Hi!
I got a brand new HTC Desire HD last saturday (26/2/2011) which was sim free and unlocked to all networks. When going into settings/about phone/software information it displays the following -
android version - 2.2
kernel version - 2.6.32.21 - gf3f553d
build version - 1.32.405.6 cl278359 release-keys
software number - 1.32.405.6
browser version - webkit 3.1
I assumed that it would have the latest software on it (1.72?) as it was a new phone. When I goto system software updates it informs me that there are no updates available...
My question is, how can I get it upgraded to the latest version of the software?
Regards,
Alan
Htc removed 1.72 due to some buga

Good to know. I wondered after rooting my phone there was only one update.

Heyyy,
I've tried a search but can't find the exact answer im looking for.....
I've got a HTC Desire bought it off o2 on contract and want to know if its contract-locked (meaning i wont get froyo this weekend), when I turn it on it shows an o2 logo but i've just put an orange sim card in it and it worked fine.
The Software Information is.....
Firmware Version - 2.1-update1
Baseband Version - 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2
Kernal Version - 2.6.29-c8d11160 [email protected] # 1
Build Number - 1.20.207.3 CL171460 release-keys
Software Number - 1.20.207.3
Browser Version - Webkit 3.1
I don't know if any of that information above helps lol, I'm new to the android scene so trying to catch up, thanks in advance for any help!
Judging by your software number, you won't get froyo update anytime soon
I have a Desire from Telus in Canada. I would REALLY like to upgrade to Froyo and wanted to know how to do it in a safe way that won't mess up the phone. So I'm wondering if anyone here has done it yet.
Please let me know!
This is what my Software Information screen shows:
Firmware version
2.1-update1
Baseband version
32.41.00.32U_4.08.00.09
Kernel version
2.6.29-e5576724
htc-kernel and18-2 #1
Build number
1.29.661.1 CL198499 release-keys
Software number
1.29.661.1
Browser version
WebKit 3.1
Use the general guides for rooting the device with revolt (make sure you grab the custom image for SLCD screens!), then head over to modaco and you can find a stock Froyo rom there unless you want to run a custom one.
for me i didn't have to do any rooting. first i used this guide. create a gold card first though. after creating the gold card, i used this very first link in the first post to update to froyo (2.09.405.8). after that, you can go to ota updates in the settings on the desire and it will then upgrade it to 2.10.405.2.

Hi there XDA,
I recently sent my phone off to Orange as it stopped working. They sent a new HTC Desire HD out, however it has the Orange logo on the back, and my previous one from them didn't, as it was one of the first from them and they didn't put their software on it. I would like to do a few quick checks to see if my new phone is Branded, or running the latest HTC software. This is what I am seeing in my Software Information Screen.

It seems to be non-branded, and it is running the latest HTC software. There should be an OTA soon, but that will disable rooting. If you want to root & S-OFF, do it now. Radio S-OFF will survive the OTA, so if you want to give yourself a free ticket back to the world of rooting, I suggest you get it.

Thanks, that's good news then, would you be able to hook me up with a link directing me to a tutorial on how to do these things? I swapped phones with my Dad, and this is the second day i've had the Desire HD, if it was on the Desire it'd be no problem, but im not too good with the HD, once again thanks man.
Hi jaaystott.
The person who replied you just now (jkoljo) creates this Radio S-OFF tool. follow his guide and you will be fine.

Hey guys, I need the T-Mobile UK RUU please. I've searched here and Google, but no luck as of yet. All links seem to be dead. The only one I can find is on FileFactory, I've tried to download it the last half hour, what a site!!
Can anyone help???
Cheers
Anyone? I've found a generic one I think, but running the software update I'm still on 2.3.3 with sense 2.1 I thought the DHD had been updated this year?

Just to add some info of what I'm running now;
Android Version: 2.3.3
Sense: 2.1
Baseband: 12.54.60.25U_26.09.04.11_M
Kernel: 2.6.35.10-g0956377
Build Number: 2.36.405.8 CL47853
Software Number: 2.36.405.8
Can anyone confirm what ROM this is? Generic HTC?
Also, sense 2.1 sucks after using 3.5!!!
AFAIK it's a generic HTC http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=repository&id=810&c=htc_desire_hd_android_2.3_os_upgrade_2.36.405.8
Cheers for confirming
I recently decided to go ahead and do the fota update which took my phone to:
Android version 2.3.5
Htc sense version 2.1
Software number 2.14.161.1
Kernel version 2.6.35.10-ga66971c [email protected] #1
Baseband version 47.23a.35.3035sh_7.53.39.03m
I am using a htc wild fire s a510e unlocked carrier but branded vodafone uk
Before the upgrade I was on android version 2.2.3.
Since the upgrade the hotspot intermittently disconnects, I never had this before the upgrade. Could someone please point me in the direction of a fix or how to drowngrade back to the pervious version that I had no problems with.
Many thanks
