Hi
I have got a problem since this morning and I really need some help. Everything was always working fine, I have a rooted HTC desire, running GingerVillain 1.3.
Yesterday I did an update to GingerVillain 1.4 through gingervillain updater.
The update was ok.This morning I take my phone, and try to reboot it.
And now, it is stuck in a bootloop on the green HTC logo.
I can access to hboot (0.80), but when I try to access to recovery to flash another ROM, I have got the green htc logo, then a black screen.
On this black screen, if I use the power button to wak up the screen, then I can see just one line saying : clockworkmod recovery v2.5.1.0. But I can't see any menu on the recovery.
So I can't boot my desire, I can't flash something else, I am kinda stuck...
I tried removing my SD card, and it is the same thing.
Thanks in advance for your help...
Did you check the feedback about GibgerVillain's update?
Yes I did. It seems that I am the only one with this kind of problem.

That means you did something wrong. Maybe the copy of the download was foul. Do you have S-ON or S-OFF?
Well, I don't know what I could have done wrong, but I have found a solution.
I went into fastboot, plug in to my PC, then launch a flash with an original ROM (RUU).
After that, a little Unrevoked to get root access and install a recovery, and i started again from draft.
Anyway, thanks for your help.
I'm glad you figured it out.

Stuck in a bootloop? Remove the battery. Go into the recovery, perform a full-wipe and flash again. If that not helps then boot youre phone again in the recovery and .....then:
Format youre sdcard from the recovery into swap=0, ext=512, remainder=fat32. You will loose all there is on youre sdcard.
Then after formatting. Turn off the phone. Take out the sdcard and copy the rom to youre sdcard. Put it back in the phone. Start youre phone in the recovery and flash the rom.
Thanks for the quick reply.!
The problem is i am unable to login to my phone. So how will i be able to flash the phone? only if i log in can i use rom manager isnt it? I am a total newbie at this. I would really appreciate it if you could explain this in detail to me!
thanks!
as I know power button with volume down together then wait then use volume down
to highlight recovery then power to enter.
It is explained in the first post of thus forum.
Hold down the back key while pushing the power button.
You will get a menu
Select Bootloader (by pressing power button)
Then wait for 10 seconds on the next menu
Scrol to Recovery with the volume-down button
Then you'll wait ten seconds and get a black screen with red traingle
now connect your phone to the pc with usb
start a adb recovery on the pc (for this you must have a recovery on the pc installed as well as Android SDK) in my case I just run the file recovery-windows.bat
Then you'll get a menu on your phone wit a lot of options, you can even select Ms-usb toggle after wich you can acces your sd card.
I am not a developer but think this is quite it. Download links are all in teh first thread of this forum.
Could you tell me if this would work?
I'll first wipe the phone, including the cache.
Then I'll copy paste the zip file of the Nextsense rom onto an sd card from my PC, insert into my phone, go to recovery mode, go to the sdcard-update.zip menu, and select the nextsense zip file.
Will that work?
Please help me out. and cheers to all u guys who took the trouble to reply so quickly. thanks..
I finally got it to work. All i did was I went into the recovery console, selected factory reset. and it got alright. Only problem is that i think my sd card got busted in the process. No idea what happened to it. It is not even getting detected by my laptop. I guess i ll have to get a new one. Thanks a ton to all the xda guys for helping me out. this forum is really kickass! I shall definitely return to xda to get help on further issues!
reformat your SD card , that should fix it !
Thanks! yeah, formatting the sdcard fixed it. Finally working properly now..
HTC desire stuck in bootscreen
I have the same problem with my desire. While loading a ROM with ROM manager the phone rebooted and started to install the ROM. But while it was installing it i error message came up and the phone froze. And after that it get stuck at the bootscreen. I've read the posts written earlier about this problem, but nothing works.
When I push volume down + power on the phone should think for a second and then show green texts about the SD card etc, but when this message shows it says it can't find anything on the SD card. And when I enter fastboot -> bootloader, it just throws me back to the home menu.. any ideas what to do?
you have to use recovery option in the bootloader
Unless you pushed the NewSense ROM via ADB you're most likely going to get a bootloop. After reading statements in the flashable versions of that ROM, that's what I've gathered: Bootloops.
Either wipe everything and install another ROM or install it the 'old school' way, using ADB.

Similar problem
Hey.
I tried to s-off my phone using alpharev and I had the "waiting for flashing to complete". I tried to check if the proces was running with some commands and it seem as if I managed to restart the proces. I finally gave up and removed the phone. Probably too early because now I can only get bootscreen and Clockwordmod recovery. I'm unable to get further than that and therefore I'm not able to start the s-off proces again.
Can anybody help me?

Flashing a new rom didn't help? Are you sure you wiped everything? Does it boot if you pull out the sd-card?

just solved it today, after about 20 full wipes, and upload about 30 times diferent custom rooms at least my phone woked up at CM10_VJ_4.1.2_v3.0 ROOM
dunno why my phone stucked on boot screen but now all is ok and I will never install chainfire on this phone
Ok so I tried to install a ROM using the ROM manager. My phone is rooted with Super user permissions on.
Anyway I waited about 30 minuted, the phone cycled on and off, and then just hung in the off position.
I could see that the USB charging light was on. I tried to hit the power button but all t hat came on was the bottom keys (they light up but nothing else) I removed the battery and put it back in, tried to reboor and the phone just got stuck on the HTC screen. (the first one)
I can get into the boot loader (holding power and down) but when I am in there I try to go to recovery and it just hangs in the HTC screen again. I tried plugging it into the usb and trying this but more of the same.
Any advice? Yes I have read some of the threads but I am a pretty new user and pretty nervous at the moment at the thought of having bricked this phone.
Thanks for any advice,
Phil
Also the info I get on the bootloader screen is as follows
BRAVO PVT3 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.83.00001
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL SYNT0101
Radio 5.09.00.08
Jun 10 2010
Then of course HBoot
I just want to add one more detail. I have tried Fake Flash. I put it onto my SD card and tried to boot into recovery. Again I get to the boot loader but when I click on Recovery the phone simply goes to the HTC screen and hangs there. Then it will either stay in that screen or turn off depending on who knows.
Also I tried formatting a new SD card I had lying around into Fat 32 and then putting fake flash on it and trying to boot with that. Same result.
Again gents, I have read the posts and have tried everything I have listed above so any advice or expertise would be more than welcome. Luckily I am still with in my 14 day return to store no questions asked time frame, but I'd really like to try to resolve this problem.
Thanks!!
I had that problem too. The only way to fix it was to wipe data.
Anyways flash this custom image see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748618
The problem is our devices are SLCD whereas rom manager and clockwork is made for AMOLED.
Goodluck and this will fix it
mfpreach's advice should help you. Just want to say that you can flash without going into recovery, look for PB99IMG.zip in this forum...
I've got the same problem but with an amoled desire - just gets stuck at htc logo - wrote about it here with no help really: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747775
Can't enter recovery & tried official RUU with no success - i'm gonna send mine off for repair i think - didn't know you could flash without recovery though - might give that a go first.
Just managed to fix my phone! See my thread for the solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7548991
Thank you so MUCH!!!!
This absolutly worked! I was able to enter recovery and restore my old image. I didn't even lose any of my info.
Ok so just to clear this up, are there different ROMS for different screens?
Where did I go wrong? Is my ROM Manager the wrong one?

No the ROMs are the same - i think it must have been some random corruption - i also use ROM manager so may be related to that.
Once you are rooted you can flash ROMS regardless of screen type.
What i do is just put the rom zip on my sdcard & then boot into clockworkmod recovery manually and flash the zip from that instead of using ROM manager.
So when u say u boot into cloookwork, do u mean that u boot into the bootloader? I am not sure I 100% understand.

Phone is currently stuck on a screen with a picture of a phone with a red triangle with an exclamation mark.
What do i do?
You're in recovery, press vol up and power and you get a small menu where you can select to apply the clockwordmod update.zip to reset your battery stats (assuming you're rooted)
Thanks so much. I thought something went horribly wrong.
My phone wasnt rooted, so i guess i shouldnt have even tried to reset the battery stats.
Thanks for the help.

Hi,
A long time ago, I believe I updated my HTC Hero with a custom ROM.
I currently have
- 2.1-update1
- SW: 3.32.405.2
I just sold the phone and tried to bring it back to factory settings.
But I can't.
It won't re-initialize and I can't even delete my GMAIL account.
In short, I don't care which version is installed, I just want the phone to be updated with an official ROM, so that its new owner can turn it on and configure it as if it was knew.
The phone is NOT rooted.
If anyone has a hint, I will consider it my XMas present.
Thanks a lot!
Tohin

Either wipe it from recovery or use a RUU http://www.shipped-roms.com/downloa...io_63.18.55.06P_6.35.15.11_release_signed.exe

Mine is doing this too,
I tried rooting during the downgrade process (Because I had gingerbread) next thing that happened was when it would start up, it would take a very long time for the white htc screen to show up, and would vibrate (constantly) for 2 full minutes. the white htc screen would then show "quietly brilliant" under the logo and boot. but now it's going to the phone with red exclamation mark in a triangle. Phone is not rooted, hit power and volume up, went to update zip, told me invalid...
what's next?
*edit*
p.s. htc inspire 4g.
also before black screen w/ triangle I ran hack-ACE to put stock ruu back.
restarted again, and now it's usuable, but still does the looooong boot up.
No touch Screen Sensation
Hi forum I am in desperate need of some help. I have an HTC Sensation with a non responsive screen. There was a software update I believe on the forum that claims to resolve this problem. I want to try an upgrade or something hoping my screen issue can be resolved. My problem is how can I upgrade a stock ICS firmware without the use of the touch screen or touch buttons. Or even root the phone from the boot screen.
Second question can I load my external sd card in another Android phone like to load the software on it and then insert it into the Sensation and then linstall it from the boot screen?
Thanks for your help

So i was running a miui rom and did a clean wipe to try and a new rom. I couldn't get past the boot screen of the rom so i figured it was just a bad download. so i went and unrooted the phone. i have Hboot .92 thew radio is 2.15.10.07.07. i have the phone to s-on. i downloaded and installed the stock verizon gingerbread rom by renaming it to th P whatever lol. the reboots gets to the incredible screen then goes the htc quetly brilliant screen then it does the droid sound and i get the red snapdragon logos. but when it get's to the droid eye after it circle goes back and forth once then freezes on the second one. it sits there for like 3 or 4 minutes and then it just reboots to the droid sound and snapdrogon screen then the droid eye and stops and just keeps repeating this. i am hoping someone on might have a cure for this. the only thing i can get into iss hboot. hoping it's not fried. thanks for your time. and sorry for the long post, just trying to be very detailed to get the right help.

Have you tried doing a factory reset from hboot, and then reflashing the ruu (PB31IMG.zip file) thru hboot again. Also why did you go s-on, just makes it way harder to reroot or fix issues like these? The only reason anyone should ever go s-on is if you need to return it to verizon under warranty.
the reason for s-on is because i was selling it and the new owner just wanted it stock. they know nothing about rooting or any of this kinda stuff. i do believe i tried the factory reset but i will give it a go again.
so i believe i have found the problem. and doing some research it's my own fault. i am still on the .07.07 radio baseband and i found out that i should have downgraded before getting s-on. now i don't know if i can fix this problem or did i just ruin my phone. hoping for some good news. thanks

Im pretty sure you have to downgrade the radio to get s-on. As in it wont work to get you s-on if your not on the right radio. Are you sure you didnt downgrade and doing the ruu just upgraded it again?
I would try doing the latest ruu.exe with a pc, instead of PB31IMG.zip.
i would love to but the pc will not read the phone because it just boot loops.

Try flashing the PB31IMG.zip ruu with fastboot. androidforums.com/incredible-all-things-root/487280-easier-way-flash-pb31img-files.html

Have you installed the phone drivers on your pc?
i have installed everything that i can to try and get this phone working. hboot comes comes up on the phone just fine and i can get to fastboot on the phone. when i go to recovery from fastboot it goes to the green triangle then it turns red. i do the volume and power to get to recovery but when it comes up i get a bunch of error messages. and am at a lost with this. all i know is i don't think it is bricked because i can get to hboot. when i try to install another pB file from hboot it either does not do anything or it tells me it failed because it was an older version. i am pretty sure it is a software problem i just can't figure it out.
Hello, I attempted to install a custom rom to improve my phones performance and stop it being sluggish, but it's backfired.
I was smart enough to back up my phone in Clockwork Recovery, and after I've restored my previous backup, well, my phone isn't booting.
It gets past the white HTC Screen (not Quietly Brilliant, just plain HTC) and for some reason it jumps to a black screen. Doing nothing. Just sitting there. I'm still able to access my HBOOT and Recovery but everything I try seems to get me no where. I tried rebooting and doing a factory reset. I could try another factory reset but I don't know where that would get me.
If anyone has any advise I would greatly appreciate it, thank you.
Daniel.

about your problem it's strange..your backup should hv worked cz you just changed recovery nothing else..
Exactly what I'm thinking, I just done another recovery just to be on the safe side, and now my phone is no longer going to a black screen, instead it's just stuck on the HTC screen. But I'll take up your advise and try a stock rom.

I followed all the instructions and for some reason it just didn't agree with my phone and wouldn't boot. Hence me restoring my phone.
Never should have bothered and left it as it was. I'll keep you posted.

Right, I just installed the Marvel Stock Rom you have, and it almost boots.
What I mean by this is, it goes through the HTC screen, then reboots.
On the second boot after the HTC screen it throws me back into ClockworkMod. I followed all the instructions you say to do and it still isn't cutting it :-/
