This message occurs because the phone had detected that you are not on your home network and the data roaming option in settings>wireless & networks>mobile connection is unchecked. Hence the message appears to inform you that they have disabled your data connection because you are not on your home network. It is present in all roms so its not because you've rooted and flashed a Rom.

i keep getting the "cant establish a reliablee data connection to the server" message.
i have an evo rooted and flashed so many different roms (wiping data/calwhaterver) and it still does this even if im on wifi or 4G (but not cellular data as im not with sprint anymore) what can i do to get this working
I've been getting that as well. I think sprint is having issues with their network or this last update screwed something up. not sure which.
Anybody have a solution ?

Sprint has a TOWER down! It should be fixed sometime during the week as they had to order the part. I have Boost & Sprint, but no service on Boost (from outage) Sprint data service is like sh*t right now. Call and complain, as they will give credit to your Sprint account.
Well it's actually not connected to anything , I'm using wifi or clear 4G (I had my Mac address added to clear plan) so the phone doesn't have cellular data. Now, I do have a Rom that works ok but it's an old rom where its ok but if I use like a omj or any other rom I get that even when I'm on wifi

Yesterday I upgraded my Galaxy W to CM11-20140122 as per the instructions on the developer section of this site. Everything went smoothly and I connected the phone to my home wifi and update and reinstalled all my apps. No problems. Thismorning though, I'm experiencing wifi and data over network connection issues. For some reason, although I can see the wifi networks and I'm notified that there are networks available, I cannot connect to them - even though I could previously! The same thing happens with my mobile network - the network is connected and I can make calls and send texts but I persistently get 'No service' and no data connection.
If anyone has any ideas how I fix this I'd appreciate it? Is anyone else is having the same kind of issues? I was thinking of upgrading to kernel 3.4.80 to see if that solved anything...
ok, so after three hours sat within range of the wifi, suddenly the phone has decide to connect to it (as I wrote the above post - maybe its feeling threatened! ). I wonder if this is going to be persistent behavior or wether it was a 1-off.

Interestingly, my wifi seems ok now, but I'm still not getting any packet-data connection. After a recent phonecall I got the message 'No Sim or Sim Error' (although it let me make the call). Then I look at the details under 'About Phone' and 'Status' I get the IMEI number, it lists my phone number as unknown and Mobile Network State as Disconnected. Interestingly, it doesn't seem to be connected to the right network either. I wonder if the packet thing is actually and issue with reading the sim-card?
fix
How did you install the rom ??
I think restarting the phone after switching to 2g fixes the issue
it only happens on wrong recovery options (dirty flash)
use this "clean to install a new rom"

I followed the instructions from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588495 to install the rom. I used Odin 4.43 to install ancora.ops, then factory reset and cache wipe, then flashed the rom, then reboot (basically). I don't think there was anything wrong with the flashing process, it all seemed to go smoothly...
How do I 'switch to 2g'? do you mean select my preferred network as 2g?
OK, so I flashed the kernal to 3.4.80 and everything went smoothly. Wireless has been behaving (and was before the update), but I am still getting 'No Service' on my mobile connection. I tried setting my preferred network connection to 2G and that hasn't helped. I can probably live with it if wifi is working, but it is a bit annoying... I guess I could try the 'clean install' link.
Have this problem on DarkCM rom too
I bought this phone off of a local guy on FB and factory reset it. Well now it will not connect to my mobile network or wifi when trying to set the phone up. I tried booting it into recovery and nope. . When i restyart setup it with my sim card in it it tries to connect to mobile but just keeps trying until it times out., same with WiFi. I can't make it any farther than that. The phone worked before the reset just fine , it just had all his crap still on it. My sim card and my wifi both connected to it prior to reset. I am stumped and i need this phone bad with a daughter sick with COVID 19 in Ohio( I am in AZ) i need it badly:. plz help!! thank you in advance.
If you know the exact model number of your phone, then just download the firmware and install as per this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/how-to/cross-flash-oreo-pie-firmwares-lg-g7-g7-t3915303
Hope all turns out well.....

thx for your reply. Since I cannot ACCESS ANY OF THE SETTINGS , can I still install firmware. I thought I had to enable USB DEBUGGING and unlock the bootloader before i could do any of that? I am asking because I am not completely new to this but I am far from knowledgeable either.
I can get it into download mode but no farther. it does look for the network but the mobile network signal bars have an x on them and signal bars are faded. , the WIFI network icon never shows up at al i am going to try what you suggested now. thank you for your responce
fix you suggetsted says don't work with TMOBILE.
