Been having this problem since I rooted and installed the latest CWM recovery via rom manager. I'm currently on cm 7 rc1 if that helps
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
It's more of a "feature" than an issue I believe. Could be wrong.
I don't prefer it either, I would try another rom to see if it happens on there as well.
Yes this happens all the time it is known.. I hate it too I like to do a full charge while phone is off... not much can do except try to talk to dev...
IIRC, the image icon for when the phone is charging while its off is stored in the stock recovery. Since we flashed cwm over it, everytime we plug our phones in to charge while its off, the phone will call for it, make it go into recovery, and then we get cwm.
Get the same thing with CWM on gingervillain 1.5

The rom has nothing to do with it. Its all with us flashing CWM over our stock recovery.
Working as intended.

So I updated to the newest version of Clockwork Recovery and have backups that have a previous versions as well but as some of you may or may not know v3 is full of bugs.
I cannot flash or restore anything and the phone boots and force closes everything off of the restore. Only thing that seems to be working is 3G, wifi, and unlock screen. When I slide to unlock I get HTC Sense and HTC DM forced closing over and over.
Is there anyway to force a downgrade or switch to amon ra recovery from recovery mode?
Try doing a full wipe in recovery.

Tried the full wipe but the phone continues to act the same way, keeps rebooting the htc "quietly brilliant" screen.
CWM Recovery 3.0.0.X
If that doesn't work you may have to flash a stock image and re-root. Once re-rooted you can flash a prior recovery 2.5.x and restore from there. That's what I had to do after upgrade to 3.0.0.0. Not hard just frustrating.
I'm pissed. This should have been tested thoroughly. This isn't like some game that FC's. This screwed a lot of people. Unroot and re-root like he said.

I didn't have to reroot.
The latest version of ROM Manager allows u to flash to the 2.5 recovery in the Previous Versions of Clockwork button in ROM manager. Worked like a charm.

I tried that and it didn't work. It said something about scripts.

Help!
I can't reroot or any of that, it won't get past the splash screen. I can access the recovery mode but when I restore a NAND backup or wipe and/or anything else it just reboots right into the splash again. This is a real big disappointment, I dont' think I will ever use clockwork again.

Koush talked about how in 3.0 he removed the support for the old scripts that google has dropped since android 1.6. He and AmonRa kept support for that style of scripting for a while, but most rom builders should have been off of those by now. CyanogenMod has been using the newer scripting for more than 9 months now.
Just flash alternate at bottom of cwm

so do i still have to re root even if im s off?
so im stuck on gingerbread, and can only use my backup with is a gingerbread one, when i reload cwm 2.5.x through fastboot its doesnt work just loas the rom and never boots past the htc screen. being stuck on gingerbread aint the worst but i always like to move around. any ideas?
try flashing the recovery from rom manager, this will install the 2.5 recovery. fastboot flash will only work if you have the eng h-boot, radio s-off won't do.
yeah got the eng h-boot
and im geting into 2.5, and it says it loads but no dice.
doing the install through rom manager just force closes on gingerbread for me.

You can't flash back to CM6 via the ROM Manager. You need to flash CWR v2 via the ROM manager, boot into recovery and manually flash your CM6 backup. And be sure to do a full wipe of everything before flashing

You should still go the gfree route, they found the initial hack could be overrided; check the Wiki here for a guide to use gfree for those of us that rooted from the get go.

Okay, I think I got it. You flashed Gingervillan without backing up your stock ROM?

If you want to flash a non-GB ROM, you need the CWM2 (which is what you did). It sounds like after you put this recovery back though, you tried to flash a GB backup? This won't work (since anything GB requires CWM3).
If you have the CWM2 recovery, just go download any Froyo-based ROM you want to use, place the zip on you SD card, boot into recovery, and apply the zip.
nah just tried to flash a 2.2 rom through cwm2.5 no backup will only flash gb backup through 3.0.0.5
So my roms i download will install and boot up but once i get to that specific roms boot screen it just does an infinite loop. i then take the battery out, boot it into recovery and go back to my back up. I am not sure why it is doing this and would just love to be able to use cm7 (which did the infinite boot as well). its rooted using unrevoked and i have used a few other roms on it as well this has just been what has been happening lately. any help would be much appreciated!!
Had the same prob with cm7 #22, but 23 is working just fine, try that one. Remember the Dec said some may be broken, just fish around, but be very careful.

Sorry, meant to say the "dev" said some cm7 nightlys are experimental and may be broken. Flash to the last rom that functioned for you, then use rom manager to download the latest cm7 nightly. Which is what I'm using now and am very satisfied with.

see i tried the latest one and a few others. im not sure what it could be, that makes them go to the infinite boot screen. Should i try factory reset, root it again, restore my old version, then try to boot more roms?

Flash CM7 in recovery. Then BEFORE you reboot, install a different kernel
This is your best choice for CM7 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905873
Then reboot your Inc and see if it boots up, I have heard of a couple people who couldn't get their Inc to boot up with the stock CM& kernel, no clue why though.
hahaha so i got it to work. it was rom manager not letting me go through with it all. just did it manually through recovery. but i got sm7 to install and no notification bar. hence why im laughing. just gonn install miui and give her a shot.
I had a rom, that restarted the phone on its own, and the launcher kept getting erased, so i installed another rom and it wouldnt work.I had to Odin, and then have tried to install about 6 diffrent roms, with none working. Either it will get stuck in a boot loop, or just the buttons would light up with no screen. Please Help me
Give us more information. What roms are you trying to install. Rfs or ext4. What cwm are you using?

You listed his issues he's probably flashing in wrong Cwm or with wrong build....
Odin the ECO5
THEN ROOT WITH THE ONE CLICK ROOT 3.0.2.5
THEN FLASH ACS FROZEN 1.1.1 (Best ROM Ever )
.... Thats it
thats exacly what i did. Frozen was the 1st rom..then i later went to the gingerbread leak (anoymous) and it was working but i kept losing data connection so i went back to urban fury...then it ramdomly would reboot with no launcher and i tried to reinstall, and ever since then all i can do is odin. i wonder if my root some how is messed up or something
I'm currently running acs's sfr 1.1.1. I Flashed it twice because I had a bad flash. But otherwise its running great. There's great vid's that show you step by step. It should be in sfr 1.1.1 first post in the dev section.

What ROM?
And if its SRF did you download the version without the kernel included? Or the one with the kernel in it?
Could be bad downloads?
Try running CWM 3.0.0.6? I think is the previous version
I was having a ton of problems with 3.0.2.5 constant boot animation loop
couldn't get past any of the roms boot animations
I odin'd back to EC05, completely rerooted with the previous clockwork and it flashed good after the second time of course
had the double boot logo at first lol
if that doesnt work you could go into the bonsai recovery, I havent had any problems with that recovery at all
I am an Atrix user. Never had a problem flashing anything with it. My friend gave me his Evo to root and load a rom on. I was able to root and s-off OK, but just d/l'd a rom and tried to flash. Got stuck on the HTC EVO 4G boot screen. Pulled the battery, then booted into recovery. I did not backup ( I then wiped everything to begin flashing the ROM again. Well, now it seems that I have deleted everything. All b/c I was rushing and not thinking clearly. Anyway, is there ANYWAY to remedy this issue? It powers on to Hboot, but thats as far as it goes.
So you can't get into Recovery from Hboot? What happens when you try to get into recovery? If you can get into Recovery you could wipe everything then flash a ROM. Depends on what happens when you try to get into recovery.
If you couldn't get into recovery, I would download AmonRa as a PC36IMG.zip (link in my signature).
If that doesn't work, you could do something similar to a SBF. It is called a RUU. Search for the one corresponding to his Hboot version, plug up your phone and get to hboot and run it as an .exe. Resets to stock.
Try recovery thing first

Thanks for the quick reply. I am able to get into recovery, but when I choose flash zip-choose, it brings up nothing. Its empty.
I will research the RUU method now!! Thanks again!
If you just erased everything, go to recovery, wipe everything, use USB Toggle (If you have Amon Ra Recovery) put a ROM on your SD Card and try to flash it.
BTW, how long were you on the 4G screen?? Because it's gonna take a while to load the ROM and boot up on the first try
You didn't accidentally wipe and/or partition your SD card, did you? Try flashing AmonRa recovery as PC36IMG.zip (I'm guessing you are using clockwork). After you do that, go into Recovery and partition SD card. Then plug up to computer and mount as MS and transfer your ROMs over to your phone. Wipe everything except for SD (thrice is my rule) and flash the ROM and reboot. First boot takes a while, sometimes 5-10 minutes

Thanks, I will try that! I was on the 4G screen for over 20 mins. I got worried once it went over 10 mins, but let it go. Then once 20 mins went by, I pulled the battery.
Guys, Just wanted to say thanks again! I was able to connect using USB Toggle, put a new ROM on, then flashed. Everything went OK this time around. I spent some time on it while doing my work (I was at work haha) but enjoyed tinkering and learning another device. The quick responses saved me, otherwise my co-worked would of went home phone-less rather then happy. Have a good one guys!
