Why epic threads so anuul?

It has come to my attention of the selfless, careless, callous, irritated,nazis,trolling trolls in this neck of the woods. Why everyone bicker, nag, insult and ride off to the sunset in high horses? If anyone asks a question in the general section, he gets chewed up and spat out in a loogie. Then trolled and insulted in how much of a idiot he/she/it is. If someone says a question about what rom to use, he gets banned for not searching with the broken search button in which almost 99.999% of the time comes out a no results. What's with you people? Is mah screaming to get out the basement?

I dont know bro but im getting sick of it the only reason i still stick around here is for the developers and a few cool people which im one of them
U just have to deal with 70% people *****ing and whining which to me is just stupid, i like ptfdmedic said in the other thread its just a phone.. all phones have issues and xda developers here develop and fix as many as possible
quite frankly im amazed, we have amazing roms,themes mods , just awesome.

Honestly, it's not that bad. It USED to be, but I haven't noticed it as much. Nothing can be done; you'll just have to live with it, unfortunately.

Well, I usually avoid the Q&A section lol, so I don't really see the rude comments people are making. And, to make a point a point with the OP, I'm literally 14 (yeah, I know. What's a 14 year old doing on a site like this and hacking?), but my point is, I know better than to be rude toward others for asking dumb questions. Sure some are absurd, but really? Almost everyone who is new to this site might not understand some things, and asking questions is usually how people feel is the best way to get help. I'm not saying that they shouldn't do a LITTLE research before they ask questions, but it happens.

Hah, before I pressed the link I knew it was that.
Well, being a teenager, I can say that our generation sucks . It's just a thing with a lot of kids that feel it is necessary to lower another's self-esteem to, you know, make themselves feel better. Or...they're just trolling. That's the internet, though. Kids are kids, obnoxious as ever. And I admit, I watched an interview of her with ABC talking about all the hate she's getting, and I respect her for being so calm about it. Even if she is bad, at least she tried her best, and in the end, she's the one who's making all the money.

Who knows why, but this isn't the first forum to degenerate this way. Usually it takes a lot of careful moderating to get it back in line. Heavy moderating tends to kill the golden goose.

Complaining about the trolls here makes you no better than them (well, depends how much you're complaining). I'm sure we can do something about it, but an approach so blunt like in the OP might be worded incorrectly, even though it's 100% true.

Wow David that song was pretty bad. But not the girl. Acer I have to say for 14 you seem to have a pretty good head on your shoulders at 14. Keep it up and don't pay any attention to the negative things on this website.

Why all the drama lately?

It just seems to be getting worse and worse. It's not a competition here to see who gets the most downloads or posts in a thread...
You have dev's fighting, mods banning people for infractions that are minor compared to some of the stuff going on.

because the community is huge and the rom selection us even bigger and heads tend to swell easily.

I really don't think the mods are strict enough on this forum, one example being the cyanogenmod nightly thread, out of the thousands of posts there maybe 20% are about the actual rom. On other cases i've seen people jump on new devs calling them fake because they sounded like a dev that was once banned from this forum. I really don't get it, **** I could care less if someone was banned awhile back if they are developing new and exciting things for this phone who am I to judge? It's the devs and the mods they create that make this phone incredible, not the name.

I agree 100% with you. Everyone needs a little spankin' once in awhile but to be fully banned should take something very serious. Especially for the productive people.
I know that's probably not exactly what you were thinking but that's my own take on it.

Windows 7 ...a step backwards?

Just got my wm7 device... wow, if I wanted an I-phone, or an android, I would have bought one... Yes I have had both and neither one was HALF the phone that my last windows 6.5 was!!!!

Microsoft... totally missed the mark! This phone has infinitely more ability out of the box than ANY Android or I-phone ever released! PERIOD! and then what do they do? cover all that ability with a "app" overlay and limit EVERYTHING.... So here we go again. Hack time...
I wanted a windows device that I can use... customize any way I want, change to meet my needs, expand into something so much more than a pretty "OH looky here!"
Just my thoughts.

It's a bit of a mixed bag imho. The core OS itself is a huge leap forward over WM6.x and I greatly prefer it to iOS and Android as well. The fact that it's so locked down is a bit of a pain, I'd love the old WM style customisability/hackability back, and maybe we'll get it at some point, but tbh I find myself not really missing it as much as expected. So far it does everything I need.

"Windows 7" is a completely different product, and "Windows Mobile 7" does not exist.

Are posts like this really still taking place? I don't understand exactly what you need to "hack" about the UI... I mean, if you want a phone that crashes, is unstable, a headache to use, and useless 90% of the time, then you should probably go back to your WM device... The reason we used to mod the hell out of our older devices was not necessarily because we WANTED to, it was because we HAD to... Why did we all go to the newest versions of Sense? Because nobody was developing apps for our Windows Mobile to cover most of those features... I have to disrespectfully disagree with this stupid post

#samsung-epic-touch: now under new management

Okay guys, after the ridiculous debacle today, those of us who frequent the IRC channels decided that it was time for a change.
For most of the day, that change was moving to a new channel. However, after some talking a few of us actually got cnz(RoadRAGEN) to listen to reason. He's turned over control of the room to an unbiased bot and gave a number of us operator passwords. To top it off, he's agreed to stay off the op list unless absolutely necessary (he won't be raging out anymore, he has his own private channel for that now). The rest of us can sign into the bot and get ops so we can keep peace and order if needed. Otherwise, the only people who get automatic ops are the bots and no one else.
Okay, first the one and only new rule. No more posting logs on xda. the moderators are probably sick of it by now and it accomplishes nothing besides starting fights. if you do post logs and we catch you, you'll get banned until you take it down. To make it worse, we don't stop cnz from doing it himself. It's counterproductive and stupid.
Lastly, cnz(RoadRAGEN) said he will dial it down inside the channel and around here. He had a talk with the moderators today and we had a talk with him in the channel. XDA didn't ban him and neither will we. It was talked about for a minute...but he banned me first...it was a fiasco. BUT, it's fixed now.
Now before you get all apprehensive, remember that despite cnz being a complete douchebag who often forgets what "crossed the line" means, he's still one of our most talented developers and has contributed a lot to this young community. Every rom up in here either directly uses his original updater script, uses a heavily modded version or pieces of it. Yes, sometimes he's incredibly insensitive and no one in their right minds would defend his personality or his actions (especially today), but he understands what happened here today and knows that doing it again is stupid.
It's all about the Android so you can come out from under your beds, the boogieman isn't also the doorman anymore.
If you're still angry about the incident, it's understandable. But remember, like xda, irc is a community and in no way do the actions today represent the community as a whole. It was as a community that we discussed the problem and it was a community that we dealt with it. So don't think this decision was made lightly.
If you don't agree, please keep the flaming to yourself. We don't need another out of control thread about IRC around here.

I would love to learn how to dev and step up but have been avoiding irc due to this situation.

I seem to have missed all that, so I guess I'm the ignorant party at the moment. I really don't think the changes made or this thread should be held responsible for the unwieldy comments of others, though. I've been nothing but civil in all this

People have their opinions. That's not illegal yet, so I'm not offended. However, if my name is eventually going to be Mudd, then I'll probably end up ceasing my attempts to help out and go back to my little corner to make roms again

Hey guys just fyi, I'm not associated with the channel anymore. After nearly a dozen PMs in IRC and almost another dozen on here about how I'm a hate monger and a jerk off, I've decided that it's not worth it and I've had enough.
To all of you who PMed me with negative things, you should be ashamed of yourselves.
To those of you who appreciated the efforts, sorry I couldn't do more.
Being ostracized because I refuse to bend to Mob Rule just feels wrong to me, but that's what is happening. Apparently I was being offensive by treating everyone with equal respect without discrimination and not being an anti-cnz hate monger like everyone else.
It sucks, I liked that irc channel, but there's capable people running it still. I won't be going back. I'm tired of being nearly constantly flamed for trying to be fair and helpful.

While I disagree with the person calling you names, which is totally uncalled for, there was no need for your "English" comment as well.
English may not be the persons primary language, but in an international forum such as this, you'll see grammar not being the best for some people.

Hahaha, I think the one about cloud computing is priceless....seeing how everyone is trying their best to catch up with Google's cloud offerings, even Apple knows that's where the user pull is at.

There is no denying that Google has incredible vision.

I remember google Androids early days, defending the concept and making iPhone users look/feel stupid. Ha ha.
I say Google Android because google didn't always have rights to Android. Without Google, Android would be nothing. I knew there was a reason I signed up for gmail beta back in the day. Haha

I never used Android before 2.0, but I remember when my cousin showed me his G1 and was explaining how awesome it was when there were almost no apps for it yet.
I was on an Omnia at the time, and was extremely jealous...as I tapped at my screen with a damn stylus.
