Hey there,
I'm planning to root my Desire.
It is Vodafone Germany Branded (vodafone scene included) and I
updated to 2.2 with the official Vodafone Update (OTA, some weeks ago)
Now I found a tutorial here with unrevoked to root every Desire with any HBOOT.
My HBOOT version is 0.93.0001 !
But i read something like "i need a goldcard to root when my desire is branded"
Is this goldcard needed to root with unrevoked because my desire is branded by vodafone?
When I'm in the Bootloader (Vol. Down + Power ) i get this information:
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.09.05.30_2
HBOOT
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
CLEAR STORAGE
SIMLOCK
My Desire has got an AMOLED Display.
What do I Have to do? Do i have to root with Goldcard+unrevoked or just with unrevoked?
After rooting i want to flash the "AuraxTSense V.7.8.1" Rom.
This won't be a problem right?
Thanks
I have a Softbank branded desire and unrevoked worked fine for me.
Same here with Dutch Vodafone image. I just did the root with Unrevoked using a Linux live CD (SLAX). It reboots a couple of times and now is successfully rooted!!
Use unrevoked , i think it goes fine with 0.93 hboot.
Search the threat that explains how to use unrevoked.
Good luck.
Moved to Q&A. Please don't post question threads in Development.
You need a gold card to use the hboot downgrade utility that will flash an official HTC WWE ROM with the older hboot 0.80..
This can then be rooted by Unrevoked, if you were still on 2.1 Eclair then the gold card wouldn't have been needed
Downgrade tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
Using UnRevoked http://rootmydroid.co.uk/guides/gen...esire-wildfire-evo-incredible-with-unrevoked/
I just rooted succesfully WITHOUT a gold card. So you don't need it, even if you accepted an official update (OTA)
Thanks to all replies
Hi
Im looking for the offical ROM that came with my desire from carphone ware house 2.1-Eclair unlocked. I would like to downgrade from 2.2.
I was looking at this link but i dont know which one to pick:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667
Can someone please help ASAP
Thanks
I am 75% sure that it is the first one in the list under GSM. I have no way to be sure though. I think that was what was in mine.
Out of curiosity, why do you want to downgrade?

If you're not rooted, or even if you are, just flash a 2.2 ruu seeing as its been rolled out to a majority of Desires.
Sent from my HTC Desire
if you flashed the ota then you must downgrade your hboot version before you can flash any of the 2.1 ruu's, they will just fail otherwise

I am 75% sure it is the first one, however, it doesn't matter if it is the same one that was on the phone in the first place, it can be any of the official updates HTC have released.
You are free to install any released software from HTC (as long as it is not rooted) and your warranty will be intact.
Thank you for your fast reply StuMcBill
Now that i have downloaded that ROM. Is there a easy easy way by PC to unroot it back?
All help is thanked for.

Does your phone turn on? If so, you just boot your phone to Android, plug it to your computer, and run the downloaded file.
If you can't get to Android, try going into fastboot.
I am NOT 100% sure that it is that rom that originally came on the device, but I dont think it should matter, as long as it is not rooted.
In what way is your phone not working?
The speaker stopped working.
Its that easy to unroot it? Yes the phone does turn on
I saw this post. but it doesn't look easy.

I assumed it was for warranty reasons, but seeing as they've pushed out 2.2 to CPW Desires then it'd be odd if he went in with it still on 2.1

Turn off your phone, hold Volume Down or Back (Keep holding) and press power (keep holding) and you should get to either the HBOOT or fastboot screen, it should say HBOOT xxxxxx at the top.
Ok this is what it says:
Bravo PVT1 Ship S-ON
HBOOT-80-0000
Microp-031d
Touch panel - SYNT010
Padio-5.11.05.14
Mar 29 2010
Do i need a gold card? what is that?

Ok, well I think you might need the second file if you are on 0.80. Mine had 0.75 out of the box.
If your desire was unbranded from carphone warehouse you don't need a gold card.

Moved to Q&A as not development.
If you're on HBOOT 0.80 then you'll need to flash the 1.21.405.2 RUU, that'll get you back to stock 2.1...then you'll get the prompts for the 2.2 OTA so ignore them or allow them, you can always go back under warranty on a stock ROM
Hi,
Just got my first ever htc phone the htc desire locked on 3 (UK)
I was looking around and I am preparing to root the phone using this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084
It says however that your device must be hboot 0.93 or lower. I checked and it says my phone is 0.93.0001 is it still okay to use this guide to root it?
Also will rooting my phone unlock it or must the phone be unlocked to root it?
Thanks in advanced and sorry if this is a noob question.
Unrevoked 3 will work.
I have the exact same Hboot version, and I got a custom rom on it.(rooted, s-off, alpharev Hboot)
Hi,
Quick question hoping you can help with.
I have S-OFF (Previously Rooted) and recently installed the latest Gingerbread 2.50 WWE RUU (with a Goldcard).
Does the S-OFF mean I can install a customer ROM without having Root?
Is it possible to change the CID? I have a Vodafone UK CID so don't get OTA. (OK, its a second question! Couldn't resist!).
And Finally (really this is the final one!), I can't find instructions to revert my phone to original state, i.e. re-branded to Vodafone UK with S-ON for warranty. Can you point me in the right direction, please?
Thanks in advance...
Kiz
With s-off and goldcard already in hand, you may downgrade it to stock 2.36.405.8 to gingerbreak or simply 1.32.405.6 and then flash any custom rom that comes across your mind. Your cid can be changed it the Oneclick Radio Tool.
To return to stock vodafone branded rom, just read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920876&highlight=vodafone+original+img
If I'm not mistaken, S-On can be applied just as normal DHD should. Please do make reference to the stickies in Android Dev section.

Hi, apologies for creating another thread for something that is probably very simple, but the information I’ve found can be conflicting sometimes
I've a rooted HTC Desire with a (very old) LeeDroid ROM installed.
Phone is going, so I want to revert back to the office UK T-Mobile ROM.
Current configuration:
Bravo PVT1 S-ON
HBOOT - 0.80.0000
Radio - 5.09.05.30_2
Clockwork Recovery v 2.5.0.7
I've never messed about with S-OFF or anything?
Is it simply a case of getting the correct RUU (which I think I have, RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.21.110.4_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_127570_signed) and running it?
I realise that this is probably a stupid question, but any assistance would be appreciated?
Thanks
Put the 2.2 one on, not the 2.1
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...00.32U_5.10.05.17_2_release_143754_signed.exe
Or better yet put the unbranded 2.3.3 from htcdev.com.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think you need to install a rom with sense, plug USB in HTC Sync mode and then run the RUU.
Then the official RUU should take care of everything (boot, radio).
But again, never done myself.
Thanks guys, installing the official RUU from the website worked perfectly
Thanks for the advice
