Need some help, please?
I tried to search this forum, but the search function isn't working.
I'm trying to install a 3rd party app. I've tried copying the app to my SD card and installing from the SD card. That doesn't work. I've tried the SDK route to load through HTC Sync. That didn't work because it couldn't see my HTC.
I really want to install tether on my device and can't figure out. Can someone please help?
What is the app your trying to install? Are you certain that it works on the DHD?
Maybe you need to go to Settings -> Applications and check "Unknown sources" (Allow installation of non-Market applications)?
You probably should describe your problem a little more. "Doesn't work" isn't really helpful...
What exactly happens when you try to install the app. How do you try to do it?

Hi there, after trying to install one app today my phone froze on "installing" and i had to remove battery to start again. After that i'm unable to install any app by any means. I tried to install different apps with htc sync, directly from the phone, with adb and from market but none of this ways worked. It always gives me "Application not installed" or Failure when trying with adb . Pls help
once the memory is full on the phone it will not install any other apps until you remove another. It doesnt take much to fill it up either. Try uninstalling something and then you will be able to add another app after that
this problem should be sorted with the 2.2 update
Have you run out of Space on your phone?
Go to Settings,
Phone and SD and what is the Available space left
If you have plenty i would guess you have Corrupted the OS.
A fill wipe might be a good idea.....
Just wondering if it is SD card related... have you tried unmounting the SD card, retry installing the app, then re-mounting the SD card?
I'm not that stupid .... i didn't run out of space, i'm rooted with 2.2 and apps2sd. Mounting- unmounting, restarting... nothing helps. I thought there might be a way to fix it, apart from re-flashing (i hope at least that will fix it ). I'll wait a couple of days if someone suggest something else otherwise i'll have to wipe or flash again .

ive made a newbie mistake and moved ALL the apps i could to sd card resulting in the fact that i can download apps from market or internet but notINSTALL. ahhhh it says installing forever!!!! when i open manage applications the option to move to phone is grey and i cant press it or uninstall or change in any way. you guys probably know a lot more about it than me and i would realllllly appreciate any help you can give me. everything else works correctly except the option all the time to choose sense or launcher and the different application viewer 3d.
and also it keeps poppin up all proccesses on the right hand side of the screen (see image) i cant uninstall or install apps. what do i do??? thanks again, eiran
+1 for me too. I can download but not instal. Out of 32 apps downloaded Ive only been able to install, Adobe 10.1, App Brain, Titanium, and E!.

New to posting, new to rooting...responders beware! =)
I rooted my phone the other day with unrevoked3 but the files i have on my pc I didn't use. None of them are zip files like forums/youtube videos were showing people installing.
Unrevoked installed successfully, I saw the reload screen (boot screen?)...but I had no zip file on my SD card to install. When I search my apps the Superuser Permissions app is there and does notify me when I try to open certain apps, etc.
Haven't been able to install wifi tethering so it makes me wonder what I'm missing exacxtly. I have the app, Bluetooth ready...need a kernel?
Any help would be appreciated! Keep it in laymans terms please

Got a call from a friend with a GT-N5110 Note 8.0 that I'm hoping y'all can help with.
Friend bought the latest Humble Bundle and tried to install Badland and ColorSheep using the HumbleBundle app. And then ran into two mistakes
Mistake 1 was that she didn't see the warning about turning on the "Allow install from 3rd party sources" first.
Mistake 2 was that she then got a prompt about turning this on for each game install, but didn't notice that there was a second tick box that said "For this install only" and didn't untick that.
Both installs failed with "App not installed" message. She's tried switching on that 3rd party sources and rebooting, but nothing gets those apps in. Weird thing is that ALL the other HB games install fine (after the reboot).
I've tried clearing out the HB's apps cache, sideloading the apk, but nothing works - I still get that "App not installed" message with no explanation WHY it's not been installed.
Is there some security cache somewhere that's not allowing these two apps to install or, failing that, is there some log I can check to see what the problem is with these two apps? I've tried logcat viewers but they don't give any info on software installs, and I've tried the APK's for those two games on my 2013 model Note 10.1 and they work fine.
I could try HB support, but I figure that this is probably one of those "deep in the engine room" kind of problems, so a shout out to the experts on XDA seemed more appropriate.
Please unmount your SD card and attempt the reinstall.
On newer versions of Android, some SD card permissions weirdness started and unmounting on these newer versions seems to fix the install issue on all of my devices.
Hey guys. It looks like on my s 21 timobile version I am unable to download any files in Firefox and Chrome. Is there any workaround it? My Sammy also blocked any incoming wiles when I truied direct wifi transfer - it just didn't allow files to be downloaded to the phone. Surprisingly I was able to download files in stock browser but that is not my preferred browser. Please advise if you know any solutions or workarounds for downloading files in other browsers. Not rooted and prefer not to root. Thank you.

Try rebooting the phone.
Try clearing cache memory of the app.
Try reinstalling the app. In case of chrome then uninstall updates and update it from playstore.
Try Advanced download manager from playstore.
If none of the above works, then you definitely did something to your phone that caused this bizarre issue and I'd like you to explain exactly what you did.

It's not a joke. That's why I am asking. Clean phone out of the box and unable to do wifi direct transfer(it just stays at zero). Same happens when I try downloading anything from the browser(message is download failed).
