It has no Live Wallpaper support because it's still alpha release.
And this feature has lower priority than other stuff that have to be fixed.

It won't have live wallpaper anytime soon. They are not worth fixing because they drain battery crazy fast and are darn slow on our devices. I think they were disabled on purpose in FroYo.

hi, can you tell us, what is working and what no in this build?
I refer about the bluetooth, camera, wifi...
Thanks

Hi, dedalum!
On Blackstone BT does not work, wifi and data works, camera.... I'll test it! (I think it wont work) --Tested, but the news are bad!
The old kernels does not work with Gingerbread, so camera does not work, yet!
I tried two different kernels, for the camera testing and for the anti-audio stuttering MOD, in the both cases it cant reach the homescreen.

As nasko_spasko mentioned, camera seems out of reach for the moment...
I also asked in VirusCrazy's camera testing thread, and he also gives Gingerbread "low chance", something for the future...
But I should add that there is (probably more than one) kernel out here that fixes audio stuttering, I'm using Gingerbread with a modified 1253 kernel from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11169582&postcount=76
Audio and Wifi great, battery life ~ 20-30 hours (using periodic data for ClockSynch and some weather sync, but nothing else)
Cheers,
Robbert

The audio is the most important issue for me.
I have GBX0A running with 1255 kernel. It's the only one that doesn't give me audio-stuttering since Gingerbread won't boot with the 1498 kernel.
The latest kernels 1260/1262 both work but give audio-stutter.
Only thing i'd like is a new rootfs with keymapping for Blackstone like in the rootfs from 2011-01-31.

very nice build. i have one question though... why is the clock lazy?
it is like the android minute is a second short. is there a fix for this?

Am i the only one having trouble with the keyboard not showing up properly? it's only about 20px high and it's impossible to see there are different keys but if you drag your finger around the popup with the different characters show up so it works but seem to be scaled incorrectly...
I tried long pressing on a text field to switch keyboard and the chineese keyboard works just fine but that doesn't really help me...

Keyboard is a known issue.
Recommendation: get Thumb keyboard from Market. It's free and has different layouts and looks.
Fix for alignment squares: use old ts-calibration file from another build, or use the one attached below. Just remove the extension and put it in the same folder as haret and startup.

Use build in Japan IME. It has Latin characters on the numeric keyboard (like in non touchscreen phones). Should be enough to log into market and download gingerbread keyboard.

Or just put the apk inside the AndroidApps folder (it's inside the andboot one). It will auto-install at boot.
I like the app "Gingerbread keyboard" though. I use it in froyo too.

Here's what iv been working on, for about a week, its Donut 1.6 AOSP, this rom includes only 2 extra apps aside from the google ones, Since this is based on AOSP i tried to leave it as clean as possible, except of course for the theme i made for it.
This ROM Should pretty much as Stable as Android can get on our Devices, it is also very fast since its based on Donut(no fillrate). If you find any bugs report them on this thread, i will try as best i can to fix it. And yes i know the Date in the status bar is still Default color(black) i will fix it as soon as i find the exact place to change it.

well for starters the overall speed of donut is just awesome, there other thing is that there is no fillrate on donut so 3dapps,games and 2d games also don't have that slowness and stutter you get in eclair/froyo(they both lack fillrate or should i say a fixed fillrate?) phh would know how to explain fillrate better than me, but anyways basically it stops the screen from filling extra pixels, Do too our screen being vga. This slows down 3dapps considerably, if you want to see this just run lets say Raging Thuder 2 you will notice how fast it is in donut, and how it stutters and seems like a jpg slideshow on elcair/froyo

Ah, makes sense. I didn't know that stuff about the fillrate either, good info. If only phh could dump all his knowledge into a wiki on a daily basis...
On first impression - very fast, wow! Also, 3g internet works out of the box. Can't seem to get GPS workin tho. Seems like it may be disabled completely, if I only have the GPS option enabled under Security & Location, Google Maps tells me that I need to enable a My Location source in system settings. Tried also allowing the option to let Google use my location to help their services, didn't make a difference. I never see the GPS icon in the notification bar either.
Still amazed at how fast this build is. Very nice! We'll see how battery life is next. It does seem to be going into deep sleep correctly (I get the 'breathe' LEDs...)

Well the phone is still chuggin. Only issues I've ran into so far are the GPS problems I stated earlier, and ADW keeps getting a force close error every hour or two.
I like LauncherPro better, but that's just personal preference. ADW seems alright, but the random crashes are a little obnoxious. Not that LauncherPro is perfect either

I actually prefer stock over anything else. Any program cooked in seems to be more of a hassle, and limits choice the user has.
On another front, I have almost 4hr uptime with 26% battery reported left. That's... probably about what I've gotten with the other ones. With a lot of standby, I could probably stretch it to 7-9 hrs. Not bad, but with heavy usage it depletes pretty quickly... So no marked improvement over other builds, but certainly not any worse either

Yeeees, right. I shifted the end-letters for fun ...
I've been trying to work out how the SDK image would work on actual handsets, and the only answer I come to is "crashariffic". If you set up an AVD to run at 480x800, then it defaults to a regular Android skin, but Launcher crashes. However, it works if you set the LCD density to 100 or less - but then it would be unusable on all but the largest of handsets - the Desire HD or Dell Streak, for example.
If I had another handset.. er.. handy, I'd try flashing my SGS with it just to see.

Not a good idea.
But maybe some parts could be useful for optimization or theming.
I wanted to try out the new clock font for the lockscreen.
No luck so far. On Froyo, or Gingerbread it's Clockopia.ttf.
On Honeycomb it's split across two files named AndroidClock.ttf and AndroidClock_Highlight.ttf.
One for vertical and one for horizontal bars. I can only get one to display.
Any ideas on this?
gallery doesn't work too

Nothing will work
The apps were built for a higher API Level, so it wont install without modifications.
You modify the APKs and hope that they dont use any new APIs.

Gingerbread XDAndroid

Does anyone know if this works on HTC Touch HD and if so, how?
thanks
Already tried Gingerbread. It looks nice and works quite smooth but it's not yet ready for daily use. Other than issues posted on stinebd's blog I've also couldn't get default keyboard to work, had problems with wifi (but could be user error) and neocore wouldn't run properly.
Remember to backup your SD card before using this because it needs to be tested on clean install.
BTW. I really like the UI overhaul Google did in 2.3 =)

Nope, i didn't. It is not yet optimized, but its quite fast, even not optimized
(in earlier development state). HW3D does not work! I think by Default
there is not a daily use SD-Android (it keeps the SD powered on all the time the android is 'online' even when in idle),
so it consume too much power for daily use. That's my point.

Hi, I'll give you a simple HOWTO :
1. Download this.
2. Extract the contents of the archive to the root of your FRESH FAT32
formatted microSD, excepting the system.ext2
(if it's SDHC(larger than 2-4GB), microSD shouldn't be class 6 and higher)
3. Download this.
4. Extract the system.ext2 to the root of the microSD
5. Run HaRET.exe and have fun!!
Edit: if the andro does not boot successfully, try to use the latest modules and rootfs
if you don't know how to do it, just--\/
If you have any specific problems, PM me!

[Q] PARANOIDANDROID....is it possible to port?

i just wonder is it possible to someone make this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1717079
Nope.
The reason: You need to input the highest DPI which will give you tablet mode, which is gotten by lowering the DPI.
You cannot lower our phone's DPI to that point.
And I really thing tablet apps on a 3.2" screen would just not work properly.
Succesfully got it booting (However i haven't followed that guide)
I'm testing it now.. I will share it if I don't find lots of bugs

Everything seems to work fine, except some dpi changes in framework-res (they cause bootloop, probably something is set wrong in pad.prop), SU works but sometimes keeps asking for su permissions.
I've attached a screenshot for you. It's not that bad, but with a larger screen would be a lot better
Edit: In the next days I will try to fix few things, then I will release it.. Maybe it doesn't have much sense to have tablet UI on a ldpi 3.2 inch screen, but that's why I ported it

Everything seems to work fine, except some dpi changes in framework-res (they cause bootloop, probably something is set wrong in pad.prop), SU works but sometimes keeps asking for su permissions.
I've attached a screenshot for you. It's not that bad, but with a larger screen would be a lot better

Swyped from my HTC Wildfire (Buzz)

Motorola touchless control APK

Here's a link to check it out. Not sure if it works. If anybody wants to test out the APK, please report back with your results.
Thanks but the app is only installable on the ULTRA, MAXX, Mini, and Moto X.
it installs without problems, but doesn't appear in appdrawer, and playstore says it's incompatible with the One
I have installed the .apk, but can't start it, as it isn't present as an actual app. I think, we also need the settings app directly from the Moto X/Droid Series, in order to be able to set up the actual touchless cotrols app.
Application installed just fine on my Telus Galaxy S3 with CM10.2. Added the activities shortcut through Nova Launcher. Tried to launch each activity but it just crashed.
Rebooted and continuous errors.
There's something unique in Motorola's framework similar to TouchWiz/Sense etc. I know this is the HTC One forums, but I felt like trying it out
lol i like how the OP post an apk wants people to test but it too scared to test it himself
wont work...but
why not try something that really works (touchless gesture that is)

Maybe we can try by changing the build.prop of the phone. We did the same with Facebook Home and it seemed to work. Anyone can try this out?

are you following me from phone to phone over the years? :silly:
i've got the air gestures half working (screen on, scroll through browser etc) gonna try and get the rest working later on...
as for motorola touchless control apk it will never work without the motorola chip inside
Touchless controls is going to require a Motorola Phone. It requires a specific low-core processor that allows the phone to be constantly listening, if we kept the mic in our phones on 24/7 without Motorola's specific hardware, our battery would die in 1 hour.

That would be the other way round.
I've tried to scroll browser with every gesture. Zilch.

No luck. I give up. Had a couple of responses earlier, like opening browser when it was already opened and requesting root.
Have you guys tryd using a logcat to see what it keeps looking for before it crashes just saying then we could have a better understanding.

Talking of Tom Cruise, he's like Sense 5. Remember the sense on our desire? Sense 5 looks just like that. I wonder how mimi Rogers looks like standing next to him today.

I was at work and couldn't download it and play with it. I have since tried it (it failed for me too), and have done some more digging. Apparently, the Moto X has a core in it's processor made to do just this. We do not have that core. Looks like this is a lost cause...
Stop saying core! It's a DSP, noting 'core' about that. .
But yes, this is useless without that chip. There is a app on play store that does the same thing and you can even set the wake phrase ('Jarvis!'). Haven't tried it so I cannot comment on battery, but I'm sure it uses quite a bit.

Nexus 5
Is this going to be able to work with the nexus 5 because is has the same snapdragon 800 or will it still struggle? So disappointed the nexus 5 doesn't feature some of the moto x impressive features like touchless control and amazing battery. Otherwise it is a great phone!

Didn't anybody tell you? We're obliged to mess around with our phones, edit build.props, you know, stuff that could render our devices as, well.....paperweights really, just so the op can laugh at our expense.
How about OP, you install on your device, if it doesn't work....bad times, if it does work, post a solution. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!
