How to backup apps in sd card? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all

My question is, if i wanna flash a new rom how can i retain those apps and its state (like lvl 2 in a certain game)...is there a way to backup and restore?

Titanium backup in the Market, there's a free and a paid version.

Free version backs it up just as the paid one.
The main difference in the paid version I noticed is when restoring, you don't have to click anything when batch restoring.

With free version you have to backup and restore every App manual.
If you have 100+ Apps, it will take a long time....

I would also recommend MyBackup Pro, i use the latest version (v2.3.4) and it works very well. It allows you to backup/restore not only Apps, but Data too (i.e. Contacts, Calendar, Alarms, Cal Log, Bookmarks, System Settings, SMS/MMS, Music Playlist, Dictionary, and Android Home [fixed in most recent version]) either to an online source or to the SD Card. You get a 30-day Trial with MyBackup (not Pro version).

But doesn't titanium backup only work with rooted phones?

Not only does Titanium backup need you to have root but it needs a working install of busybox as well.
I use Spritebackup, it backs up pretty much everything

Titanium backup?
Probably the most useful program you will see mentioned all over these forums is "Titanium Backup". It is the best. It will back up all of your apps and the data associated with them. It will also back up your system data, which can be useful if you are restoring to a new device with the same ROM, but can break things (obviously) if you're switching from one ROM to a different one.
The free version of TB will allow you to restore your apps one at a time, and the paid version (recommended) has a batch mode, where you can restore everything in one go.
Of course TB requires a rooted device. If you are not rooted, you could use the backup feature of a program like Astro File Manager, but it is limited. It cannot back up the data for the apps (your Angry Birds high scores will be lost! ), and certain apps are "locked" and cannot be backed up unless you're rooted.
Thanks for the help! I already have the paid version of titanium backup. Just Jane to figure it out now! Lol

Look for ic_backup and ic_restore here on XDA. These are flashable zips from recovery. Sorry, cannot upload them atm.

Many thanks!!!
After a little bit of googling I found the ic_backup and ic_restore:

http://e-tel.eu/post/5831858062/backup-apps-wipe-flash-rom-restore-apps
It will be very easy to install a new ROM now
The paid version of Titanium allows batch restore. It will also restore to previous app location (int or sd) if that box is checked.

It is somehow helpfull, but still:
It works for all user installed apps flawless.
BUT i cannot complete it for system apps! For none of them! It doesnt give me an error or so, it (the progress bar) just freezes when trying to backup sys apps....
My phone is of course rooted...

1) In my opinion yes, I change it from Titanium Backup
2) MyBackup Root support Apps + data
And about Super Backup - SMS and Logs are stored in XML file - that you can menage it from PC. Contats are in VCF format and can be simple use in other devices.

I dont backup sms etc so dont need that app.
I earlier used titanium backup but its too slow and at times unresponsive.
Then i tried app backup and restore. Its fast but it doesnot back up ( apps + data )
Now gonna try my backup root.
Btw did u exactly understood what i meant by app + data ?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda app-developers app
I think yes - Apps and data don't backup in one file. You can restore only App, only data or App+data
Go backup is the best one. And its free!!
Apps+data, calls, wifi, msgs, call logs, all in one.
If u get the paid version u can have wallpaper, settings and online backup too.
E.g if i restore xda app, it wont ask to login again and go directly to favourites.. i want that kind of app.
Titanium backup can do that but as i already mentioned its a bitslow.
"App backup and restore" only backs up app. I.e like downloading an app...
Does Go backup restores app+data or only app ?

Spoiler.
You try it.
I have tried many(believe me) apps an thats the one I settled on!
Ok thanks !! Gonna try it for sure then
