Many of you may have probably played or seen the tower defense game (cannot find it now sigh - wonder if it has been pulled from the market)... anyway, a tower defense game had awesome neon edges and menus. Also, Glow Hockey is a good example. A light green or blue neon for the dialer number edges and what not (I think) would look sweet and could be incorporated throughout.
I've began to learn from dreamsforgotten's tutorial on theming and I'm getting somewhere, but I'm slow-learning Gimp and it's going to take me forever.
Maybe dreams or jstine or another talented themer would like to tackle this...

I would but right now I am working on a dark red theme with maybe red flames in certain spots in the rom. Could happen when we start to see EB13 roms have a standard OPS, we can spend more time just making themes and not worry which rom they will work on.. If that doesn't happen then I will only build themes for roms based on ACS releases.
Ok the dark red theme is done

Take one of my themes and use Gimp under filters is an option for drop shadows. Set the color you want, then non resize, x= 0 & y=0 with radius to anywhere's from 5 to 15 depending on the size of the image and how much of an edge you have in the image. If the image is edge to edge then hit copy, clear, paste, layer, resize the layer to 5 pixels less and then use the drop shadow. That's how you can get the theme you are looking for. You may use any or all of my images in your theme, all I ask for is some credit if you release the theme to the wild. I'm alway willing to help with questions.

Was it "Retro Defense"?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.larvalabs.retrodefence&feature=search_result
No the game is no longer in the market don't know why... seems like it started with an x...
Sweet mystery, look forward to seeing that.

I did a theme that has a neon blue feel to it if you want to look at it. It's still in it's early stages, but maybe worth a look.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021013
Ok jstine way would work for neon, but there is a easy way of doing this neon affect in Gimp you are looking for. You will need to download a up to date script-fu pack for Gimp. After you install this you will notice on your top tool bar a script-fu option tab right next to your filters option. You merely take an existing image or let's say button png. Make it completely black and then in your toolbox where it lists your layers right click on the layer and choose alpha selection, then go up to your script-fu tab and select glow selection. This will make a ring around any image that is alpha selected. You can choose your color, border thicknes and glow radius to give your neon effect. It is really quick and easy to do after you do it once, so easy that you could knock out an entire theme out relatively quick. Hope this helps you with your gimping!

So the rom/theme I'm using uses green for a highlight/select color, but I like the blue (or possibly purple or something for some). I was wondering what elements where would need to be edited?
It's not the only thing I'd want to edit, so really the starting point should be sufficient.

You need to read the how to theme threads. Your awnsers are in there. The green highlights arte either controlled by images or xml code. Everything is found in the framework-res.apk that would need to be changed. In order to edit an xml file you need to de compile the apk. Images can just be dragged and dropped using 7zip our winrar

The theming how to has been really great so far, there is a section of the How To that lists all the tools you will need her. I am working on switching my color from blue to red! I am playing with shades of red and trying to figure out a way to change the highlighting shape on the keypad.. want to change it from a square / rectangle to a star.

Is there any devs that would be kind enough to create a theme that has everything 80-90% transparent, Icons and all?
Look for the window theme (i forget the name) but its made by dreamsforgotten. its not 100% what your looking for buy you can drop suggestions in his thread. Also the bonsia rom has a nice transparent theme built in.

Thats what I was going to say
Find the super nova rom he has a sweet clear notifications bar and pulldown tab flashable for dk28. I used the second one with the darker shade but the first one is more clear I think.
The transparent theme is coming I want to be 100% with how I'm going to implement it. I'm leaning towards the look of the kubuntu clear windows. froyo window is the theme mystery is referring to. No link, I'm on the road. Its close and took a lot to get it working right but now that I got it figured out, I am working at it but my next theme will be a pink one since there aren't too many for our female (or males if pink is your thing lol) Epic users.

does a theme with a military/camo green color scheme exist? I'm using SRF and would love to have it rather than the icy blue that the ROM has already. if there isn't one alreay, could someone cook it up? I'm sure it would be a hot item....
or better yet, point me in the right direction and I'll make it myself, lol

I would also like a theme like this. What type of camo are you looking for? When i get some free time i'll see what i can do. A good base theme with matching greens would help!

i was thinking something with the basic green found in a camo or more specifically found in the color palette: http://www.colourlovers.com/palette/88903/Gridlocked
i found a lot of color schemes that are nice on this link: http://www.colourlovers.com/blog/2007/08/02/best-of-color-inspiration-130-green-color-palettes/
This is my first time ever putting together a theme. I used UOT kitchen just to put something together. Its just black and blue with honeycomb icons.
I think it still needs some work, I'm not sure how to edit the colors of widgets or apps yet.
I am probably going to make some changes as I get better. If anyone has any advice then feel free to PM me.
Features : Custom Battery Icon
Honeycomb Icons
Black notification bar (transparent background)
Dark Blue overscrolls
Other slight Color changes
Kinda ugly I think... But Im sharing it anyway!
You should be able to flash via CWM.
BACK UP YOUR ROM BEFORE FLASHING JUST IN CASE.
NEW: Just edited some of the colors a bit And changed the battery icon.
Screenshots
(Not updated for new version) I will take new screenshots later. I am tired. The new colors are much better I think.
Changes
Please tell me what you like / dont like.
Looks great besides the battery icon, should be blue like the rest. Great work though and thanks!

Its honeycomb colored. But It changes color when your battery is at different levels.
At full charge it matches the rest of the honeycomb icons.
Im working on some tweaks already. I dont like the color of the pop up screens.
I understand, thanks a million, looks great so far. I'm excited to see where you take it.
Maybe I should research this kitchen stuff and take a shot at themes too!

You can do this by using a program like WinZip or 7Zip to open the APK files (they're effectively just .zip archives with a different extension) and changing the files. Its pretty easy save for the part where you have to make new images. Most images used in Android are .9.png files which need to be nine patched. There are tons of threads all over XDA about how to do this. Check it out, mate.
BTW nice work.

Just wondering if anyone's ever seen something like that:
I'm not talking about a "Black and White" themed rom, I'm talking about something more lower-level, kind of like how you can adjust the settings on a color TV set, and make EVERYTHING black/white/grayscale...all apps, widgets, video, i.e. EVERYTHING.
(I've noticed sometimes when I'm using a black and white keyboard, and am inside an app's interface that's also black/white (like this XDA app) that it's a REALLY clean look and would love the whole interface to be that way too. (Reversible, of course...)
Any ideas?
Would be cool. Never seen it as an option though
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
There was a feature in a rom for the Xperia x10 that allowed full control over stuff like that. It was a filter system but had an option to create your own filter. Never made it black and white but I'm sure it was possible. I'll boot up my old x10 later and check it out. But it was built into the rom. Not an app

I just bought this, tried it, but refunded it.
It's cool, but essentially what it does is lays a rgb filter OVER everything, which you can adjust, but you can still see the original colors undneath, no matter what...
Thanks for the thought, though, I wish it could be that simple.

I remember something similar in CM, but I thing the choices were all colors, and didn't affect video, IIRC...But, it tells me that it probably can be done. I'm not on CM right now, but maybe I'll flash over just to make sure...

Not recording, no.
I truly want the entire OS in black and white: so, say when I pulled up the newest Avengers trailer in HD, I'd see The Hulk saving Ironman in its full, retro, grayscaled glory. (Maybe it's silly, but I think it'd look pretty cool.)
