I know this has been discussed before but I'd like to hear from anyone running the latest.
In previous releases these features, Three-Way calling and Call Waiting, worked but were lacking some functionality.
For example:
With three-way calling you can add a call to an in-process call establishing the three-way, but you cannot hang up on a single party. You must end the call disconnect both lines.
Something similar plagued call waiting.
It essentially boils down to once the calling feature is enabled there is no “Flash” button. On other devices this is accomplished with the swap button (see fascinate or EVO running Froyo) or using the hardware key for phone (green button if available).

I'm working with a Tilt2 running the stock euro HTC 6.5 rom
and I have an odd delay. once a call comes in and I either use
the "slide to answer" feature or if i just press the call answer button
there is a long...sometimes 10 second delay between my action and
the call actually connecting.
During this time i often miss calls and ive asked those who are calling me
what they hear and they say my phone goes silent for 10 seconds before i
answer. any ideas?
Someone else found this link, not me -- and I haven't tried it, but I have experienced similar (3 secs though and not often).
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=458469&postcount=1
After doing this it does seem to pick up the calls a lot faster but now I'm getting a slew of various data connection errors. SOTI wont connect, my weather tab will not connect.
Thanks for the assist I'm going to try and find a happy balance between the two reg settings
Update: I was wrong initially about the reg edit fixing things. I had my wife call immediately after the edit and it seemed to fix it when I noticed the connection issues through various programs.
Well during work today I answered about 7 calls. The delay affected all of the and on all but 1 the call actually disconnected before it allowed me to speak. so i will be reversing the red edit to combat the connection issues.
So clarify a few questions I Got regarding this:
When the phone rings and I press the answer button or "slide to answer" the ringing does stop and the icon in the task bar shows a call connected. but for me and my caller we hear dead silence for 10 seconds until they either hang up or the call connections. Any ideas friends?
I'm having the same issue on my US AT&T Tilt 2. It is driving me crazy, the regedit did not fix anything for me either. Did you figure you this out at all?
Are you guys running stock or a custom ROM? I have had this issue in seven ROMS. In my case, it seems that my phone has to have the ATT Dialer to avoid this. Tried Energy Photon and Leo,Josh Koss, TPS, and Shadowline. All had this problem. I'm now on Fusion 6.0 with the ATT Dialer. Not one issue. Day before I flashed this one, I missed 19 calls at work because I couldn't get the slider to register. Tried TPC's latest last night(he uses the HTC Dialer), missed calls. Flashed ATT Stock no problem. Fusion is the only other ROM I found with an ATT Dialer.
It seems there is a conflict in the device when connecting.
Some things to try:
- remove the custom dialer (just use the WM6 dialer, but this will loose video calls)
- check if there is some call-recording software that kicks in
- does this happen when the device is off or also when it was already on?
I'm Using HTC's stock rom instead of the ATT rom. since I'm America I really would not be apposed to loosing video call from the dialer since Its not supported on my network but I'm really not sure how to change the dialer back to AT&Ts ...is this something that would have to be cooked into the rom because I cant stand AT&T's rom.
Flash a ROM that uses the AT&T dialer: problem solved.
Your options are: Stock AT&T, At0mAng, Arrupenthal, Twopumpchump roms.
So how do we go about getting a cab file of the AT&T dialer, video share and PTT packages that each individual user can apply as needed? Is this even possible and would it require uninstalling whatever dialer the chefs cooked in? I think it would be impractical to ask the chefs to make two versions of their ROMs (one for at&t tilt2 users and one for everyone else) as I have attempted to cook my own ROM and know how difficult it can be.
Thanks,
Stephen
hi
sorry. bad post
I have a US T-Mob G2 and sipdroid installed on it. Using VoIPfone which is in the UK. I have a speedtest app installed which shows 5 mbps download speed 3 mbps upload. I posted this message to another forum where it was moved involuntarily to the Android Q&A but I am pretty sure it isnt an Android problem. I am using 2.3.4 which is auto-updated by T-Mobile. I have been CID&SIM unlocking and flashing Wizards, Hermeses, Blue Angels, Wings for over five years but never thought to do anything to this phone and wonder if that may be the problem now, as T-Mobile has their own VoIP service to prevent you from sidestepping their plan-minutes. Curiously there have been 142 views of my question with no suggestions whatsoever. Again, I am pretty sure it isnt an Android problem.
People report that they can hear me clear as a bell on Sipdroid but I can hear almost nothing. I hear a half second of incoming sound followed by a second or two of silence, then another half second of sound, repeating about 10 times till all incoming sound stops completely.
VoIP provider (Voipfone) says yes, some other users OF THEIRS have reported this problem and this is an inherent problem with Android and Android users cant use VoIP. They allude to some mysterious latency problem (which is identifiable on line, - except that users say it affects OUTGOING sound, not incoming so): I say baloney: There is something wrong with their server. Or can T-Mob recognise that I am trying to use VoIP and I suppose there is a remote chance they are blocking something to prevent me using any VoIP service other than their own (which uses their minutes!!). Cant imagine what they could do to stop me but i can sure imagine why they would want to try! The symptoms do look suspiciously like blocking?
Has anyone else noticed this problem with Sipdroid or any other VoIP app on a G2 or (as I have to think more likely) with Voipfone? Voipfone have been quite negative about trying Acrobits etc.
After tons and tons of problems using sip viop. I ended up using gvoice plus groove ip. Works perfect and in latest versions they have tons of fixes for no voice and such. Dosent use minutes and can be used over 3g and 4g. Hope this helps.

weird results when phone connected to computer
Since i posted, I discovered that Sipdroid works perfectly when connected to a computer with a hard wire! When unplugged, it continues to work fine. You can even walk around the flat and the connection continues to work fine! As soon as I try to MAKE a call, the problems re-emerge.
I posted these results on the Sipdroid forum and the moderators dont seem to have let this problem be public (yet?)
(Dont now think it is the phone or the carrier)
I agree with you. It is not a problem of Android. I would suggest you to go for a trial service with another VOIP service provider and see the difference. I am sure you will not face this issue. I am using VOIP service on my Android from the The Real PBX. And actually it is working fine with me. It may be the issue of the SIP client they are providing with their service as well.
VIOP problems
I have always used voip in conjunction with a home asterisk server, PBXes, Sipgate and Google Voice over wifi. I have not used T-mobile's service, so I can offer little help, there, regarding circumventing any of their blocks.
The problems you're describing, one way audio, could be related to STUN, NAT or the use of an incompatible codec. Usually, codec. I do not use STUN. The most compatible codec would be ulaw, or alaw in Europe. Sipdroid is not the friendliest client, I rather use Android's (gingerbread or better) built-in or CSipSimple. CSipSimple is the best out there for easy setup. I has numerous host profiles built right in the setup wizard.
Just use Groove IP with your google voice best $4 spent ever...international calling over wifi what what!!!
I have been using this provider successfully for five years

Thanks guys the problem must be with Sipdroid: I see their forum is replete with questions and NO answers for months on end. I will try to see whether the other apps integrate different codecs or different ways of using STUN?
The curious thing is that the provider semi-officially recognises Sipdroid on their site which makes it a bit surprising that they cant isolate the problem in my case.
I haven't seen this mentioned but has anybody been able to use a BT headset to make, receive, and control calls? I can't. I get "this feature isn't supported on the connected phone" from my Blueant Q2. I know this was an issue with the Sensation and tried installing the voicedialer.apk but the phone won't allow it to be installed. I installed Vlingo but it crashes the phone and I have to do a reset to get it back. Thoughts? Experiences?
Update. We're apparently screwed. There's no native voice dialer included in ICS. I found one that installs but it loses its connection with the headset as soon as it starts. The folks on the Vivid forum are having the same issue. I tried the apps they discussed but they didn't work either. So I guess we wait for HTC to do something.

Yes... ish
I posted the same question a few days ago, but I got no reply, so I bought the phone anyway and tried. Vlingo sort of works with my jawbone earpiece. What I do not like at all is the fact that it does not confirm the command before dialling, or at least I did not figure out how to set it up properly, with the result of dialing the wrong contact in case of a misunderstanding.
I am really missing the simplicity of the blackberry voice dialler, amongst other things (mostly due, I guess, to my being a newbie with android). It was a no-brainer, whilst all the solutions I have seen for android are slightly more cumbersome.
Thanks to the other thread you linked I think I am going to try cyberon voice commander. I could save a couple of dollars/euros buying their voice dialler, but as far as I can see it needs training to attach voice tags to contacts. I don't like the idea of spending time to do that.
This seems like such a basic feature these days, why the hell hasn't it got it?!!!
this is very disappointing news. all the reviews i looked at mentioned voice dialing as a feature. and i just ordered a blueant q2. just tried using voice dial on my phone menu. awful.
i found a retail site online that says the blueant q2 is not compatible with the htc one x and identified several other bluetooth items (including blueant) that are. i decided to try the jawbone era and have it on order. not as many desirable (to me) features as the q2, but if it works, it will be a step up from nothing.
online site is htcpediadotcom. i don't know how reliable it is; first time i've looked at it.
I only just noticed yesterday that the phone would not send the bluetooth connection to the head unit in my car, even though it was connected to it.
I had to use the phones loudspeaker....
All of the Android phones in the past 2 years have worked fine!
I was having issues getting the split call/video send button to appear for some of my advanced calling contacts. I noticed the ones I had issues with were missing a 1 in front of the area code and added it. After that they worked.
Anyone else seeing the same?

Haven't seen that. What I *did* see, much to my consternation, was that during a phone call while away from a wifi pop, the device told me that I could not access my browser's data connection. That shouldn't happen with advanced calling activated.

I have a buddy that enabled it and I could not do video call till the next day even though he could select video to call me. I do not have a 1 in front of his number but it's working fine now.
This seems very strange. My wife has a LG G3 that I just updated to lollipop so we could do HD calls. She has the video button in her contact card (i think I had to place a call to get to get it there). Two of my co-workers have iPhone 6's and I helped them add the feature. Test calls were placed days ago to them, neither have the video button, and one has a 1 in their number the other does not. I thought I saw on a Verizon list that iPhones only do video calling using FaceTime though, so it may be by design?
Turned on advanced calling on my dad's droid turbo but there is no notification that the contact is capable. After the call is connected I see the HD indication and can add video if I want.

You're correct- iPhone's don't support Video Advanced Calling, only HD Voice. Also, having a 1 in front of the 10 digit number makes no difference.

Remove the contact, power cycle the device, add the contact, power cycle, wait a few minutes, and then place a call and re-test.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Edge from Verizon. Everything worked fine on the phone until one day a problem just occurred and even with the help of Verizon’s tech support, I haven’t been able to resolve it. The problem is whenever I receive an incoming call, the caller cannot hear a tone when I press anyone of my dial pad keys. This makes it impossible to proceed through an automated system that requires you to press certain numbers in order to advance. NOTE … I only experience this problem on incoming calls! If I initiate the phone call, the party I’ve called can hear a tone whenever I press a key on my dial pad. That means I can place a call to an automatic system and proceed through it by pressing the keys necessary to reach my desired destination.
Verizon’s tech support suggested that I reset my phone to its new, out of the box condition. I did that and it didn’t fix the problem. I tried starting the phone in safe mode, thus taking any 3rd party apps out of the equation and that didn’t help. I tried changing the DTMF setting from normal to long and that made no difference. Finally Verizon sent me out a new phone and that didn’t fix the problem. And last but not least, Verizon gave me a new sim card, which still didn’t fix the problem. Now I have all new hardware and the same old problem! Verizon keeps bumping me up the tech assist ladder, but so far no one has come up with a solution.
If anyone has any ideas, thoughts or suggestions that would help to solve this mystery, I would be eternally grateful!
Thanks in advance!
Good luck! I'm on my 4th replacement and still have all of the same problems. Now they are sending the phone to Samsung to tear apart and checking my cell area for related problems. Both mine and my wife's note 4s are plagued by the same problems. I guess the next step is trying a different manufacturer.

I had his same issue on Verizons iphone 6 and iphone 6 plus, could never get through automated menus.
Now that I think of it, I have had this issues on my G4 and G3 and pretty much any device on Verizon.
