[Bootanimation] Honeycomb Xoom boot animation - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

HiJust thought i would post this up for everyone to see.. I take no credit.. But it does work on our phones..
All credit to tntdroid from android central forums..
Also Big thanks to irieme for fixing it to work at 480x800, it looks perfect now thx!
bootanimation.zip for adding to system/media or data/local
and CWM flashable zip which will add it to system/media for you...
Make sure you have moved/deleted any other custom boot animation you had on your phone before..
If you want to go back to stock then just delete/move the bootanimation.zip file from the folder you put it in and you will be back at stock.
Simples!

how about posting a video or GIF how it looks ?

Like that but on our phones. ;-)
Also if you don't like it you can always delete the bootanimation.zip and return to samsung default boot screen.

no copy to system/media or data/local with root explorer..
if you want to flash it with cwm you need to make the update.zip using one you already have.. and replace the file that it was previously used for with the bootanimation.zip in either the system/media folder or data/local.
Make sense?

Works like a charm. Thank you very much-

He may have put his own one in data/local if you see a bootanimation.zip in there move it to your SD card incase you want to use it again.
Then the honey one in system/media should work hopefully.

In /data/local there's a "tmp" named folder and inside it there's a .lck file.
In /system/media there's also the shutdown animation in a folder, but it shouldn't affect this boot animation I think, or does it?

It's so wonderful !!!

Now it works.. it just had something to do with me moving the bootanimation.zip to /system/media in the first place.
Maybe because it didn't replace the excisting file but it renamed itself.
Then I deleted the old bootanimation and renamed the new one.
Now that I deleted all the zip's and then moved the animation, it works perfectly, thanks!

So I was screwing around trying to push a boot animation, deleted the bootanimation.zip in system/media and now all I have is the android boot ani.
Anyone know where I can find the bootanimation.zip from system/media, so I can at least flash boot animations again?
Thanks
It'll be in the install zip for whichever ROM you're currently using. Same place /system/media/.

Putting the file in that location should do the trick IF you are running a kernel that has boot animations enabled. Samsung uses some .qmg format for their boot animations but thankfully the wonderful devs here have enabled the use of bootanimation.zip to work.
@dddsj, you might not have the right kind of kernel.
@rsegura77, I thought Synergy had this enabled so I don't know what to tell you. Was there and existing bootanimation.zip in that folder and if so did you rename it or move it to another lcoation prior to copying the new zip there?

You need a kernel that supports bootanimation.zip. Using root explorer, go to system/media and move old bootanimation.zip to sd card. Place new file in system/media and reboot. That's it! Just make sure that any boot animation you try is renamed to bootanimation.zip or it won't work

Not sure if Bullet supports it but there is no harm in trying. Don't replace the existing .qmg files. Just copy bootanimation.zip to that directory. If bullet supports it then you'll have a new animation and if not then you'll see the one you currently have. It shouldn't hurt anything to put the zip in there even if your kernel doesn't support it.
All I did was delete the old bootanimation.zip and pasted the new file in the same place but the only boot, animation I see is the default that comes with zombie rom I did notice I have the following files bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.any

I honestly don't understand why Android "kills" the Apple? I could understand Android to WM, but iOS and Android are derived from unix, which technically makes them "cousin" OS's.

Disabling Start Up and Shut Down Animations

..
This is how i replaced the tmobile start up and shutdown animations with international version's
Using root explorer or es file manger, navigate to system/media and rename bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg to something else. Then download one of the custom roms from dev section like freegs3 and unzip it. Navigate to same folder in the unzip and copy bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg to your phone.
Repeat the same for system/media/video/shutdown/shutdown.qmg
Thank me if i helped!

He wants to remove them tho, just rename the .qmg files to have .bak at the end. This will stop them from being used and will still be there to rename if you decide you want them back.

I did mean boot hang where after the Samsung logo it just turns to black screen and that's it. No bootloops. It happened to me on my sprint s3 trying to modify build.prop. I haven't rooted my tmo s3 yet though so i don't have a way of backing up yet.

Use Root Explorer and enable R/W to edit system files.
/system/media/audio/ui
poweron.ogg
poweroff.ogg
Just rename those two files by adding a .bak to the end of each one. When the system searches for it at boot or shut down it won't find them since you renamed them. You'll now have a quiet boot and shut down.
If you are paranoid about the system just not finding the file then you can always use the attached file here which I created that's basically a very short silence for the system to play. Also has the backups of the original sounds too. Make sure to pay attention to the permissions and set them (long pressing each file and choosing permissions After you put them into their designated system folder) exactly as the included picture in the zip shows you. That's it.

That's exactly what was missing thanks Mike. I don't mind the animation so much the sound is more of what I mind, being very loud in case I forget to turn the phone in mute.
Edit: I just went and changed the extensions to .bak and there are 3 filed total.

Changing bootanimation?

So I may be completely blind but I've been looking around and can't seem to find a thread that works for changing bootanimation on the htc one. I've tried replacing bootanimation and also bootanimation and downanimation but I never have permissions to do so even with root access. I'm currently on EclipticOne 4.4. I appreciate any help or direction to the proper thread, thanks!

Not sure if this is what your looking for, but I use this Matrix themed one sometimes. You can just flash the zip in recovery. The one you download depends on how you bootanimation file is named, but the instructions explain that.

For the Verizon One the file name will actually be either hTC_bootup_one.zip or bootanimation.zip depending on the ROM (one of those two will be in that location). EclipticOne 4.4 uses the filename bootanimation.zip.
Edit: If the ROM you're using still has the stock Verizon boot animation running, vzw_bootup would be in there.

Try using Root Browser. You should be able to with that.
And just to be safe, just add .bak to the current boot animation.zip. That way you can simply revert back in case the one you choose doesn't work.
