Hi all. I have Koni Elite and want Swype. I had originally registered for Swype beta but when I load it if crashes. Anyone know how to get swype on this rom??? Thanks!!
Like you get it on any other rom...
let me know if I screwed this up, had to work it out of my Elite.
Mod Edit: Do not post swype installers, as they are considered warez on xda
oh now i get what you are saying. to install the swype beta on a rom that already has swype installed first use root explorer (or adb) to delete swype.apk in /system/app/. then delete swypelibcore.so from /system/lib/. reboot and install the beta from the installer. hope this helps.
Thank you alaman, that worked for me. I have been a long time lurker in this forum and have appreicated all the help everyone has given.
Thanks! I used Super Manager. I had the lib file even though I didn't have the apk. Now beta downloaded and works.
dupe post. sorry.

was looking for any help on how to get swype to work on the phone... what version of the software does work and exactly how did you get it to work. Any help would be appreciated, as this program is the dealbreaker on a rom, to me. Tried SlideIT and I don't like it much. Thank you for your help, folks.
I've been using shapewriter instead, its not as nice looking as swype but better than slideit.
you could always sign up for the beta for swype, then just install it and be happy... that sounds like a good idea to me

The beta is closed for new sign ups.
Have you tried to install it in /system/apps?
You might have to go into recovery to mount /system then while in recovery try and adb install
Dont know if it will work, but that is what I would try.
Good luck

I have found a few hvga Swypes on here that work with most roms and you install it regular-no need for adb.Just search for hvga Swype 1.56(latest version,i think) and you good to go.
Works on most roms but not all,im currently on htcclay's MR1V4 Remix and it doesnt work.Worked on Slideteam,CM and few more, current MR1V4 has Swype included.

Thanks, lviv73...I appreciate it.
I'm debating upgrading to the newest nightly of cyanogenmod however I really do not want to let go of my stock swype. I'm not interested in using an alternate app like shapewriter either....
Has anyone successfully loaded the stock apk onto their CM build for this phone? If so, please explain how!
Thanks!

Well, if you need a froyo rom with Swype you should download Eugene's Froyo (newbuild.zip) and flash it via ROM Manager. Otherwise, no, there's no way to salvage it.
thanks for the quick reply, i'm going to look into it.
Try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=749273 . Some of the people here don't like Swype and are totally against installing it on other ROMs but it is doable.

Thanks for the link, i'm in the process of going through it.
I don't see why anyone would not want swype at least as an option on a custom rom, especially since the stock version runs beautifully. Swype is really smooth and accurate, so much so that I wouldn't mind not having a hardware keyboard!
swype is an acquired taste lol some like it some dont but once you use it and get used to it its the best at what it does! sign up for the beta and they should send you a swype installer pretty quickly only real problem is that it isnt themed like the one that comes with the slide
go to 4shared and search for swype there should be a themed version that doesnt get old
and on another note if you sign up and register on swype then search for a swype installer and use that you should be able to use swype that way since it will see you are registered to use it and what not!
Try this:

Check out the new Froyo builds with Swype.
Are there any roms with swype preinstalled?
EDIT: Nevermind i guess not as the makers wouldn't be very happy.

I have swype, brilliant addition to my desire. I couldn't live without it now.
yeah, would be nice if it could be incorporated into a ROM
I try to add Swype on MDC r8 and always show an FC on first boot, but Swype works well and without any problem.
If you want to include it on any ROM open the ROM.zip that you want and add your Swype.apk on /data/app/, close the ROM.zip and sign it, done.
Hello,

ask this in the thread of the rom itself. is more likely to have a answer there
I can not ask there, because i need at least 10 posts to write something in a development forum.
thanks for reply
That's already 2 ;-)

Well if you won't go to the dev, the dev goes to you. I have removed Kies and all Kies related stuff because it was bogging down on the memory.
Sorry =\
hey Kezra, another user, that can't post in DEV forum
is there some way you could give us Swype apk? you removed this keyboard in newest ROM, which is bad for me since I have to use Swype beta and it's not as accurate as normal swype.
You can find all those apps you are asking for here:

I completely forgot about this thread. Thanks a lot mate
Hi, I'm on stock DXKJ5 and want to try this custom ROM out. I know that it's based on EUR ROM. Can I flash the custom ROM right away or should I first flash the stock EUR ROM?
Hi, just another note on this Rom:
I had trouble with my titanium backup, as it tried to restore swipe settings ave as mentioned before swipe is not included. Our ifs not a bug, but be aware that this might cause trouble.

Swype, TW calculator and TW calendar
Hi, I downloaded the .apks of the swype, twcalculator and twcalendar. Of course it wouldn't just install like other normal apps, so I tried to move it directly into the system/app folder.
I just won't move (or copy)! Says that some error ocurred and that it's impossible to move.
The phone has Kezra V3 rom and V6 super charger. It's rooted alright.
I miss swype... and MOST OF ALL, I miss XT9! It seems it just went away with this Version 3. Downloaded Go Keyboard but didn't really liked. The stock gingerbread keyboard with swype and full functioning XT9 is far better.
I'm considering "dowgrading" it to V2 again, I found a working download link somewhere in the V3 thread for it.
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance

unzip the rom, place all the apps that you want in "system", "app", rezip the rom and flash it again without wipping data in cwm, that should solve your problem

Thanks a lot mate. I'm going to give it a try.
I tried to do this after the rom was flashed, with scrip manager. Just copy the app directly into the /system/app folder, however it didn't work.
I'll post my experiences back.
By the way, do you have any insight on the XT9 issue? It was a must have for touchscreen keyboards... I could live without swype, but XT9 was suppose to work with samsung keyboard... I'm confused with that.

Dude, thanks a lot! I tried this ICS keyboard and liked it. It's not as intelligent as the stock gingerbread keyboard used to be but it goes quite close.
I tested the SlideIT app and LOVED IT. Replaced everything else, and now KP V3 works fine for me
I can't thank xda dev enought!
Got the Swype beta, but looking for a non beta apk that will not expire.
I've been using Swype beta for about two years and have never encountered an expiration...
really my i9000 had the oem swype, on swype site it states it will expire in 6 months. Plus i don't like the swype connect and it auto updating, Would like my keyboard to have no access to the internet.
