[Q] Phone locks then screen turns on immediately after - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Running DK28 with Bonsai4All 2.0.
For awhile my phone was fine but just recently it's started acting up. When I hit the lock button my screen turns off and the phone locks, but then the screen immdiately turns back on and goes to the lock screen instead of just staying off, so I have to hit the lock button again to turn the screen off.
Any solutions? Thanks.

Sorry I don't have a solution, just thought you'd feel a little better knowing I have this annoying problem as well. Mine also decides to turn on sometimes if I touch the camera button while I'm removing it from my holster. I'm using Simply AOSP DK28.

I also have the same problem

I had this same problem on my stock Eclair, so not sure what causes it.

screen freezes when pulling it out of pocket.

hi guys,
got a bit of a problem.
i keep my phone with no case on in my pocket with the screen facing in. when it rings and i pull it out, the screen is not responsive and i have to use the power button to turn it off and on to get the screen to respond by which time ive missed the call. right about now, im missing the hardware button which i was never fond of on the hd2.
it does the same thing when the alarm goes off. wish i could prevent the screen from coming on when in my pocket. the screen is being activated by contact with my thigh through the fabric of my pants pocket and that is somehow messing up the screen and causing the freeze.
phone doesnt feel right in my pocket with the screen facing out.
anybody else experiencing this?
phone is stock.
regards,
asmd.
Same thing for me on occasion. Think your SOL because I haven't found a way around it

Screen off flashing problems

I'm currently running Koodo 4.0.4 V3 by ptmr3 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849748
So I'm using the screen off app to turn off the screen for my phone. I've noticed that sometimes after the screen blanks out, it flashes the lock screen on and then off very quickly and then stays off. Sometimes the app will turn it off fine but when I go to turn it on with the power button, the screen will flash the lock screen on and off quickly which means I have to press the power button a second time to turn it on again.
I didn't notice this problem when I was on stock. Is this a problem with the app or the ROM I'm using?
Thanks.

[Q] Screen flashes after Samsung logo, screen black, vibrates every 2 seconds

My phone just started acting up really weird. Whenever I would graze the power button (not even when I push it in all the way) the screen would lock and sometimes immediately turn back on. Some times the power menu would come up. Other times it would just restart and go into this weird loop where the screen would be black, the phone vibrates, and the LED just flashes. Does anyone know what I should do about this? I was using CM9, but this happened pretty randomly so I don't think its a software issue.

Try flashing a different ROM. There may a bug or something on that ROM that could be doing that.

You just got a malfunction power button. It happens a lot. You need to call samsung/tmobile for warranty service.

[Q] Power button issue

So my Epic 4G Touch's power button started acting weird on Friday.
Sometimes it works, but other times it doesn't. I'm on Jellyverse v3 and in 3minit, I put the lock screen shortcut on the status bar. Sometimes when the power button doesn't work, I press the lock screen shortcut. But after that, my phone restarts itself. If I don't touch the power button and just click the lock screen shortcut, then it turns off like usual.
I already did a factory reset and flashed it back to a stock ROM. The problem persisted.
I then re-formatted and clean flashed back to Jellyverse and the problem persists so I'm suspecting it as a hardware issue.
Is there anything I can do other then send it for repair? I don't quite have the $50 or so that Sprint charges.
Gravity screen off.

Yes, like patrao said, gravity screen. My phone is having the same issue and I used that and it works great

Bug found with flip case

If you open the case and plug it in at the same time it will freeze your phone and the screen won't turn on. I'm guessing the only way to fix it is to restart the phone.
I tried it and it nothing happened. Though sometimes my screen dont turn on when i flip it open, i just press the power on button and it comes on orbaometimes it just takes a bit longer to come on, specially if it partially locked.

I can't reproduce the freeze. My screen always turns on.
