Gallery Bug - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well, seeing yourself...
The gallery does not work. It has installed a modified version, although it did exactly the same with the original ROM base (Froyo 2.2)
What's the problem? It is normal?
Thanks...

Can you access it through your camera app?

Only bug I have with the gallery (not usung the 3d gallery using the older style) is set as wallpaper does cause fc. Going to wallpaper then select from gallery works fine. I'm confused is this bug related to the 3D gallery only?
From my permarooted 1209mhz G2 with CM7 nightly 6

Have you tried go back to factory default settings?

Yes! I can see the photos I've taken from the camera... it's something...
The funny thing is that the Nexus Gallery 3D works perfectly 100%. The problem is that if I attach an image in an email or change the image of a contact just let me use the old gallery... and i can't do it...

Believe me that the gallery did not work with the phone straight out of the box (all original and new)...

anyone else on cyanogem 7 nightly number 2 or any other rom have problems with the camera not saving to the album, then maybe a day later the pics show up or after a reboot they show up?
is there a better gallery than this 3D gallery, i hate this photo gallery it absolutely is slow and ****ty
Anyone? I have resorted to using file manager to look for pics. This nexus 1 3d gallery sucks tiny monkey dung.

There are a number of threads about this. Sometimes you have to force a rescan of the media on your SD card for it to properly show up (lots of apps out on the market like Rescan Media among others will do it). Since you have CM, there is probably an option in the Dev Tools app that will do it as well (I'm still on CM6, but I assume CM7 has it as well).
As far as a different gallery goes, the APK for the 2D Gallery was posted in the app forum (personally, I found it better than the 3D one). There are also other apps on the market you can try. I've been using the app QuickPic for a while now and have been pretty happy with it.
Thanks for the info on the 2d app...unfortunatley I cannot find it trying to search from xda app and I don't know what its exactly called either to try and properly search for it.

Bonsai v4.0.1 and the Modded Gallery..

Hey everyone.. I've done a little digging and I can't seem to find a solution. I am currently running Bonsai 4.0.1 and love it.. but I noticed that their modified version of the gallery doesn't allow me to set my own photos as scrollable wallpapers. Static single panel only. I tried pulling the Gallery apks from Syndicate and Midnight.. but they both have the Gallery Sensor bug. I can live with just rebooting my phone whenever I change wallpapers, just curious as to the existence of a Modded Gallery 3D apk that doesn't drain my battery and can set scrollable wallpapers. Thanks in advance!
Cheers,

I have Bonsai 4.0.1 and the modded Gallery and mine scrolls just fine. Never tried a photo but am using a jpg of a Thor movie poster that scrolls. I made sure I cropped it in landscape size. Have you tried quickpic? Maybe it is the order of how I did it. I long press on a blank homescreen or blank area, pick wallpaper, then the Gallery comes up to pick the picture. Crop what you want and set it.

Hmm.. I just flashed in the original gallery apk from bonsai 4.0.1 and cropped my photo in landscape and now it scrolls, but with black bars above and below the image. When I use the Gallery from SRF or Midnight I can crop in either portrait or landscape and wont get the bars..

That is strange. I don't get any bars. I had to actually add some black edges to my Thor background so it is visible above the launcher icons.
I can't imagine that they would have packaged to different galleries between the time you flashed it and when I did.. would they?

I doubt it, although I did had an issue where Gallery icon was labeled "false". I had to remove it with sdx app removal tool, download Gallery 3D from the market, then replace that one with root explorer with the apk pulled out of 4.0.1 install. Don't know if that changed the way mine handles pix and wallpaper or not.
I've never had any problems using the included 3D Gallery in Bonsai to set scroll-able wallpapers. I just tried it again to make sure and it still works, although I normally use Quickpic as my go-to Gallery app.

Same with Midnight which uses Bonsai as its base. I use QuickPic and erase Gallery with Root Explorer. Works perfect

This is a noob question, but does this work like the stock Gallery/Camera combo where you can see your Picasa folders? When I was rooted and using a stock Rom I would always upload immediately to Picasa and delete from SD/phone and still be able to see my pics in the folder. Since I switched to JellyBam Rom, I no longer see anything from Picasa, although I can still upload pics to Picasa. I flashed GAPPS 4.1.2, and everything works on the apps, except for the Picasa/Gallery thing. Any help in figuring this out would be greatly appreciated.

This is correct! Thanks for the heads up on the AT&T SGS III. However since "Action" scene is required to be able to use without freezing users should also note that "Action" scene does not have Flash functionality. (No Pictures in the dark). "Auto" mode still freezing up when Auto-Focusing. I'd say if you want the camera to play with Photosphere and never take pictures in the dark then this APK is for you.
That's is working with no problem on JB 4.1 TW base. And the good part : it not replace the TW camera!

About the 2 gallery's/2 cameras: In your app drawer after flashing the first one is stock, second one is photosphere. Just go to the app info and disable the stocks.

I've been running this for about 3 weeks and I have never had to set the scene to anything in order for it to work I just leave it on Auto. It just worked 100% straight outa flashing.
Also, because of this I have working flash as well.

No, it's not unstable. You did something wrong, or your ROM is interfering.

Wondering if anyone was able to get it to work on Shelnutt2's CM10.1. I keep getting force closed on camera, gallery works fine though.
[SOLVED] It wasn't working because of a mod on the media_profiles.xml file that I was using. Once I went to the normal file, it started working.
I can confirm rear and front cameras as well as photosphere work on Lifeless 14 however photos are limited to 8mp.

Is that the one from Banks gapps?
Edit: I flashed photosphere. Then the new camera app installed; however, it force closes when opening the camera app.
I just tried on Shelnut2 CM 10( build 6.27).
What I did to make it work was (using Titanium Backup) uninstall Gallery. You will get a notice if you want t, uninstall gallery2.apk, hit yes. Then install Google edition camera apk and the camera should work with 13 MP, not reboot necessary (although it is recommended).

Interesting, in Titanium, I see Gallery 1.1.400001 and when I try to un-install, it says "Cannot remove system app, Failed to locate the apk file"
It's weird because with other system apps, I can remove without issue.
Edit: Figured it out. It was because of a mod on the media_profiles.xml file causing it to force close.

It should work on stock roms as others have done it. I don't think it replaces the stock camera, instead you may have 2 camera apps (make a backup of the current camera/gallery app before installing).
Have you tried just installing it like a normal app? That should work.
If you need the photosphere addon, you can find it here: Banks Gapps Photosphere

its the media profiles that messes it up. i pulled the one out of beanstalk and moved it to the ETC folder and it works now. heres the file!
Works well with AOKP, btw I didn't the flashable zip that was included in that thread and had no issues at all.

from what ive searched and found around the xda site is, you need to tap the screen to focus every time before you take a picture or you will get camera lock ups and can not connect to camera. if you have gotten that message, just reboot your phone and remember to tap the screen before every picture taken.
The back camera works fine. I have to do the whole tapping the screen to focus before taking the picture thing, but thats not much of a problem. But if I take a picture with the front facing camera, it reboots my phone and obviously does not save the picture. Anyone know a way to solve this?
(I'm running 4.2.2 Illusion ROM for SGS3)
Install omega rom. Indie has modded them and photo sphere is working without any problems. You dont even neet to tap to focus before each photo. When you install omega be sure to select the 4.3 camera option in aroma installer
