Hi there. I am planning to flash new baseband(radio) for my Desire HD. Visited this site: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=896597
I've downloaded the Radio flash.zip file from there and the preferred radio version. I am using LeeDroid v2.2.2 and Lee actually recommending to flash 12.28e.60.140fU_26.04.02.17_M2 version.
But when I was about the follow the steps shown, somehow I just cannot open the "Start Here" file. It appears to be a black command thingy coming out once I double clicked and it just closed in seconds.
(Q) Is there any other software I need to download in order me to use that files?
you could try
In ms windows, press start - run, type cmd, there will be a cmd window, then cd to your radio flash dir, type start here

Hi looceci.
Erm.. i manage to open up the cmd window(the black color window).
Erm.. about the "then cd to your radio flash dir, type start here". How should I do about it? I mean.. what should I type to go into that? that links to my radio flash. I typed radio flash and it didnt work.
It only says "<<the word i typed>> not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."
I've tried typing "start here" but it says that "Here" is not found. =/
The start here.bat just opens a command window, you can open one manually and proceed with the commands.
use the CD (Change Directory) Command from within that black screen.
so if your radio folder is located in your C: drive inside the radio folder type --- Cd C:\radio
so if your radio folder is located in your C: drive inside the radio folder inside the test folder for example type --- Cd C:\radio\test
Look in the address bar of the folder, you should be able to see the location of the folder there...
for more help search google for "Change Directory Using MS-DOS"
ok. i got it now. trial and error and now i got it. really learnt a lot from you guys. thanks!

I followed this
(Setting up the Android SDK
Download the file from above
Unzip to your desktop
Take the "android-sdk-windows" folder and move it to the root of your hard drive (C:\)
Right click on My Computer and click properties
Select the Advanced Tab or Advanced System Setting (Vista/Windows 7)
Select Environment Variables...
Press New
For Variable Name type: adb
For Variable Value type: C:\android-sdk-windows\tools)
and when I try to do this
(1. Run SDK Setup.exe
2. If it gives you an error go to settings and click on "Force http//....."
3. Select all options and let it download and install)
I have issues cause I dont have the SDK Setup.exe I have searched for it and can not find it, please help thanks Davey
also I installed the windows version
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
If you've added the tools folder to your path, you don't need to install anything, just type "adb <command>" in the cmd prompt and you're good to go.
if you talking about this
For Variable Name type: adb
For Variable Value type: C:\android-sdk-windows\tools)
yes i have done it and it still wont work. I have my phone is debugging and on charge only and when i open the cmd and type in adb it gives me is not recoginzied as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file,
then when i type (android-sdk-windows\tools) it gives me the system cannot find the path specified. I am lost
ok So on my other computer I got some progress, I opened sdk manager and got it all updated and the only real problem i am having now is (this is dumb) but I dont know my sdk name, like when it says
cd C:\**your sdk name**\tools (Press Enter)
I have been trying C:\android-sdk-windows\tools
thanks for the help! Davey
thank you I got it running now!!!!!! I did what you said and added it to the path not just a new varibable, thank you very much!!!

I'm trying to piece together information here. ADB for me is in my C:\, so when opening CMD prompt, I first type "cd/" (without quotes) then "cd AndroidSDK/tools". To get a list of ADB's commands, type "adb help". Maybe you're not using the proper syntax. I base this off the statement you made that when you type adb.exe it shows the adb commands, and command syntax usage.
Also note that changing your splash screen you must first S-OFF your phone. Here's a guide on how to do so
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=798168
That's the tricky part though, easy part is flashing your custom boot image.
File you will need: View attachment Boot_images.zip
Once you have the 320x480 boot image you want, open "CreateG1Splash", select your boot image, and convert it with this program. Once converted the new file will show in the same folder as CreateG1Splash, named mysplash.rgb565. Move this file to your ADB tools folder. Open CMD prompt and point CMD prompt to your AndroidSDK\tools folder.
Then boot phone into bootloader, then select fastboot. Plug the phone to CPU via USB, and type, "fastboot flash splash1 mysplash.rgb565". Reboot phone to see change.
Hope this helps!
The new version of SDK has changed a few things within the file system, so I'm just writing something here to show how it will work fast for everyone.
1. Install Android SDK
2. Update Android SDK through the program first.
3. Go to "Android\android-sdk\tools" (or wherever you've installed the sdk-tools) and copy "fastboot".
4. Paste "fastboot" in to "platform-tools"
5. Once that's done, to get directly to "Android\android-sdk\" to run ADB and fastboot without having any errors (or command prompt irritations) press SHIFT then right click "Android\android-sdk\platform-tools" and select "Open command window here".
6. Then it's just the case of pasting your .img file in to the "Android\android-sdk\platform-tools" folder, and you're good to go! (for example, in command prompt type: fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl.img)
Dan.
The reason why I have put this here is because I have had trouble trying to sort out the new SDK and I in fact had trouble with "missing files" within the folders. They weren't missing, it's just that the SDK folders have been cleaned up.
Follow this and you won't go wrong to flash anything through fastboot .
Dan
Please format your first post correctly (like second post), otherwise it's horrible to read.
I guess "old" sdk will still work properly?
when i tried to run sdk , got this error
C:\>android-sdk-windows\tools
'android-sdk-windows\tools' is not recognized as an internal or external command
,
operable program or batch file.
C:\>
can somebody help me to solve this error
i am on windows xp
what do you want to do?if you want to use the program inside the tools folder you should enter the folder. you can make a shortcut file by make a new txt file in tools folder, type cmd.exe then save the file. change the extension to *bat. in this way anytime you open the *bat file you'll enter tools folder in cmd automatically.
The folder you cd should have adb in it. Otherwise it won't work

Define more clearly !
The error you have mentioned isn't from sdk, its a cmd error & is trying to inform you that the command you entered isn't an executable(script or binary), its just a simple path to which you can cd not execute.
You can just find the windows executable(like *.exe, *.bat, *.cmd,.. etc) you are trying to execute & double click
Like the default location for Sdk Manager : "C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\SDK Manager.exe"
yup...thats right. but the *exe command only work if executed from cmd. he has solve this problem anyway. mod can close it now.
He didn't mentioned about gui or command-line. So replied that way.
That's not sdk error,....

Morning.
No doubt I am missing something dumb out here but I'm having problems here. Following HTC Dev instructions to the letter but when I open CMD it says C:\Windows\system32 NOT C:\Users\Admin\cd \Android
Tried typing in fastboot devices and just get not recognized. I've installed SDK, HTC Sync, JAVA etc.
Any help would be gratefully received
Navigate to the folder where also the fastboot exe file is located, open the command prompt directly in there and type the command again.
