My friend had service with TMobile a while ago. He no longer has service with them anymore, but still has his B&W TMobile Sidekick. I know its possible to unlock phones, but realize it might be different in this case because its not exactly a regular phone. He uses it for the organizer, im not sure if he'd want to go online with it or not. Would it be possible for him to sign up with AT&T prepaid since he wouldn't use it as much, take the sim card out of the phone that it comes with with the prepaid service and use it in the sidekick? I assume the sidekick would have to be unlocked first (is that even possible) so it can be used across networks?
If its possible what would i need to do it?
Just wondering if its possible, tryin to help a friend out,
Thanks,
~J
Send the phone to me, I will unlock it for you!
Hi! this is my first time posting on this forum.
I want to unlock my SGS2 Epic 4G Touch from Sprint but I can't seem to be able to do it.
I was able to root it and have Superuser access, I downloaded Chainfire's app from the Android Market and ran it, but it says the system couldn't find the unlock code.... don't really know how to move forward from there...
Also, this is the Gingerbread EL29... and doesn't have an IMEI but rather a MEID which makes it harder for me to find an app to unlock it...
Any help please?????

My friend "unlocked" please expound further on what you are trying to do. We dont have to unlock our phones. Now are you trying to get your MSL code?
Edit: Also everything you need to know about this phone is either in the wiki or a sticky on the development page.
I have it locked for Sprint use only, but I wanna be able to use another carrier... I'm not sure abotu what I need... I already rooted the phone, I know I need a code to be able to unlock it... but I'm unable to get it. for some reason

"Unlocking" is only for GSM phones with a "SIM". Since you have almost certainly opened the backplate of the device, did you see a SIM slot?
No?
Oh, yeah, that's because the Epic Touch is a CDMA device.
You cannot "unlock" the GSM telephony, if there is not one to begin with.
You should be looking for APN settings for your carrier and a way to input them.
And, do some research, because it doesn't seem that you are at a required level of knowledge, of the system you are messing with, to even be attempting it.

CDMA carrier
type of radios in the phone. One cannot be used on another.
Maybe tell us who the provider is you're hoping to switch to and someone else can maybe look it up.
If your provider is GSM and you bought a CDMA phone, you're seriously out of luck.

CDMA my friend quite simply it wont work. there is no sim card and nothing to unlock. trade it for the AT&T SGII or Tmobile branded SGII

There is no such thing as an unlock code for a CDMA device, unfortunately for you.
In the US, if you find a CDMA carrier that is willing to activate a CDMA phone that wasn't originally designed for their network, you would have to give them the phone's ESN number (found behind your battery). They would add it to their network, which would allow them to activate your phone on their network. They may also require your IMEI, which is the same thing as the MEID. You can get this from the same sticker, or dial *#06# on your keypad.
You will have to contact the carrier you intend to use the phone on and see if this is possible. I know somebody who did this when their work sent them to China for two years.

My Galaxy SPH-D710 was purchased in Michigan through Boost. I just moved to Maine where there is no boost, and U.S. Cellular unkindly rules. This project is on my level but I ran into an issue I hope to fix tonight after 5 days of code manipulation. Ok, so here's the story.
Obviously my phone will not connect to a carrier, and no service tower to make things harrier XD. So amongst the edits and flashing, I lost my MSL. Come to find out, here is why: U.S. Cellular accepted my device on their network. It was simple, just said it was an sch-r760, they put in my ESN/MEID Dex and viola, accepted. Ok, here's the kicker (not as nice of a kicker as is in my trunk if you catch my drift)... APNs are locked as you well know. The question is, where the crap did my MSL go? Boost was going to give it to me but since I've been out of service for months and I flashed with no tower near, ALLLLLL DATA ASSOCIATES WITH MY ACCT is just gone. Phone records, MSL, even device specs.
My question... when I get to a tower, I will have to activate back on Boost to get their system to issue me an MSL to then be able to add U.S. Cellular APN settings after receiving my unlock code... OR since its also ATT, and Boost and U.S. Cellular both use ATT towers to roam around here... Will I receive my U.S. Cel access? I have already Paid my U.S. Cell activation and monthly charges. I couldn't have paid if my phone wasnt accepted. Even US Cellular said this. I'm betting I get on Boost network, then have to diag MSL add APN since I cannot edit and stick without MSL. Oi... What I do know, is I will prevail, I never fail! When I do, I will write an impenetrable Tutorial and circulate it to U.S. Cellulars demise

i don't think its possible to unlock cdma, other than flashing to page plus, but the reason why gsm is so easy to unlock is because you insert a different network card into ur 3G sim card slot, and u type in your network code when it asks,,,,,cdma(phones that don't take sim cards) are flashed to that carrier firmware wised which means you would go through alot just to reflash to another carrier.try flash to pageplus, that will cost money, but dirt cheap as low as $7
Just bought one second hand, but its on virgin mobile network. Any way to get it to Metropcs network?
Ive been doing a lot of searching, but havent found much in my quest. Ill continue to search, but if anyone has any pointers feel free to contribute.
http://www.metropcs.com/metro/houdinisoft/index.jsp
Not sure if our phone is supported, i couldnt find it on the list. But theres the link.
Yeah i thought of that already, apparently Metro PCS doesnt do that anymore, the phone is on the list, but i believe they had a lawsuit from Virgin mobile or something along the lines of that.
Edit: Just called, only verizon or sprint phones
I'm pretty sure Virgin Mobile would count as Sprint, as it is owned by them. If not, you would need to SIM unlock. And im not completely sure you can do this with CDMA phones.
I dont think there is anyway you can, not from what i have found.

Good luck. From what I have read it is possible but requires specific knowledge and may be illegal to do it (have heard it either way). Nothing like flashing to Boost. I have never seen anything on how to do it here on XDA. Not saying there isn't information in these forums somewhere, but I've never run across it in any of my searches. If it is illegal than that would explain why.

Virgin does not accept ESNs that are already in the system as Sprint.
Unlocking isnt actually the term either.
Neither is Flashing. LOL Unlike MetroPCS where you can re-flash the device to work with Metro, then Metro will add the ESN to its network system for billing.
For all intents and purposes, Virgin would need to open their system up to either allow existing Sprint ESNs or be able to add ESNs to their billing system..
All,
First off, I want to get it out there that this question has nothing to do with rooting and / or flashing custom ROMs. I have recently acquired a T-Mobile S6 Edge Plus recently and am desperately trying to get it unlocked to Verizon, is this possible? Without issue for me to get this process done? Will I lose an quality, features? service disruptions? any instability and reliability whatsoever? Is this a fruitless endeavor? Waste of my money? I get that GSM vs. CDMA are operating on 2 different bands, but I have also heard that this doesn't cause any issues. Please help me, I really want to use my beast of a phone on Verizon's network since that is my carrier and don't plan on changing to a GSM carrier anytime soon. Thoughts? Suggestions? Also, who would be a reliable source or mom and Pop shop that I can go to in Chicagoland? I don't want to do this Unlock business online if I can help it. Any ideas on how much this service will cost me? $40? or would it be closer to $100? Last I heard, even if I went it got it unlocked to CDMA, I would lose Internet service period. Is this a true statement? (FYI, I understand there are no issues from unlocking within and between AT&T to T-Mobile and vice versa.) But GSM to CDMA is another story.
Thanks for reading folks!

Yes it will work just fine after unlocking the phone as long as you get a micro sim card from Verizon.
If the phone has been paid off for over 30 days then you can use the free "Tmobile Device Unlock" app to unlock
it and if the phone is STOCK and no one deleted the unlock app it should be in the app drawer of the phone.
If the "Device Unlock" app is not in the app drawer then you can simply download it from the playstore.
To unlock it with the unlock app it only takes one click. (you can choose between permanent or temporary unlock)
Here is the direct playstore link for the Tmobile Device Unlock app in case you need it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tmobile.simlock&hl=en
Here is Tmobile's "Device Unlock" step by step instruction link in case you need it:
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-14011
I unlocked my Tmobile S6 Edge+ and when I go into Settings>Mobile networks and click on
"Network operators" then click "Search Now" it displays Tmobile, AT&T and Verizon as options.
The only functions which I know will NOT work using Verizon sim card is wifi calling and video calling.
Also you will need to setup your APN to match Verizon's APN settings.
If you have or know of someone who has a Verizon phone you can simply go into it's settings and
"Settings>Mobile networks>Access point names and edit your phone's access point names settings
making it the same as the Verizon phone's access point names. (this is for Internet to work)
P.s. If the Unlock Device app does NOT unlock your phone it means that it's either not paid off or it has been stolen. (Blacklisted)
Good luck,
Have a great day!
