hi guys.
okay, I´m currently running arrrghhh's froyo-bundle on my "T-Mobile Mda Vario IV (HTC Raphael 300)".
as it seems, nobody else uses or even heared of that HTC Touch Pro clone ^^
first at all, I installed the bundle with the startup.txt of the RAPH100. installation was fine, everything was working (eccept for the known bugs).
but there was one point which confused me; have a look at that page:
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomparer&id=12&c=all_htc_raphael_variants
have a closer look at all the buttons and then notice the swapped buttons on the t-mobile clone (RAPH300). -.-
so everytime I hit the "back" button, the phone turns black/locks. when I press the "home"-button I get a list of all my calls.
also when touching the upper button, the lower button lights up and so on..
is there a chance to switch the buttons? I already wrote PNs with 'arrrghhh' and he said it seems that I´m the only guy which uses the phone
don´t get me wrong, I will not complain. I can live with the swapped buttons. ^^ but if there is a chance to fix that, would be great
(I think) You will have to find your answer within the rootfs/you will have to edit it some how. In the meantime you could change the end button behavior to either set it under spare parts; if you are using xdandroid as i could not find it in the neopeek variants.
no you are not the only , i have that phone too, don't worry about the buttons because its all right, software doesn't make changes on these, buttons will work fine as they worked before on WM. But can you explain me please how did you installed Android on this?? cause i tried different bundles raph100 500 800, and no one works. Haret starts for a while and then it stops saying something about the memory card is busy! actually i formated it before!! can you send me a link with the bundle that you used please ? thank you
I also have a Raphael 300 running (T-Mobile MDA Vario IV), but from T-Mobile NL, here I have the current FRX05 complete bundle running from arrgh on top of the forumthreads right now.
This still has some issues, but is the currently most stable version I have yet tested. But the Home Button is somehow not in the function it should be, but that a minor issue for me.
Hello,
I got a RAPH120, it's the german O2 XDA Diamond Pro.
It has the same button layout as the german MDA Vario 4, and i don't think, that there is any difference in those phones besides the branding.
I use in startup.txt for keyboard layout "german_raph" and everything is working fine with the FRX05 complete build.

restart doesn´t help. but maybe you can post the content of your startup.txt in this thread? because on my device the sleepmode leads to some lockups, no matter which mode I choose...
the only thing i changed from the RAPH100 Startup.txt is to put for keyboard:
Code:
physkeyboard=german_raph
I don't have the txt right here, if you need it, I will upload it, when I'm home.

Could you upload your startup.txt here, same problems here, also freezes time-to-time
here my startup.txt:
Code:
set ramsize 0x10000000
set ramaddr 0x10000000
set mtype 1910
set KERNEL zImage
set initrd initrd.gz
set cmdline "lcd.density=210 msmvkeyb_toggle=off gsensor_axis=-1,-2,3 board-htcraphael-navi.wake=0 pm.sleep_mode=1 physkeyboard=german_raph"
boot
sometimes i got random freezes too, but not to bad. I think it usually happens, when you let the phone go to sleep and you don't have the launcher on top.
I get it, when i let the phone sleep after an alarm rings e.g.
that´s the point, I like my alarm function in the morning before I go to work
but thanks for the startup.txt, german keyboard works perfekt! also with "Ö, Ä and Ü" ^^
this morning, it didn't freeze, i used it for like a minute after the alarm.
an yes, i like that keyboard too. It's like heaven compared to other phone inputs like milestone e.g..
this morning, everything worked fine. now I´m @work and the screen stays black, no chance. so reinsert battery and reboot again...
Has anybody a solution?
I face the same problems with MDa Vario IV...it's annoying to take the right buttons...
Right now all devs are focusing more on RHOD and some TOPA but none for RAPH. The idea is that the devs hope that RHOD development will be passed down to the RAPH. So, unless you have the know-how, one is only adding on to the same questions being repeated over and over but in different ways(makes for difficult searching).
For example, one of the first things one would have to figure out is how to collapse and wake the panel properly, as this is not being done for obvious reasons. The work around I have posted many times in other threads, forums, works for me and a few others but not for all.
Additionally, if you want to disable the end as power key, one would need to set this in spare parts

currently I am testing my FRX05 Build on Stability. I think the display driver is not perfect, but it is not the cause of SoDs. Everytime when my phone had a SoD, it was very warm.
I experienced a similar situation, when i used GPS or charged the phone, or both.
I don't use the GPS or CTL Services on the phone, i use my old Kaiser as Navigation System, so i disabled both Options.
This is still in testing, but since i disabled those Options, my phone is still alive.
My normal way to work is 20 kilometres, and it was normal to have a SoD after this distance.
Yesterday i had an appointment 300 kilometres away. On the way to this appointment my phone had a SoD. I restartet Android, and disabled CTL. (I disabled GPS before). Since then, after more than 450 km of travelling, and 22 hours, the phone didn't had a SoD.

Not sure what CTL is, but the RIL is a HUGE cause of the SoD issue. Basically poor service, switching 2g/3g, cell sites, etc - cause the SoD condition. hyc is testing/building new RIL's, and they've been working great - they should be phone-agnostic, check it out!
CTL = Cell Tower Location
and yes, i thought RIL was causing SoDs too, but since i got an SoD in Airplane mode, with activated GPS, i was not sure about that.
I live in an area which has not the best 3G coverage, my phone is switching between G and 3G all the time, when i am at home.
Maybe RIL is working better with GSM than CDMA.
I will report any SoDs, when i got some, until now, my phone is running very smooth (without OC).

Ah, what you call CTL, I call netloc .
Try out that new RIL, it should help both CDMA and GSM folk. It's just that a ton of code was missing for CDMA, we were really running in a fake GSM mode this entire time .
ok, i'll call it netloc from now on
I will try FRX06 with the new RIL.

Has anyone else noticed their Dash's keyboard backlight not turning off? Very frequently (but not always), the keyboard backlight stays on (and doesn't turn off) after I initiate keylock. The lcd dims and goes off, but the keyboard stays on and won't go off on its own - so far, I've timed it staying on for a whole hour after initiating the keylock. I have to undo keylock, redo it, and sometimes do it a couple times to end up with the Dash locked and the keyboard backlight out. As you can imagine, it's a real drain on the battery, not to mention a real pain.
Has anyone else noticed this, or know what might be causing it (maybe a bug or something I've done)?
I was just going to write about this, but you beat me to it. Happens to me as well, randomly. I don't know if it is a program that is running on the background when the LCD shuts off, but it is very frustrating. Any ideas?
I've noticed it, usually after the device reboots -- stays on until I hit a key, then it'll time out normally. Probably one of those quirks that'll wind up fixed in a future ROM update.

I was wondering whether a background app was causing it too. I'm new to Win Mobile smartphones, so I'm curious what the likelihood is that T-Mobile will actually release an update for the Dash (at least to those that have already have the Dash), and if they did, how they might go about deploying it (user install made available by T-Mobile, T-Mobile install, or user having to install leaked/hacked ROM's made available on sites like this)? I've been a T-Mobile customer for many years, and at least with my previous phones (non-smartphone), T-Mobile hasn't had the best track record with firmware/software updates. New firmware updates would be released by the manufacturer, but T-Mobile would always claim they didn't have any updates available.

That's strange - hitting a key on my Dash doesn't get it to timeout! In fact, it seems that the keyboard backlight goes out, and then about 10 seconds later, relights (and won't go off). Very strange!
I've noticed a lot of bugs that T-Mobile needs to fix with the Dash: The XT9 bug, keyboard backlight, the call status screen showing gibberish (when using MS Voice Command to initiate a call), WiFi having problems connecting. Here's hoping to a quick update from T-Mobile!
Hi, Ive just upgraded my Orbit from B&B 3.7 to B&B 4. Everything went well, ROM was running like a dream. After a while of tinkering and using it I noticed a few random issues:
1 - Power button: suddenly stops turning screen back on. Screen turns off OK, but will not turn on again. Soft-reset is needed to startup again.
2- Sound disappearing: sound randomly disappeared for no reason. Have removed HTCHome from today (due to known issue) and it wasnt that. I have nothing on today screen, no running programs, nothing loading at startup. All of a sudden after about 5 resets it came back on.
3 - Blue Rollr-ball and scroll wheel: did work when first flashed device, but now no longer respond, in any menu or window the blue light does not even come on (although does come on when first booted and when screen turned off).
4 - Battery life depleted? - seems to drain battery quicker than normal (although this may be due to me having to leave backlight on constantly as explained in point 1)
5 - Wifi : seems to only stay connected for approx 2minutes. Although it will stay connected if constantly being used (ie. if I browse page after page will work, but if I stop to read a page for minute or two I need to disconnect and re-connect)
Thats all I have noticed so far but will post any new issues.
This post is not to put Orbit user's off using B&B 4 or to disrespect Tom or his efforts at all. This is just my findings so far and hope Tom could read and add any thoughts, I do love B&B 4 its a wicked ROM and fully appreciate the work Tom has put inot building it many thanks, keep up the good work man.

Ok the HTC fix is the only thing I can find there, not sure if it has fixed the sound thing yet I will let you know. The Red end call button works also, dont know why that wasnt working earlier. But the other issues remain:
Power button still wont turn screen back on after switched off or locked device using device lock.
Blue Rollr-ball and sroll wheel not working at all
Wifi not lasting very long ( although I think I read posts elsewhere about tht so not too worried )
Any thoughts on the hardware buttons anyone ?
Nope, sound gone again. Installed the HTChome fix (both weather and tab, then tab and weather) still no joy. It was working for a period, now its gone off again. Any time any sort of sound tries to come from the speaker I just recieve a high-pitched "ding" then no more sound until reset.

Sad your having such a rough time but to make sure its not your device, have you reflashed an original ROM and checked your handset to make sure these problems have gone away. Also, how about reflashing the BB v4.0 ROM again and see if it improves, others prior have posted success after a reflash.
I'm happy these BB ROMs have worked flawlessly from first flash (except with known bugs).
Good luck to you on your journey.
Ok got the sound thing sorted myself. Turns out the sound will only work if I boot my Orbit up while plugged into my PC with Activesync running. Its not a USB thing, Ive tried with just my charger plugged in but no sound there. I also tried loading Activesync on my Orbit before touching anything else, still no sound.
The only way I can have working sound on my Orbit is if I boot up while plugged into my PC with Activesync running ??

Hi,
Like you sure have heared before, the Touch Pro 2 disconnects the Wi-Fi when in standby mode. Normally this isn't a big problem, but because i often use MSN messenger on my phone, it automatically enables GPRS/UMTS when the phone goes in to standby. Because of this i will have data costs when i have a Wi-Fi available too. I have tried some tweaks i found here already. I have used tools like HD tweak. These wouldn't work for me. I have also tried changing the registry keys manually. I changed to following keys.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Power\State\Suspend\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}
-change (Default) DWORD Dec to 1 (was 4 before)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Power\State\Resuming\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}
-change (Default) DWORD Dec to 1 (was 4 before)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Power\State\Unattended\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}
-change (Default) DWORD Dec to 1 (was 0 before)
This also has no effect and for some reason everytime i soft-reset my device, the unattended key has changed back to 0 again.
Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem? I dont mind that GPRS/UMTS starts automatically when no other connection is active. But I have Wi-Fi only enabled when i actually use it so i dont mind the battery life too much in that case.
Hope anyone has a solution. Thnx in advance..
me too.
Tried advanced-configuration-tool , HD Tweak, Diamond Tweak, none of these work.
Any solution?

in fact, you don't have to do the soft-reset
it takes effect immediately(at least for me)
It looks like since I changed this setting, the battery drains very quickly. This morning 8AM it was fully charged, now 2PM its on 40%, and I haven't hardly touched it...
I will restore the key value to 0 again to see if it solves the battery drain...
Yes this works also for Topaz. However you need to keep something in mind:
This setting may reset itself on soft-reset (some people on Topaz forum reported this)
This will drain battery like a "mofo". I would not suggest using it unless you really need it, like when using VoIP completely and no normal 'call' at all.
Please note that "MSN Messenger" use will also use lot of power, as it may keep the phone in unattended mode, which uses much more power than normal true "standby" (suspended) mode.
Final, for Topaz you would use TNETW... registry hack, for Rhodium you use the BCM.... one. You don't need to do both (Rhodium introduces new Wi-Fi chip compared to last 10 or so HTC phones)
Effect is immediate - however beware when connecting/disconnecting USB cable/activesync at the same time as switching back/from unattended mode, as the activesync connection bug worked around by the Topaz and Rhodium Wi-Fi drivers will temporarily disable Wi-Fi, may reset this setting, and data connections made at the exact moment this happens will use the cellular connection instead of Wi-Fi.
(I needed to disasm entire driver to figure this out for new WMWifiRouter Topaz/Rhodium compatibility patch )
working perfectly
Guys,
Off course if you apply this hack and leave WIFI on all the time the battery will be dead in no time. Whenever you know that you won't be using it, wifi should be turned off. I like this hack because in the case were I am online on MSN for example, I don't have to keep concerned about the device shutting off so that I don't loose connection. It can suspend and still have wifi connection.
However, when I stop using wifi, I turn wifi off completely from communication manager to save battery. What is the use of wifi being kept on with no need for it?
What I love about my Nokia E71 is that it automatically asks me to choose a way to connect when I access a web site or send/receive an email or try to log into MSN. I would just choose the access point and viola as easy as that. In wm, we have to turn on wifi and then do what we want to do.
I guess its a small price to pay for having such a device
Ok, this is my report. I only change the 1st key & it will stick even on soft-reset.
12AM full charge. Device in standby mode with wifi always on & live mail set to sync as item arrive. 6.45AM = Alarm triggered, battery at 80% , 25 email in inbox, 3 in junk folder. Device was set to play tone & vibrate on new email. Volume below medium. Good enough for me
Works perfect on my sprint tp2. just the first registry change needed (second isn't even there). I then mapped the left soft key in the today screen in manilla to \windows\wifisettings.exe so that it is easy to manually turn this on/off. It worked perfect for me for a couple days until I fell asleep surfing the web and the battery was dead when I awoke.
Note: I just changed it back and turned wifi settings to best performance instead. I will just have to deal with continually having to go to the service agreement page for the open network at my hospital. This is better than a dead battery.
WiFi always-on tweak now broken on TP2/WM6.5

Hi Chainfire,
Looks like this tweak setting is now reseting itself on soft-reset on the TP2 with the official WM6.5 ROM.
(Used to work for TP2/WM6.1).
Searched the Rhodium/Topaz forums for a solution - no luck.
Have you had any luck with your disassembler ?

So I only need to change this.NOTHING ELSE?
The other registries are not necessary to change from 4->1 ?
EDIT: Never mind, you should also change the other registries
But now, my phone doesnt sleep on its own, I have to force it by hitting the power button
This worked for me for a while and then it stopped. It was doing exactly what i wanted (ie...downloading my emails even during standby), then all of a sudden, it stopped and kept turning on the data connection. The registry values didn't change back to default, but it still kept undoing the edit. I thought of a [less effective] way around it still.
Since wifi disables during standby, disable standby. When my phone's not being used, the backlight turns off and the phone locks, but you can still see the contents of the screen and wifi stays on. I JUST started trying it, so I don't know what that does for the battery as yet. If anyone can gimme some advice, please do.
Same here with the stock 6.5 rom.
A solution would be really good...
Am i to think that it only remains constant on the 6.1 rom?
I had the Standby of Death SOD this is when the phone fails to come out of standby with a power button press. This issue only affects some people on some networks. I'm not sure if its a network problem or a software problem but as only a minority of people have it, I suspect its mainly a network problem there is a software solution.
The solution is to change the phone settings band option from auto 3G/2G to either 3G Only (WCDMA + UTMS 2100 in Europe) or 2G Only (GSM + AUTO) depending on your requirements.
Also read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2 where the resolution was to get a new SIM.
Obviously this only solves the problem when the crash is because of the sim and/or settings which impact the sim. To rule out a software cause its best to start with a hard reset.
had this problem once: I switched on the camera, and then left the device on the table for a long time - so it went to standby.
I could not wake it up by the power button after 20 minutes, but as an incoming call came, it was ringing with a black display, and I could answer the call with my BT headset. screen was still pure black
finally I pushed the reset button and since then everything is fine - I still feel this was connected to the camera.

Yeah if it only happened the once then that was probably the case, if you have the problem on a regular basis and you know its nothing to do with the camera (becuase you never loaded it) then you have the problem I am describing.
I have exactly the same problem has Terta.
I'm 100% sur that it's the camera that make this bug I have tried all my weekend to reproduce the bug a lot of time and it was always the camera...
Hope someone can fix this bug cause now I can't take any photo without soft-reseting my phone. Very, very, very annoying...
I messed around with the sound app SRS WOW HD for a while to get it work on TP2, with this installed, mine did exactly the same thing.
Sometimes it happened straight away (first sleep), other times it happened a day or so later.
Uninstalled, it did not happen again.
(Not the SIM or Camera for me)
Go figure!

Yes I guess there are many reasons for the Standby of Death, if you have ruled out all software causes such as the camera or installed apps then have a think about the SIM and/or the settings that impact the SIM.
Its the last thing most people will think about. It worked for me and got rid of a random SOD problem 2-3 times a week which coinceded with being in weak 3G areas (where the phone might switch bands automatically) although that never occured to me at the time.
You see I haven't installed other applications nor do I load up the camera and leave it running so I couldn't figure out what was causing it, it just happened randomly not connected with anything particular that I was doing.
i hope there is some kind of magical solution for this because i just got my Sprint TP2 today and I have this issue everytime my phone goes into standby. Pushing the power button wont bring it out but every once in a while opening the keyboard does. I have to continually reset my new phone just to use it
PS; beyond this annoyance, I love it!

Try taking out the SIM card and see if it still happens everytime the phone goes into standby...
For the past few days I have been restarting my phone thru the soft reset. I think this is a windows issue...it has happened to me even without having the camera app running, and yes I checked the task manager. Hopefully this will be fixed when windows mobile 6.5 comes out, since Im getting frustrated with this phone...I have the phone for about a month now....grrr Stand by of Death!!!

so its not just mine then? this is ridiculous
Right, i had got seriously fed up with the standby of death happending, so i decided to contact HTC Europe directly.
They went over the usual 'factory reset' and 'update' solutions before coming to the conclusion that either there is a loose connection/faulty screen or there is some confiliction between drivers of the pre-installed software.
Because all HTC phones have 2 years warrenty as standard they have asked me to send if off so they can invistigate the problem and send me a replacement.
So if anybody is in the same boat as me a suggest you contact HTC and arrange a fix/replace.
Hope this helps.

Add me to the list, seems to happen when I am charging my phone and it hits 100%
This phone reminds me of all my previous Sony Ericsson phones....very unstable OS' ... Makes me regret of getting this one and should've gotten an iPhone...but then again I'm pretty sure iPhone's have issues that apple fanboys aren't admitting. The reason that made me not get an iphone is because of ATT's ridiculous plan pricing...Its crazy!!!
if you are on sprints network, take out the sim card. This has fixed the issue for me. Used to get SOD a few times a day but opening the keyboard and then pressing the power button used to get me out of it. This was really annoying, and i read that it may be issues with the sim card. Took that out a week ago and havent had a SOD yet

Jabberoo I can verify that this was caused by the SRS WOW HD program on my touch pro 2 as well. AS SOON as I uninstalled this application, restarted, everything was fine again.
I don't know if this will help anybody but if your phone suffers from SOD and you have TMO put it in airplane mode and see if it still does it.
I did that and it never went into SOD so that lead me to believe that the radio was the culprit. before that I tried everything listed. I don't have the 3G Plan so the 3.45.25.14 (T-Mobile) radio is the only one that worked for me.
I have the same problem.. just have installed spb mobile shell with mskip ultimate. I try to unistall all
I have a question: if I choose the 3G only option (WCDMA + UTMS 2100 in Europe) and the signal strength is low there will not be an automatic switch between 3G and 2G am I right? ...and i'm offline then

Confirming this....
I had this issue for a while now...I tried hard resets, ROM flashes etc. It all works fine and was stable until I flash Sps Wow HD (I just realized this). Yesterday I flashed the latest HTC released sense ROM and right now after installing all the softwares I had the SOD again. Fortunately I saw the 2 posts and thought I will give it a try...and guess what?
I uninstalled the Srs Wow HD and phone is back to normal...no issues till now...will report later if I see any.
I am going to tmobile to get the SIM changed anyways hoping that it will fix another issue I am having. Every day I have to turn the airplane mode ON and OFF at least twice to get my data connection back. Mostly after a call and sometimes in random the phone is unable to reconnect to the data, it gives me an error that the epc.tmobile didnt respond or something like that. If any of you know how to fix this issue...plz help
I have been Experiencing this so called "SOD". HTC touch pro 2 sprint. On the 6.5.5 Build 23569 i had MAJOR sod issues. Energyrom , mighty , titanium , you name it. Ive Task 29 and reflashed them all multiple times. Still SOD was there... But i may have found a temp cure for me atleast. This is what i did....
First , i used task29 , next i reflashed the stock 6.1 rom, check for SOD... still had it... i task 29 again. Installed titanium edition , without sense. SOD was cured, phone worked fine, tryed to install sense 2.1, failed, SOD was back. Soo...
Then i task29 again, then repeated task29 a second time at the boot screen.... then i flashed Energyrom GTX themed 21907 build june 27th......Once it was flashed unplugged my USB plug and plugged it into the usb wall plug i have . Installed LUMOS, light sensor still was inactive and no response, could not brighten and still nothing... Installed G-light right after lumos without uninstalling lumos.... Still plugged into the AC wall USB plug....let it sit. Still nothing, couldnt adjust or brighten..... So i task 29 AGAIN... then flashed 21907 build GTX themed again... once flashed, unplugged it & back into wall charger... Installed lumos.... SUDDENLY!!! the sensor worked, and was accepting light AGAIN! ...
So i ran the LUMOS wizard, followed instructions and my phone was SOD FREE!! Let it sit over night, was fine....I wanted to see now if i could overwrite / flash over GTX themed with DiNiK glass cause i liked it better... so i DID NOT USE task29 this time, just reflashed over GTX themed one With DiNiK glass... same build 21907 and followed all my same steps, with wall plug, installed lumos, did the wizard,.... WALAaa.... works still like a charm. Have been using and testing it for 5 days, SOD is gone as far as i know.... ALSO in options, under setting / system / power / batt... i turned off the option to charge it when plugged into PC....Not sure if it helps or not. But Something i did is doing the trick. Seems between the backlight, and something to do with my 2.0 usb cord thats messing it up.
Seems to be cured... Still not sure exactly what fixed my phone. But between all that, IMO i believe installing lumos and glight triggered something also i think not letting it charge thru the PC, and only using a wall plug for charging has something to do with it....Either way . now its back to normal working just great... ONLY running LUMOS cab, and all the games i want. Energyrom Build 21907 DiNiK Glass Themed june 27th.... HOPE this helps!!! Have a wonderful DAY!
Hi folks, having a slight issue with my TP2. It is running the preinstalled vodafone rom for the UK. (version 1.14.161.6 (50207) WWE)
Over the last two days it has stopped automatically powering down the screen when not being used. The backlight switches off as normal, but the screen does not shut down until i press the power button. So if I forget, the screen can stay on all night, killing the battery.
Have been into the settings,on the power screen, and checked all 4 boxes are checked for the times to shut off the backlight and screen on both battery and mains power, and they are.
Any ideas? I have not installed any new software so am stumped. Any common causes of this behaviour?
Cheers
Jon
did you change it through the manila settings tab or start/settings/system/power/backlight ? the reason why i ask is because sometimes when you set settings through manila tab settings, the settings dont work. try deactivating manila, then start/settings/system/power/backlight , then reactivate manila. hope that helps. if not im stumped too.
Is manila part of touchflo? If so I don't have it enabled, I just use spb shell on top of winmo 6.1, so yes was using start/settings/power method.
However, not sure if I have hit upon the problem - I use a program called g-alarm (which is one of the best programs ever), and in it's settings there is a way to keep the screen on when the alarm is snoozed. I recently enabled this, and wonder if it might have messed up the os settings somehow.
I tried uninstalling g-alarm last night and it made no difference, but since restoring a backup, and changing the screen-on setting within g-alarm to off the phone is working normally.
I daren't re-enable the setting to test it, just in case the phone gets messed up again for good this time so this might be a total red herring, and perhaps it was just the restore that did the trick (although have restoring before at least 3 or 4 times with no joy). Will report back when I dare to mess again.
cool to here you are back to normal lol. it would have been a major hassle if you had alot of apps, accounts and whatnot to reinstall. i got really pissed at g-alarm one time when it wouldnt stop going off (phantom alarm) so i will never use it again. you might want to find the thread from where you got it and report the bug. maybe someone else has the same problem and the developer came out with a patch or upgrade for it.
Had same problem on 2 phones
I had same problem on 2 phones- Tilt2 and Kaiser (Tilt). Problem was.... Microsoft Live. When mail account set to ..As Arrived... phone doesn't go to sleep and keeps screen on permanently. Battery was empty in half of the day. After I switched to use POP or IMAP mail and stopped using Live, everything became normal and works excellent.
Here is the Answer
Maybe you have played some games and did not close it by the normal way..
Try to change the registry:
自动关屏时间
HKCU\ControlPanel\BackLight\
"BatteryTimeOut" = 10
Then
另一种方法是在HKCU\ControlPanel\Power\
Display=25 改成自己想要的值
If there is not one, create it by yourself..
Well, it still happened today, so I think that rules out the g-alarm backlight setting. However, it worked fine most of the time, so intermittent.
Papasha, I think you could be onto something there, I do use MS live. Be a shame to lose the push mail though, but that's the next thing i'll try disabling if it recurs again.
Will try that too fishman if problem comes back, the backlight key is present but the display setting is not. Easily created though.
*post Updated on 28-1-10*.
The problem did start recurring again, so I tried the suggestion to disable the hotmail pushmail (sync items as they arrive) and that has definitely sorted the problem. As a very welcome side effect the phone suffers major slow downs far less now, if at all. I still use livemail but just set it to sync every 60 mins.
