Hey guys, I've been reading all over the XDA and Cyanogen forums looking for a fix to this.
Before, I wasn't receiving pics. So I changed the User Agent in Messaging Settings to iphone 3.0. Now I can receive pics, but I still can't send any pics.
I've tried Fixing Permissions, and i've tried a different messaging app, hancent. I've read a lot of solutions for other phone models, but they don't seem to apply to the Incredible. (Do I make an an adjustment to APN? How?) If I'm wrong on that, please let me know. Thanks.
Search for apn instructions for the inc. I don't have the exact instructionsl but they a floating around on here. And make wifi is off

I just installed desire z gingerbread rom and I found out the mms size really tiny and I flashed rmk_mms fix.zip in recovery menu. The mms size was increase to 3600k but when i sent the picture message it's still tiny. What should i do to fix this problem?
One thing to check is to see if ur friend sent you a small picture or something bigger. My friend sent me a 7kb pic the last time and didnt tell me that. Try have someone send a pic that is close to the mms max size and see if the pic is still tiny.

Spastic909 - The op's were several days apart so I guess the solution was found and its something else.
I can only guess the MMS fix fixes the OUTGOING messages. Incomming messages are resized if your operator (eg. O2 UK for me) doesn't recognise your phone. Gingerbread probably changed the string.
Look for modifying the user agent string in the MMS app and change it to something like the Nokia N95. You'll find the string on Google somewhere.

How many bans does a troll need before they go QQ somewhere else?

Uploading photos to facebook does not work for me.
The behavior is the same both when selecting photo upload from the facebook app, or when chosing to share to facebook from the gallery.
The upload progress in statusbar looks good and finishes, but then an error message is displayed in the statusbar that the transfer failed.
When initiating the upload from facebook a "popup" mesage that the photo could not be added is also displayed.
I tried wipe facebook cache and data and reinstall the app but that didn't solve anything.
I'm on AOKP build25 & franco kernel 18.6.
Anyone else with the same problem?
/Fredrik
I have the same problem, haven't found a way to fix it though... I'm running pure stock.

Ok, so at least I'm not alone....
Good to know that the problem exist also on stock. I wasn't sure if I ever tested it before I flashed a custom rom.

Did you try clearing the app's cache? Logging back in and trying to upload a pic again?
Yes, I wiped cache and data and even reinstalled the app.

Facebook's app is the worst written in Android history. It isn't your fault- they just can't write an update without breaking something. It's a known issue.
Possible solution
It's maybe a little late to offer a solution, but today I finally found out what could be the problem:
I normally share my pictures with "All friends, except ... " (please excuse wrong translation; don't know how it's called in English) and all my picture uploads failed without exception. Today I wanted to share a picture with "All" my friends and... it work perfectly! I tried some more and it seems my problems are gone.
So my possible solution:
-> You have to share with "all", not with some groups or with excluded people. The Facebook App and mobile site is too stupid to work with its own lists.
When creating a new post, just tap the little gear in the lower right corner and select share with "all". It's no solution for pics you don't want to show everyone of course, but it's the only workaround that allows you to upload at all.
After trying a couple things, such as clearing the app data/cache, reinstalling the app from the market, etc. I suspect that this is related more to the APN settings on the phone. I tested this by switching the APN on my AT&T Galaxy Nexus from the Tweakker APN settings (failed to upload pics/videos) to the original CINGULAR 410 (works like a charm, although it takes forever to upload). For reference, the Tweakker settings had the APN as "phone".
Hope this helps.

So, did you read my post above? I'm almost sure it makes all the difference. Tested this with a couple of friends and it works for everyone.

it is enough to only have one list of selfmade friend list. U do not have to share to "all" but u can make list of friends that can see your pictures, call it for example "see mypic friends" and only have that in the . But if u share it to: "see mypic friends" and "mom and dad" at the same it fails
Anyone know how I can change the user agent in order to receive full sized mms? I've searched for quite a while and can't find anything clear.. I changed it in the browser, but that didn't seem to do anything. I thought there was a setting in the messaging app, but I can't find that either.

Its working for me... does it not seem a bit clumsy in its implementation? You've got to switch back and forth between sms/hangouts. Two separate conversations. Not sure what I was expecting... but I dont think this was quite it.
I was reading that 4.4 would have both SMS and MMS in hangouts.
It's working for me very well. But still has some catching up to do even with the stock Galaxy s3 messaging app. Hangouts needs to be able to attach contacts or calendar or even a voice recording.

One contact = two conversations. One for sms messages, one for hangouts messages
I'm sorry to post a full newbie post here regarding this but I'm trying to settle some debate and confusion online about Hangouts 2.0
Basically has google "done it right" this time and copied iMessage? (No, I'm not an Apple fanboy)
The advantage of iMessage is that it defaults to data when possible, fallsback to SMS when it has to.
It's also completely seamless, this is handled for you - no need to manually change from data to SMS mode or anything.
2 more points:
iMessage allows you to SMS a "new" phone number for someone you've never encountered before, iMessage detects the phone number is "iMessage-able" and simply sends via data, no kind of handshake / friendship needs to be setup
and finally
There's no "online" status required of iMessage, you need not "log in" or always be set to online, it's an SMS app natively but you can communicate with people over data without them knowing you're necessarily "online"
The advantages as follows.
Cheapest possible was of conversing with friends (assuming your SMS plan is NOT unlimited, I'm in a country where it's pricey)
Privacy / "aloofness" - the lack of an online / offline requirement allows you to ignore a message and respond at your leisure, be it 5 minutes, 5 hours or 5 days. If someone however sees a green O next to your name with Hangouts, the social pressure / obligation to reply is there, you can't just relax if that makes sense (I guess this is an introvert feature)
Sorry for the long post but I'm hearing conflicting reports online that google STILL screwed it up - but that's from people who have obtained the Hangouts 2.0 APK file and do NOT have 4.4 KitKat, rumour has it that's required for the full backend SMS "engine" update to work like iMessage?
Thanks all, really appreciate your time.
EDIT: This also covers what I'm trying to clarify.

I looked for a similar thread and I couldn't find anything. I dont know if its rom specific or maybe a setting I missed somewhere.
I'm Military and I often get group texts from 10+ people at a time. I'm running Slimkat 4.0 release. Now I get the texts which is great but I get them all individually. Instead of all on one text. So I have multiple numbers texting me from one group and It's hard to know who was the original sender to reply. Is there a setting I happened to miss or is this something that I can fix through some help. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
There might be some settings there in the message app, but I have never used that ROM to be honest.. Textra works really well with group messaging however, you might want to give it a try!

I downloaded it and I'll give it a try. Seems to fit my needs for the "inverted" type. Hopefully its the app and Textra will fix it. Thank you.

You're welcome just remember if one of the recipient's SMS app doesn't support group texting, you'll still receive the messages individually, but only for those recipient's replies
