Today I sent my first Private Message. When I checked in my Sent Messages , it was empty. So I resent it, and again, it doesnt show up in my Sent Messages.
Now at the time the forum was very slow,so I thought that maybe that was the problem, so I resent again....twice!!
Now I do not know if the intended recipient did in fact receive the message(s)
Any idea why they are not showing up in my Sent Messages folder?
You have to enable your account to save sent messages. Go into User CP, Settings and Options, Edit Options. Scroll to the bottom and check:
Save a copy of sent messages in my Sent Items folder by default
Boom! There you go
Indeed that is exactly the OP's problem. I just checked and the OPs account is set NOT to save copies to his sent folder. Follow Svetius' instructions.

Hi im trying to find a way of send a message to all my contacts, without typing each name individually into the sender box. Is there anyone that can help?
Thanks in Advance,
James
I came across this issue myself over christmas when I wanted to send multiple sms to certain contacts.
Sadly I couldnt figure out how to do it with the stock messaging app so I installed GO SMS and that done the trick.
While this is more than likely a missing feature I cant believe that google didnt include it as standard.
You just select a contact then tap back on and select another one?? Same as always
Or am I missing something? This is same as most phones

the way you describe is correct but can take ages if you want to add about 20+ contacts.
Google should of added a tickbox method or "select all" option at least
Yeah i wanted a bit of a quicker method. When trying to send contacts my new number this becomes too time consuming, ill ad the other app. Hope Android adds this feature on the next update.
Get groupy... it allows you to select multiple contacts and send a group message to them using the stock messaging app. It even allows you to select whole groups and send group messages to them...

By default, sent messages are not stored in the sentbox. You can enable this if you want.
Use forumrunner or tapatalk hahahahahaha
FYI: I have sent 2 messages now, that have been group txt messages from an iphone (don't know if that matters) but when I uncheck "group message" and type my message and press send, it sends to the group.
anyone else noticing this?
it does matter that it was sent from an iPhone. think of it like a bulk email sent to you, if you click reply it replies to all that iPhone originally sent to. the easiest way is to just start a new thread, so go to your Messaging app, click new, and write that person.

so, are you saying that the "group message" check box in my txt msg application will only work for txt messages sent from an android phone (and maybe windows phone?)
or perhaps that checkbox is just not working as intended?

group message and multimedia messages are two different things. group message sends multiple sms to multiple people, and when you respond checking the box it will reply to that same group of people in the sms. when you send an mms (iphones way of handling group texts) its all contacts included in one mms (email). mms are emails, thats why you have things like attachments. it's also why if you email [email protected] youll be able to email your phone directly as an mms text.
so you replied all to all: 1 of your contacts, that 1 contact being a group mms sent from that iphone.
yes it will be different getting a message from a blackberry or windows or android phone. you can actually turn a group sms into an mms group by attaching a pic to it or anything else to it.
dont forget if they dont have data they cant see the mms tho.

Hello guys!
I'm having a little problem, I don't seem to be able to send any PM, when I press send it says message sent but when I go to Sent Items there is none. I've been able to receive and send before but now I can't.
Thanks!

Are you sure that the message isn't sending?
There is a setting in your Control Panel that can enable or disable a copy of sent messages being put into the Sent Messages folder, so you should probably check that.

Ok..........I'm just gonna disappear.......I just made a fool of myself. I didn't see that setting in the CP. :good:
Close or delete the thread please!
I sent someone a PM earlier and got a response. I responded to that, but there's no evidence of my response as part of the thread in either my Inbox or Sent mailbox. That didn't seem familiar from prior experience, though it had been awhile since I'd PM'd here. So I resent with the same result. So far, no response from the recipient, so since I don't see evidence of my outgoing message, I don't know if it went where it was directed or not. Should I be seeing evidence that my message actually went out? Shouldn't I see my message in the PM area somewhere?

go to the following link (be sure your logged in to XDA first)...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/profile.php?do=editoptions
... scroll down to the last option under the "Private Messaging" category and select the option "Save a copy of sent messages in my Sent Items folder by default" then scroll down and select "Save Changes".
Also, when you are creating a new private message, and you scroll down, you'll see the "Additional Options" area that has some options like saving a copy of your sent messages. These are only the options for that specific message.
Unless you change the default to save Sent messages as explained above, you'll need to select to save them for each message.
I hope that I had explained this okay via text...
Good Luck!

Thanks for that. Clearly stated. I just set it so that there's a permanent save to the Send folder. I'd done Quick Reply earlier, where the save option isn't present, so it's no wonder I missed it there.
