Mine does the same thing idk wassup with that I tried figuring it out but gave up
Funniest thing was I broke my 0003 and got a 0004 signed into my gmail and it gave me all my apps I had on my 0003 everything from script manager to dropbox and the wallpaper was blown up to the max looked all distorted lol
Go to settings>privacy>uncheck 'Back up my data' 'and Automatic Restore'
Sometimes this doesn't take effect until you do it on your next flash so I suggest you flash and the SKIP logging into google on the set up and do the above 1st then go to accounts and log into google.
Its Google backup restoring prior setting. If you skip the setup wizard you can bypass this.

Same thing happens to me whenever I flash a sense rom. Funny is that all my stuff gets restored before I even log into Google.
I have no issues with it though as it saves me time.

I get these things almost every night, lead to websites that don't exist (or may be blocked by ad-away). Any ideas?
EDIT: This will still happen even if I've just wiped and have no apps other than stock ones installed
Wow roms do adds now

You have an app that is giving you ads.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
it's not the rom that's doing it, it's an app that's been downloaded/installed. whatever was the last app you downloaded from market before those ads started showing up is the culprit. by uninstalling the app(and possibly rebooting your phone) the ads will go away.
however, if it's an app you insist on having, you can download an app like 'Ad Blocker' that will allow that particular app to continue running on your phone while blocking whatever "ads" come with it.
See my edit. I have ad-away installed, it does the same thing as ad blocker

Not in that screenshot, but yes after a full wipe with no apps installed/restored it does it too
when you wipe the phone, you do the standard 'factory reset' as well as format /system before you install a new rom right?
it could be something that was installed to /sdcard that's causing it as performing the 2 options above would not work in this case.

Yes right now I'm running AOKP, but it started even before I rooted it.
hmm... i'd say if you're willing to, format /sdcard
considering that /system is getting completely wiped it's obviously not there. has to somehow be something that made it's way onto the sdcard.

If you wipe data and flash a rom from this forum and reboot there is zero likelihood of that. Uncheck settings > backup and restore > restore blah blah.
If that isn't working you break your phone number

I would call myself an experienced ROM flasher, I literally do not understand what's causing this. I'm not restoring automatically when I set up again after wiping, I don't think something can just autorun itself from the SD card. I'm thinking it might be some sort of verizon spam, similar to the "Ozmail" thing maybe?
there is another thread here that's similiar.
if it is 'airpush' related, i'd probably try out Airpush Detector or Addons Detector
I have been flashing roms & kernels for the past few years so I don't think I am a "noob". I am in no means a "know it all" either. I have been using Titanium Backup Pro to backup everything before flashing roms. It's great, but I still end up taking 20 minutes to restore everything back to normal. I have seen other posts about the correct way to backup/restore, but I never get a straight answer on the easiest/correct way. Do I let the market redownload my apps or do I let Titanium? Restore user data, system data? I hear about others restoring everything back to normal like email, texts, passwords etc. Please help.... Thanks

Restoring user downloaded apps is fine, but restoring system data always monkeys everything up.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
I've always restored user apps through titanium, but as the guy above me stated hold off on the data. If need be, the apps where you really need the data do them one by one so you know which one fudges up your system, if any do.
Once I know I'm going to switch roms, I always back all user apps up, then after I load the rom I want, I go ahead and run titanium before the market loads anything. It just takes to long for the market to redownload everything, in most instances.

Yea titanium way faster than market attempting to re download plus it always misses some and your days gets congested from 50+ apps trying all install at once

Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
If you want.. you can look into Mybackup root/pro. I always use that to backup my data and apps. It's very straight forward. You can choose DATA and backup sms, mms, android home, settings, playlists etc... then use APP to backup APPS, or APPS +DATA. check it out.. but remember after each backup or restore, restart for best results.

How do you get ti backup on your phone after a new rom is installed, but without accessing the market? most roms dont come with it preinstalled.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
Most the time I go to the market and dl it... There were a few devs that did have it in the rom when I had my g2.
Just read that you posted without going to the market. When you buy the pro, its always for dl in the market, just the serial though. So you have to redownload the free version through the market. Don't think there is another way, that I know of.

I will add, that mybackup is pretty cool. I'm not even rooted with a mytouch4gslide and you can still backup everything. With titanium, you have to be rooted.

There is an option in Titanium Backup to create a Flashable Zip that you can install within Recovery. In Titanium Backup, Press MENU, then press MORE and it'll be on that list.

This is the best way I restore after a wipe:
1. TI Pro for batch USER apps and data only -- do not use batch on system files
2. TI Pro for these system files: bookmarks, user dictionary, and wi-fi access points, only. I only use the "DATA Only" option in Ti Pro for these files.
3. I use from market, Call logs Backup & Restore to get my call logs back.
4. I always do a nandroid before flashing a new rom, and then use AppExtractor (free from market) to go to my nandroid to restore my SMS and MMSs. This works better than using TI Pro for sms and mms restore.
It sounds more complicated than it is. It actually is quite simple. I would simply stay away from using Ti Pro for restoring any system files if you can.

For those of you that use Titanium Backup there was a significant update to the application today. You have always had the ability to backup your apps and do a batch restore of your apps and data or just restore the app with no data.
Well now it gives you an option to create a zip (flashable in recovery) of either your apps or your apps with data. This will make the process of switching ROMs and getting your apps back almost seamless. Just flash the ROM, flash the .zip to get all your apps back, reboot and you are ready to go. Fantastic update.
Information below was found on Phandroid. Peace.

Wow nice
This is actually an awesome feature. Unfortunately, I lost my TiBu license quite awhile ago and moved onto RTB. Hoping RTB eventually implements this as well considering they're big competitors. Or I might just pick up another license if it goes on sale again.

I tried the recovery zip after flashing a ROM last night. It restored all my apps no trouble....but no data. And I did select app+data option. Maybe a fluke. See if it works next time.
Anyone else try it?

It is supposed to back up data and in a batch restore it will give the options...app only...data only...app and data. And it works fine.
But I tried the new recovery zip feature...chose apps and data and the data didn't restore. I had to do it manually later.
I tried this feature. Some data restored, and on first boot after flashing zip, titanium ran on its own to restore the rest. Couldn't make sure the programs all came out ok because the whole rom went south on me. Not a related issue though.

Get App2zip from the market it backs up data apps and system apps. Flash it in cwm recovery. Or look up clockwork combiner its nice it combines multiple zips into one zip that you flash in recovery saving you time because everything you need is all in one zip.

Hi,
I recently updated my Hercules T989 to Jellybean 4.1.2 via Kies. When I was on ICS, I could easily uninstall the t-mobile stock apps(or any other stock apps) using Titanium Backup Pro. But after upgrading to JB 4.1.2, I cant uninstall a single stock app. I tried updating Titanium backup pro from 4.1 to 4.5.6 but its still the same. It can freeze the apps but one app: 't-mobile accounts' unfreezes itself. I dont know how it happens. By the way, the device is rooted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Are you sure Titanium Backup has root permissions? Check your Superuser app log and make sure they're being granted. You need root access for Titanium Backup to be able to remove/freeze system apps (like the built-in stuff).

Yes, I have checked it. TB has been granted root permissions. TB successfully freezes all my system apps. But only one app - "T-Mobile My Accounts" unfreezes itself automatically after a while. I dont know how or why that happens. All my other system apps stay frozen except that one single app. And about uninstalling, none of the system apps can be uninstalled. When I run the batch operation to uninstall, it shows the progress bar but gets stuck at 0%. No progress at all.

Sounds like you are using a stock based ROM then. So you will have to live with that app. Otherwise you may cause problems by trying to delete or freeze it. Anybody that is determined to remove it, you can use a root based file explorer and delete the apk from the system/app folder. Backup the app somewhere by copying & pasting it in another folder, so you can replace it later if you start experiencing issues.
