Today I installed the rom called Pirate rum. But now I can't mount my SD card. I tried booting into recovery to flash another rom. But not even clockwork can mount it.
I have tried using a cardreader in my computer. It reads the card fine.
I then backed up files and formatted the card, but it's still unreadable.
Also tried another card.
Are there anyone who might be able to help?

does the device read your sim card? it sounds like a usb brck if, its happening with more than one card
It reads the sim card. It's the SD card which doesn't work...
Also tried with amon ra.
I got it!
It was usb bricked. I remembered a tutorial from modaco, and fixed it.
Thanks Androhero. (For making me think it could be that. )
Ive got a new 16gb card coming, im running leedroid 2.2f with apps2sd. I thought it would be a simple swap but seemingly it isnt. Whats the best way to get everything onto the 16gb? Ive got a microsd card reader for the pc.
I dealt with the same issue recently. I copied everything from my old card to the PC, and then used ROM Manager to format and partition the new card. Aftrr that I copied everything I had on the old card to the new card. I'm using a variation of Leedroid's ROM as well.
Best of luck

How do I going about getting the data from the other partition? as I cant see that in explorer
Haven't thought of that. I didn't have a partition on my old card.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
well, bit the bullet, downloaded ubuntu, partitioned new sd card and copied everything from old card to new partitions, ext3 and fat. Put in phone and constant reboot at leedroid screen. I'd done a clockworkmod backup before hand so run restore and everythings okay now. Not the tidiest way of doing it but its worked.

i guess its time to buy a new card...even my card had same prob..

Try reformat it in the PC using Gparted - if that's not working, Search for USB BRICK and fixing.
If that won't help, then buy a new SD.
Well if thats the case, i will recover al my files with the repair programs i have, and then try to format it..but i was hoping for a way to recover everything without formatting the card..

AmonRa is reliable, but when the card is messed up, it maybe won't work correctly.
I am using GParted for partitioning, easy to use and always works.
Search Developent for tutorial (also with video).
Well gparted saved my sd card when the phone wont recognized and even the computer wont even recognized.

Well I run Gparted live USB, and the weird thing is that even gparted could not see the sd card.
In windows Disk Management it sees the sd card as RAW partition..any clue about the RAW format???
I rescued a lot of my files with other programs but even when they show that the sd card is healthy, windows, linux, android cannot recognize it. The only solution is to format it i think..
Hi all,
I am having an issue in all ICS ROM s such as virtuous quottro and cold sandwich.
When I open music app or player pro, I can't see the songs in my sd card. When I look in file explorer it is there.no issues however in other 2.3.5 ROM s.
In 4ext I noticed that sd card format is fat 32.
Cananyone please help what I am missing.
Thanks

Have you tried remounting it?
Yes i tried mouting it.. but in vain
I downloaded winamp and it was scanning songs on SD card for 20 - 30 min and then started showing up mp3 files. But still buggy/laggy. May be my phone's issue.
But no relief with gallery photos/videos.
So i have gone back to gingerbread ROMs for now.
Did you try another SD card? Just for testing that we can exclude the card itself as an error source.

have you tried the steps listed below yet? if yes, just ignore this post.
1. Switch off your DHD
2. Remove SD Card
3. Switch on your DHD
4. Insert your SD Card after 5mins
this thing happened to me when I was starting flashing ROMs and the steps above did the trick to make it work again
Ya did try that. But in vain. Anyway have gone back to virtous affinity for now till a stable ice cream ROM.comes out. Thanks anyway for the help all

Hi I'm pretty sure this won't be an extremely popular topic but just wondering how people go about formatting there sd cards do u just wipe everything save ur backups? Ur photos music? Anything and also is there anything important I shouldn't delete?? Just curious to see how everyone else does it thanx for being nice

Well, you can use your phone to format it by going into settings and storage. You should back up anything you dont want to lose to your pc. I find that the most effective way is to connect the sd card to the pc either in your phone via usb or via a card reader. Then go to my computer, right click on it and hit format. It thould already be in the right file format(fat32) if im not mistaken. Then just place your pics and whatever else back on there and the android system will do the rest. Hope i helped!

If you are working with a removable SD card I'd recommend HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool - v2.1.8. (free)
I had an 8 Gb card sitting around for a while and I wanted to use in my daughter's new phone. I put the card in the PC and deleted everything. Then I thought just format the damn thing. It seemed to only think it had 40 Mb. Windows would not format it to anything over 40 Mb. I had to download the HP tool and it would allow formatting to the full 8 Gb.
Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place.. I just installed coredroid 1.2 and my sd card is not detected. Removed the sd card. Complete format then reinsert still doesnt solve the problem. I am able to use the card using a card reader. Any suggestions

It sounds like you are formatting an existing (previously used) card? Do you have some issue with the card? Or just switching between devices? Can't see it making much difference using the built-in Windows disk management tool to format, using the phone to do it, or some other method.
I think even switching between devices, I haven't bothered to re-format, just deleted the files manually and swapped the card into the new phone.
For new cards, I don't even bother to format. They are always pre-formatted to FAT32, AFAIK. So I just insert it in the device and go . . .

I use SDformatter.
It's better than just with right click and select format.

if you have just one partition formated with fat32 on your sd-card, you can format it with windows-tools. if there is another partition (ext2/3/4) on your card, its not possible to format the sd-card completely with this tools and you need, as written above, an external tool like that from HP.
Beside this, i don't really understand why you want to do this, except you have a problem with your card...
i wiped my sd card with h.d.d low level format ! now i cant create right ext partition now . how can i do that ? i did everything with partition magic software . but not use .
If you have a Linux box and an SD card read use gparted. If you don't the best/fastest way is with a good recovery in an android phone
