Hi. I just recently purchased an HTC Touch Pro2 from T-Mobile running WinMo 6.5. That being said, I have not been able to open any cab files on the device to install some software. Basically I'll transfer the cab to the device and attempt to open it. I get one of three messages depending on the app I guess. the most basic is "Installation was unsuccessful" to "Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting...not digitally signed...trusted certificate" (this was from MobileFTPClient). Installing Opera Mini 5 gives a simple: "Installation of mini5wm.cab was unsuccessful".
Ok, so being a software developer for 10 years I've been looking into some registry values and can't seem to find what I need to get anything to install. If I download from the Windows Marketplace that's all good, but nothing else.
What do I need to do to be able to install cab flils directly? Honestly if I can't get this to work this phone is going back. I moved from an iPhone to this phone specifically so I can install apps and monkey around with the device, but so far I'm done before I started.
Thanks for any info you can give me.
its in one of your phone/device settings to let u download and install apps or cabs not digitally signed. thats all, i believe. just find it and check it off. or look for advanced config cab if u can find it and install that. it has an option in there also to let u download/install whatever..

The cab I have attached may help you...it's some SDK certificates that will allow installation of certain unsigned apps, but I don't know if this is what the ones you're running are requiring and missing. It won't harm anything to try this one, and you can easily uninstall it if it doesn't do the trick
Thanks guys. Sirphunkee - that cab actually installed, but I'm having the same problem. Another forum has suggested that I take the device back to T-Mobile, but it just seems like there's a setting that's not right in the OS. Demandarin - I've looked for various security permissions in the UI with no luck. I've mucked around with some Policy values in the registry per some threads on this forum, but still nothing.
I'll keep trying, and thanks.
So...weird; Opera Mini and Weather Bug (well known apps) wouldn't install, but an SMS notification disable cab installed (from the xda site) as did Evernote (evernote.com). I have no clue what the deal is, but it's getting beyond stupid that I can't install just any cab file.

Have you already installed .Net 3.5? It's a framework that many other programs use (and need) to install, and it's not on the TP2 by default...it's the only other think I could think of that would keep you from installing stuff. Cab is attached, if you don't have it already.
Got it. I installed the Device Security Manager PowerToy and was able to change the configuration there. Opera Mini 5 just installed.
Never would have thought the phone would come that locked down, but so far so good. Thanks for all of the ideas.

I have the same problem, but i cant move the files from sd/downloads to system/apps i copy them with rootexplorer, but then dont give me the option to paste em... i just cant move the files to that folder, any ideas?
ok my bad, i wasnt copying properly... sorry
one problem solved
well i managed to copy and paste the files, but shortly after the phone went death.... and now it STILL DEAD!!! black screen just the 2 bottons left and right of the home button are on... and its been like that for 10 mins... wot went wrong?
Battery off and then reboot doesnt work?
Can you boot to recovery? If you can then do a factory reset.
Still stuck
Well, ive removed the battery and tryin to reboot, but same problem all over everytime, screen just black and no response whatsoever, with my mobile version, i think i cant go to reboot screen but the traditional method ( the power button combination ) so ive installed the sdk manager to do it through CMD, and before it worked ( before when i rooted and lag fixed my galaxy s i9000 ), but now it doesnt recognize the phone connected... so im totally stranded here...
well a little later, i managed to go into recovery screen, and did factory reset... still black brick... too bad i was lovin my galaxy s...
you click setting goto applycation check managerment click running choose file and clear data now reboot
nah the phone is dead, i think my another mistake here, is that i copied the twwiz3 and odex, for another version of my phone, that mite have killed if for good... it wont switch on, so now i basically cant do "anything" with it... ill try to send it to repairs...
Yes, i know they arent enabled by default, but after reading this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253502) thread i figured i'd give it a shot.
And i missed.
Im using a RHOD300 (tilt 2)
i downloaded the
Attached Files
LiveWallpapers.zip - [Click for QR Code] (347.8 KB, 45 views)
extracted them to my desktop, then placed them into the root of my SD card, then I ran haret and booted into android, then i loaded up terminal emulator and followed the steps (noted that im doing the "on phone" method) and sure enough there was indeed a new "live wallpapers" selector. however, whenever i try to use a live wallpaper, it force closes. (i even tried using livewallpapers i downloaded from the market, but that didnt work either) after rebooting to see if that was the problem, the same instance occured.
Thinking of a workaround, i saw that they were .apk files, so i this time placed them into the android app folder (where all the other .apk files are) and hoped that would work. and it didnt. So im at a loss as to what im doing wrong.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Edit: i dont think this would make much of a difference, but im using GO launcher ex from the market.
Edit2: 52 views!? i guess Live Wallpapers is a pretty attactive saying
I've had the same issue. It worked for me at first but then kinda force closed after sleeping. Afterwards it wouldnt start back up. I've done the ADB method aswell same issue. Let ya know after some adjustments if it works.
After much testing...
i have tried...
-deleting frx07.1
didnt work
-doing it on gingerbread
didnt work
-extracting files to multiple places, (android apps folder, android folder, root of the sd card)
Didnt work
-rebooting multiple times, in a desperate attempt to get it to work
as expected, nothing.
-accidently clicked "wallpapers" instead of "live wallpapers" and thought it was working...
Then i saw nothing was moving...
Well for the moment, i give up.
i'll try to tackle this again tomorrow, hope someone else finds a solution!
You should check out the android official website. read up on the commands for the terminal and stuff. If you've ever used any linux build youd learn the terminal for android fairly quickly. i got it working modifying the mount command. i'll go back and write a guide for using the terminal for android. in depth guide on what each command does and how to use it effectively. i'll post it in the android dev section in a few days

Glad to hear you got it working I still havent however :/ Where do you have your Livewallpaperpicker located? (i assume its the root)
Also, was it as simple as changing mount -o, remount to something like mount -1, remount?
And just making sure, the guide your talking about... will it include how you got this working? or will you post that here?
EDIT: found something interesting, i renamed my data.img and created a new one. i have the same files and everything (including livewallpaperpicker) and on my new data.img i dont have the live wallpaper option (as expected).
yet, when i use my other data.img (on i was using before) i have the livewallpaper option. a little confused as to why this is
I'll include the live wallpapers in my guide. I have everything in the root. I will find an alternative for you. but as arrrggghhh said it isnt guaranteed to work for everyone. will let ya know what i find. i have a spare tp2 so i can see if it works on there as well.
Another thing to note, when I'm using terminal emulator I do all the steps, but sometimes it will find LiveWallpapersPicker.apk and sometimes it won't "file or directors not found" I believe it says

It'll never be officially supported. I even stated it will be slow and horrible to use... It was officially supported, and people griped about how slow it was. So the option was pulled - it was that bad.
yeah its still bad. the hardware for the tp2 just imo isnt built to handle it.
So sometime in the last few days I started getting an error when I try downloading any free apps saying "error processing purchase". I've tried several different things to fix it and the only temporary fix is to uninstall the Market/Play Store update. The only problem with this is that after a few minutes it changes back to the Play Store and I start getting the error again. Any suggestions?
Edit: I think I figured out something to fix the issue, clearing the app data for the Play Store didn't help but clearing the app data for googleservicesframework seems to have fixed it so far.

Yes I use it on multiple devices. I thought renaming market updater.apk would keep it from changing to the Play Store but it didn't work.
Ok, this solution helped us.
We signed in with an amazon acc.
(Dont think this has something to do with it, but who knows)
We deinstalled AND deleted googleservicesframework.apk, market.apk and our marketopener.apk. After rebooting we checked again if nothing is left.
Then we copied googleservicesframework.apk , market.apk in our system/app/ folder and marked the permissions on both to:
xx-
x--
x--
and installed them.
At last we installed the marketopener.apk out of the download folder.
(We got an error that market.apk stoped or something)
After restart, we were able to sign in with an existing google account (without another android device) and to download free apps.
[edit]
I had these problems because of multiple devices i think.
Do u have an error message that "google talk authentication failed" ?
Then check the first link b63 posted again. It helped me..just do everything exactly as discribed.

I don't have a MarkertOpener.apk, just MarketrUpdater.apk
That app is only for opening the market. You need something to open the market.
I downloaded my files from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTkegVrnAvA
"3. Download android market files"
the media fire link.
We simply followed that video (except the deleting we needed).
Well, I think figured out a possible fix, I just need to give it a while and try downloading some more free apps. Force Stopping and Clearing Data for GoogleServicesFramework.apk and PlayStore.apk seemed to have fixed the issue so far. I've previously tried clearing app data for the PlayStore alone and it did not work, it seems like the GoogleServicesFramework did the trick.

The funny thing is that I didn't even notice that in the post, I just saw steps 1-4, until you just quoted it. Things still seem to be working fine so far.
this worked for me
I froze market updater in TB
Downloaded an older market Apk
Uninstalled play store and install market

Official Solution
Current Play Store Issues
The above URL is a link Google's page that deal with Play Store issues. Right now the solution in the 2nd post is what google is recommending as an official temporary solution until they push out an update to solve this. Its under "New Issues" menu. Top option. Please click the report button so that we can let google know that more than a "few" people, as they put it, are having this issue.
Hope this helps anyone who haven't gotten anything to work.

I've been having the same issue and I'm running CleanRom ICS 4.0.3 with Sense 3.6 on my Evo3d though, I haven't tried any apk mods I'm pretty basic and far from dev material but I've tried the clearing catch and data a few times already and the last time didn't work at all ... I thought about your edit post multiple devices and went to my devices in the Play Store on the web and it showed my HTC Hero as last device used (had flashed a Rom and signed it with google) from the day prior, I ended up deselecting the device, then on my Evo went to Set Up and removed my google account and signed back in so it shows as my most recent device in the Play Store now ... So far so good, I haven't been getting the error or any at that.... Not trying to troll, long story short, just wanted to say thanks
......
I retract this statement, It did it again, I did have to fix my permissions and that did the job

Ok that worked, be sure to reboot after you kill both.. Thanks
When you check devices under the Play Store do you notice it is only showing the most recent device you "registered"? This is happening to me so that once I do the reregistering into the Play Store on one device (e.g. my KF) then I get the error on the phone and vice versa.
I just got a refurbished A100 earlier this month, I had wanted something that was able to be used
has a GPS when traveling, and a Android PC when at home when attached to a HDMI monitor,
the Android PC setup works well with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, however the Microsoft
bluetooth mouse that I have stops working after it sets still for a bit, and I have to manually reconnect, I
hope to find a mouse that auto reconnects or does not time out, the only other problem I have
with the Android PC setup is that one of the HDMI TVs I have, an old Sharp 720p TV, the TV I needed
to use for this, the top and bottom of the screen are cut off, and this TV has no adjustments for that,
but the A100 works good on a newer Vizio 1080p TV that I tried.
Here are the steps I took to unlock, root, install recovery and CM, copied from my notes.
I installed the drivers and rooted the A100 using:
Full root for A10x and A5xx ICS. Simple method.
I noticed that at this step my superuser will not update from within the superuser app.
I then unlocked the boot loader using this:
[How to] Install unlock bootloader for A100/A101
It happened so fast that I missed it and had to run the commands
"fastboot oem unlock"
and
"fastboot reboot"
after getting back into the bootloader using the Quick Boot app.
I then installed TWRP from:
[RECOVERY] [OFFICIAL] TWRP 2.2.2.1 for Acer Iconia Tab A100
then used TWRP to wipe and install CM10 from:
[DEV/WIP] CyanogenMod 10 Preview
and the Jelly Bean optimized Kernel for A100 from:
[DEV] [KERNEL] UNOFFICIAL - Jelly Bean optimized Kernel for A100
and the Gapps file gapps-jb-713.zip from:
http://d-h.st/I1K
After logging into my Google account and downloading a filemanager,
and letting it do a few updates, I used TWRP to make a backup from
my real SD Card.
I then ran/installed "jb-mount-swap.sh", Crossix's mount swap modded for CM10 by pio_masaki,
got that from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29592981&postcount=101
I put the "jb-mount-swap.sh" in "/etc" then changed permissions on the "jb-mount-swap.sh"
to give it everything, I then updated BusyBox and Superuser, and used Script Manager to
load "jb-mount-swap.sh" on every boot.
UPDATE
"jb-mount-swap.sh" Should be placed into "/system/etc"
The next problem was the touch screen sensitivity was crazy and the tablet was hard to use,
It was not like that in ICS.
I found this:
[Q] Screen too sensitive
And tried this first:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22777698&postcount=65
I used "Acer Liquid Settings", found the app over at:
[APP] Liquid-settings v 1.3 final
and it sometimes worked but I still had problems, so I tried "TouchRecalibrate"
from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20189952&postcount=52
and seems to work a little better.
Tips and Fixes:
I had the CM10 launcher Trebuchet endlessley crash after changing some CM10 settings,
so I wiped the Trebuchet settings by going to "Settinga/Apps/All/Trebuchet/Clear data"
I then downloaded and installed a different launcher, I used Nova.
If you change the lcd density the Play store might start showing "Your Device Is Not Compatible With This Item"
you may be able to fix by going to "Settinga/Apps/All/Google Play Store/Clear data", and doing a reboot, you
may also have to change the lcd density back to the way it was, on my a100 its set to "160"
You can load a TEXT file from the Android browser by typing: "file:////mnt/external_sd/YOUR-TEXT-FILE.TXT"
or "file:////mnt/sdcard/YOUR-TEXT-FILE.TXT"
I had some wallpaper problems until I placed the wallpapers into "sdcard/media/wallpaper"
and used the APP "image 2 wallpaper"
My Problems:
My GPS doe not work, I have tried all the fixes that I can find, but my GPS just will not work, I have tried
[DEC.05.2011] Instantaneous GPS Fixation v1.2! *FOR ALL ANDROIDS PHONES!*
[GPS][Fix] Automate long term orbit data download
AGPS Patch Iconia 3.1 & 2.2 | GET BACK TO RAPID GPS LOCK, CAN LOCK ONTO MORE SATS
I have been using GPS Essentials and GPS Test to try and get a GPS lock, I never get anything, I tried with and
with out a case, I tried leaving it set out side for about an hour, it never got any satellites.
GPS UPDATE
My GPS now works, all I had to do was re-flash the ROM, Kernel, and Gapps, I made a backup
before I re-flashed my rom using TWRP, and restored "Data" only from that backup right
after I re-flashed, that restored my APPS, and passwords.
HDMI and Bluetooth Mouse UPDATE
I found a HDMI to VGA converter that works well, it also outputs audio, here is the link
SANOXY HDMI to VGA and Audio Converter (Support 1080P, Input HDMI, Video Output: VGA, Audio Output: 3.5 mm-outs)
It only converts HDMI to VGA, it does not scale anything, but the video and audio are both good,
however video is a tad soft looking, might be the cables I am using, you do have to adjust the monitors
settings, but I was able to fill the screen, I tested a a few monitors with the converter box, the Viewsonic
vs11354 I have worked fine, an old NEC LCD1560NX did not, and the Sharp 720p TV that I had problems
with HDMI, worked well threw its VGA with some screen adjustment.
I also got a Motorola Bluetooth Mouse SJYN0817A, it works well and does not die on me, it also pairs
without a pin like the Wii Remote controler, it was cheap, I think they are getting rid of them.

I knew about both guides, but this was from my own notes, that I wrote for my self,
I take notes on stuff I do like this for two reasons, one is if I screw up, the other
reason is if I forget.
I often use the Web browser to open a text file containing my huge WiFi passwords
and such, so that I don't have to retype them, this is done before I have a
file manager, and often downloading and installing a file manager is the next
thing I do.

I appreciate your addition to the A100 forums. Several of your links are broken on my end. As for the GPS, I would suggest a full wipe and reflash as a starting point.
Edit : I'm assuming GPS was working fine on stock?

I got the tablet refurbished and then let it do the OTA updates, the very next thing I did was
root, install recovery and CM, I only used it about a day or so with ICS and only installed what
I needed to, I never thought to test GPS, I guess I can try to backup, then wipe and reflash.
Thanks for pointing out the bad links.

I swear that TouchRecalibrate does nothing! lol
I had to do some google searching and there are a lot of reports saying that you must follow the instructions carefully, and than it says recalibrating and does nothing, no matter how long you let it set.
I may be wrong.
Now Liquid Settings, I set the sensitivity to 0 and it did help.
Thanks for those! Pretty cool.

I get two problems with sensitivity, touch is too sensitive, and I get rapid touches from a single touch,
TouchRecalibrate does seem to help, but not completely, as it seems to help the most with the rapid
touch problem, and not very much for the sensitivity.
I also would not doubt the pseudo effect, but from what I understand the TouchRecalibrate APP is made
for the ViewSonic gTablet that seems to share the same resolution and CPU, its just that the screen sizes
and PPI are different, so there is a possibility of it working.

I backed up, then wiped, then reinstalled CM10, Kernel and Gapps, and then restored "data"
only, from the backup I made earlier, let it reboot, and now GPS works, I got 9 satellites
a few seconds after walking out the door WOW.

Cool man glad it fixed it for you. Enjoy
I just had something odd happen, I started having trouble changing the wallpaper,
then the "jb-mount-swap.sh" stopped working, some games and apps also stopped
working, and it froze and then spontaneously rebooted on me a few times, I tried
rebooting and changing the directory of the "jb-mount-swap.sh" file thinking I had it in the
wrong place, I tried placing the file in both the internal and external storage and rebooting,
I even made sure the permissions were correct, then out of the blue the A100 only booted
to a blank screen, and would not boot into android, so I booted into recovery, factory
wiped, installed CM10, the Jelly Bean optimized Kernel for A100, and Gapps, then
restored my "Data" from my backup, and it seems to be working, I wonder what happened ?
If the mount swap is removed or stopped from running it can cause allot of issues with apps. The mounts go back to normal so apps lose their data and info and go insane.

I had the storage card problem again, shortly after the last restore, this is what I did to fix it.
I put "jb-mount-swap.sh" into "/storage/sdcard1/" and made sure the permissions were correct, I then
checked Script Manager's "List" it showed a few phantom "jb-mount-swap.sh" from when I tried using
other directories, so I deleted all of them, then with Script Manager I selected "SU" and Boot" icons for
"jb-mount-swap.sh" and pushed the "save" tab, I then updated Superuser and BusyBox, and its working,
hope it stays that way. :fingers-crossed:
You do know that's supposed to run from /system/etc? I'm surprised its working at all considering you're remounting the partition its sitting on.

I had put "jb-mount-swap.sh" into "/etc/" not "/system/etc" I wonder if thats why I had problems,
it does seem to be working good in "/storage/sdcard1/" I have not had any problems, but I will
move "jb-mount-swap.sh" over to "/system/etc" to help keep any future problems to a minimum.
/etc and /system/etc are linked, so that's fine.

"jb-mount-swap.sh" stoped working after I moved it into "/system/etc" but the superuser APP shows
that it gave root to SManager just after boot, and when I use SManager to run "jb-mount-swap.sh" I get
"mount: Device or resource busy", I then reboot, and the "jb-mount-swap.sh" is working, so I reboot again,
and "jb-mount-swap.sh" stops working, its does this:
(1) "jb-mount-swap.sh" not working
(2) Reboot
(3) "jb-mount-swap.sh" is working
(4) Reboot
(5) "jb-mount-swap.sh" not working
Did you update smanager to run it in the new location?

Just for a test, I copied the "jb-mount-swap.sh" to another directory, then deleted
"jb-mount-swap.sh" in "/system/etc" I then made sure that "jb-mount-swap.sh" was
not listed under SManager's "List" or "Favorites" then I copied the "jb-mount-swap.sh"
back to "/system/etc" and set it to run with SManager again, I still have the problem,
so the next thing I tried was using SManager to change the "jb-mount-swap.sh" file
permissions, so I used SManager to remove all the permissions for "jb-mount-swap.sh"
and then add them back, rebooted a few times and it still has the problem.
I tried reinstalling SManager, did not help, I tried using ROM Toolbox to run the script at boot,
but still have the same problem.
