectors, i have insurance, but would i have to pay to get this fixed? my sprint people are really cool, i normally dont have to unroot to get a hardware problem fixed, but never had this happen before, so would you recommend going back to stock for this fix?

Its a damaged or dirty MicroUSB port. My Evo has been doing it for 2 years. It gets dusty inside the port, and the dust gets damp (in my situation), which fools the phone into thinking its plugged into a Car Dock, thus the dock mode and the speakerphone. Try blowing the port out with compressed air, or plug/unplug it a few times with a different cable/charger. If it doesn't go away, its the USB port, swap the phone.
So I just got my Verizon SG3 and I have the Infuse 4G car dock which everyone says is working wonderfully (It fits perfectly!). I have two problems however, and was wondering if anyone could help me troubleshoot.
1. The stereo output does not work. I have the phone on the dock in my car and when I plug an audio cable in the output on the dock it does not work, when I plug the cable into the stereo jack on the phone it does work.
2. Only a car outlet adpter to USB jack will work to charge it. If I plug in my dedicated car charger (not coming from a USB port), it will not charge the phone.
Any help with these two small issues would be awesome, thanks so much!

You have to go into settings-»dock to change the audio output.
Also, it is a very tight fit. Make sure it is all the way plugged in to the dock. I would recommend using the headphone jack on the phone however. I find the dock audio output to be somewhat noisy when using the audio out on the dock. Ymmv.

What do you mean noisy? Like cause the power input is right there? Is there a buzzing?
Yes, buzzing. I had the samsung droid charge dock and it was the same way with that phone. Maybe its a samsung thing.
Changing the audio out option in dock settings should have fixed your issue with the sound. No clue why your dedicated charger isn't working other than maybe not enough amps......just a guess there.
As for the noise/buzzing issue.......could be a grounding issue with your car or the cables aren't pushed in all the way. I used this dock for a good week and it sounded perfectly fine. The only thing I changed was the EQ settings in whatever app I was using. I'm using poweramp now with the EQ turned off and it sounds great.....no noise or buzzing. My JVC deck does all the EQ fine tuning it needs.
I ended up disassembling the Infuse dock and pulling the PC board out. This has allowed me to keep my case on my phone. I am using the exomount holder and just ran a microUSB extension from the PC board to the phone. So far, everything works great. In fact, just ordered all the same parts again last night to do the same setup for my Dad.

Here you go.
I do need to add that today I did notice some background noise at the end of a sound when it was fading out.....that was the first time I ever noticed anything. During regular listening, I don't hear anything. This may be solved by adding a ground loop isolator.
Anyway, here are the pics. The first couple are of the pc board from the infuse dock. The others are of the mount and cabling. The last is what the Google Car Home screen looks like.I moved things around and put the camera, messaging, and poweramp apps on the home screen.
Let me know if you have any questions.

By the way, the case I have on there right now is the Diztronic Matte Black TPU case. Waiting on the Otterbox Defender.
The wires you see on the second to last pic are tucked under the dash....I pulled them out to show how they were connected. The PC board from the Infuse dock is wrapped in electrical tape to keep it from coming in contact with anything.
That exogear mount was put in place a week ago and it shows no sign of coming loose so far.....really am impressed with it.

Thank you, this is nice because the case can stay on the GS3 all the time.

Is your phone rooted, because I can't install the Google Car Home. I miss that app since I had the G2 before the GS3.
This might be a dumb question and i don't know if someone else knows the answer. Can I root my phone and still keep the stock ROM (The one it ships with)???

I am not rooted. Though the play store shows it is not compatible and won't let me install it, I was able to do a Google search and find a copy of it. It doesn't show up under apps after it is installed. But, once you plug in the dock, it will give you the option to use it.
I don't know if it is proper to put links to files such as this (even though the app is free), but do a Google search for "download google car home apk" and the second choice (droid-life) is where I got it (alt-link).

Got it, Thanks!
Is there a benefit to having it plugged in and being in dock mode as opposed to using card dock ultra(ithink that is the name) ap to just make it go into dock mode? I got the infuse dock, but didn't realize I couldn't use a case with it. I'm new to all this stuff.
Is there a special cable I have to buy to do what you did?
My husband seems leery about doing any of this stuff, but our navigation head unit just went out in our car, and I want to use google nav in the car safely.

I replied in the other forum. As for the cable.....if you do what I did and want the phone to switch into car mode, then you would need a microUSB extension cable that uses all five wires.
I wasn't sure if you are wanting to output audio to a deck or if you just want to be able to charge and have the audio come from the phone.

I was wanting the audio to come out of my car speakers.. using the aux option in my car. Hope that makes sense.
The app I have is car home ultra. Right now I'm having to plug 2 cables in so I get why you did what you did. One cable would be alot easier. I definitely need to get rid of the infuse dock or do what you did and use a different dock though because I hate pulling the case off. I'm just trying to decide if I should send the dock back altogether or do what you did. My husband said he'll do it if I know exactly which cable to get.
Thank you for your reply.

This is where I got the cable from. It uses all five wires which is what is needed to trip car mode. They have many choices. I am using the right angled one. I have used both the 24in and the 6ft one, both have worked fine.
I just got my Otterbox Defender yesterday and it fits fine in my mount. I must say that this exomount has thoroughly impressed me with how well it holds.
