[Q] root explorer

quick question....i tried to install a couple of different dialers thru root explorer...they both installed twice and the permissions were changed...but when i got back to the home screen the dialer icon was no longer there...reboot didnt help...tried to reinstall the original dialer.apk and still the icon didnt come back....is there anything im doing wrong??? thanks in advance

What dialer are you trying to install?

The apk name has to be correct or it wont work plus there is two apks
The dialertabactivity.apk and phone.apk

im very patient...sorry...its just i had to reflash the acs rom 3x after trying to install all black dialer...everytime i tried to install it, the dialer icon just disappers...i copied the dialertabactivity to system/apps thru root explorer...i didnt touch the phone.apk tho...i didnt think i had to since the file i downloaded only contained 1 apk..
mystery...if i wanted to install the dialer from your theme, will i ba able to do that without flashing the whole theme? im still running syndicate 1.0..

in order to use my dialer on 1.0 you need phone.apk and dialertabactivity.apk from my theme from 1.5.1 of my theme

[Q] Will ViperPad App Work On NON-Viperroms?...

Hey XDA'ers,
Quick question, just wondering if anyone would know... I'm running Viperrom Synergy, and I wanna upgrade to EG22. But I LOVE my viper pad. It's an app in my app drawer... Think I can move the app to SD or computer hard drive and then move it back to the phone after upgrading to gingerbread?
Just curious to see if anyone's done it before...

Just download Swipepad from the market. Its the identical same thing. And you'll receive updates now. That's wut I did when I lost my precious viperpad.
If u require viperpad for sum reason still just extract it from system/apps in viperrom and paste it into system/apps on ur new rom and restart.

I've been using Viperpad on EG22 and EH06 without any problems. Just backup the apk and install on new ROM

same here. viperrom made me completely reliant on some "pad". def an overlooked app...really really useful and reliable.
here's the market link for swipe pad (in case ur crippled) and the system/app viperpad (extracted from viperrom)::

**something you can try if you DON'T want these to be installed as system/apps - after you DO place them in the system/app folder, go into titanium pro, long press both apps, and try to convert to regular user apps (that show up in data/app folder). This will probablyl work, but i havent tested. Worked with gmail, though.**
dayammm looking at viperrom again brings back some awesome memories. my first rom! it really was the coolest themed rom i've seen so far, too. really holds up lol.

Viperpad works on everything I've tried it on. Droid 2 Global, Captivate, Epic, Galaxy Tab 7"... I'm sure it will work on damn near any Android phone.

What does vipercomm do? If I can get it working on eh06 its gonna be ported....

Its like that little Android guy on Cyanogen where the team could post messages about upcoming releases. They would post when new ViperROM or new Genocide kernel was coming.

Oh that's cool.... I wonder if id catch fire if I/someone modded it to work as a general upcoming release app for all epic roms/kernels/themes.... would anyone like to see that if the devs participated?

[APP] Ice Cream Sandwich Dialer [Themed Contacts & Phone]

Well, I tried to come as close as possible to the ICS dialer and this is what I came up with.
Themed contacts.apk and phone.apk
I tested it on stock deodexed no-CIQ ROM, but it should work on any deodexed ROM, but make a backup first!
Flash in recovery.

When i flash and reboot and look in my app drawer there is no application for "contacts" and no application for "phone"

Yea my bad, not too familiar w/ ADW, prefer LP and GO...were you able to resolve this? Is anyone else having this issues? This dialer looks sick, its the closest one to the real thing that I've seen but haven't tried it yet and just wanna make sure its working, so any feedback would be appreciated, TIA!...And just curious, what ROM are you on AvatarOfFrost?

I'm on stock deodexed-noCIQ ROM. It doesn't affect the framework so it should work on any ROM, but who knows....

Yea unfortunately it doesn't work w/ Calk's ROM, it just removes both apps , tried both flashing it and manually pushing it via Root Explorer....

I tried pushing these with rootexplorer. After pushing, they don't show up in the app drawer and I got FC with the contact storage and messaging after that. I tried pushing my backed up phone app and contact app and they both were still missing. Only after pushing the other ICS contact apk was I able to get both my phone and contacts back. Something is wrong with both of your APKs. I'm running stock deodexed no-ciq

I used an inverted sms w/ auto split. Unfortunately I can't remember who developed it, but it worked perfectly on ICS. Flash away, if worse comes to worst just reflash the ROM.

Are you running an AOSP rom, or sense?
Edit: either way, nandroid, flash and see what happens.

i know there is somewhere but idk where. if anything just download handcent sms from the market and get the darkness skin theme from the market also. its all black and has grey text bubbles. and everything is customizeable thats what i use and the pop up text for quick reply is really useful if i find what your looking for tho ill pm it to you

Well the sense messaging app is completely different then the AOSP messaging app. As I said, if you truly wanna find out if it works just nandroid and flash.
