[q] please!! Anyone!!... - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello , i ran the EB13 exe that was on the samsung website but it froze halfway thru.
then i tried to ODIN back to DI18 but it kept freezing after about three hours it went thu then i flashed the "update.zip" to get to EB13 which worked but it was very unstable for me so i decided to use ODIN and the EB13 tar file.
well its been seven hours of redownloading the Tar files reinstalling drivers , diffrent usb ports and still nothing.
i can only get into Download mode but ODIN just freezes everytime same with the exe i've tried on both my computers nothing has worked.
i install the drivers and the computer recognizes the phone but ODIN always seems to freeze along with the exe any ideas on why?
i don't believe im "rooted" because i was able to ODIN EB13 but it never got passed the samsung boot so im not worried about taking it into a sprint store but that won't be possible until late tommorow can someone PLEASE HELP??
I will be forever grateful

Try again, removing the battery from the device for at least 5 minutes. Press the power button, and hold it for a few seconds, with the battery out. Reboot your computer prior to continuing, insert the battery, then try the flash procedure again, in the download mode, with DI18. Worked for me. Good luck!

Thank you , but no luck yet that didn't even work 8(

Hmmm... Try an older version of Odin. Maybe the version that was around at the time of DI18. I'm all out of suggestions after this. Again, good luck!

Are you using a USB port directly on the back of the motherboard?
Have you successfully used odin in the past with this pc?

[Q] Freezes during ODIN?

Ok, well here's what happened. I was trying to flash Bonsai4All 2.0 and when it was finished the phone booted up, and it would vibrate once, then twice really fast and reboot. And it would do that over and over again even after I restored a backup.
So I tried to ODIN back to stock DK28, well I can't get ODIN to recgnoize my phone? I have the drivers installed. But every now and then it connects
But! When I start ODIN it will began and then during factoryfs, the phone screen would either turn blue. green, or pink. So my question is what can I do?
Also I have no insurance, and I've tried flashing with the pit and without it. And with ODIN 1.61 and 1.0. I've tried every port on the computer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT; also running Win 7, 64 bit
I've had similar issues flashing with Odin on win7 64bit, it seems to be hit and miss for me. luckily I have a 32bit winxp on my netbook which has never failed with Odin.
You could try setting up XP virtualized on your machine, or use a friend's comp to flash your phone, or even a library if its not too sketchy.
Thanks for the reply, but I solved the problem. I read some where that the front USB ports aren't good enough for what our Epics need. So I uninstalled the the drivers, re-installed the drivers, and then connect my Epic to the back port of my computer. And just like that a pop-up showed saying it was installing the drivers and they all succeeded. And ODIN finally worked! I think i'm going to stay stock for awhile though

soft brick issues

ive been trying to fix this issue on my own for the past 5 hours but just cant so i'm going to try to get help from you lovely people at XDA.
so i tried to unlock my bootloader using CASUAL and it soft bricked my phone failing half way through. now when i try to boot into the OS, it says theres been a fireware problem, reset using kies.
so kies is not compatible with verizon note 2's, awesome, i know.
so i try to use ODIN to flash a stock rom in download mode. and ODIN will not recognize my phone in download mode. ive tried every driver package under the sea and nothing seems to work. and on top of that, when ODIN used to work, it kept failing at boot.bin files and would fail.
so i cant get ODIN to recognize my phone any more, but my computer does, and the files i try to download all fail at the boot.bin file.
any help would be great, i know i can get this phone fixed its just very frustrating at the moment.
for those wondering, i fixed this issue by using another windows computer to find my phone via odin,
then just flashed the PIT file, nothing in the PDA section.
phew. trial and error.
where did you get PIT file?

Where did you get the PIT file??

I am a moron stupid mistake please help!

Ive rooted and flashed roms many time and this morning I wasnt thinking and was in goo mngr and flashed 10.2. whatever cm nightly. Of course im mk4 4.3 and that of course is 4.4. anyway it worked except for the fact it would not install google play even though i did g apps and was 4.4 as well so nothing would load as far as apps. And I tried to restore in my philz touch recovery and would not restore md5 mismatch. so after long frustration I factory reset my phone because after all the time of trying to restore it had little space left and plus it stoped reading my ext sd card how convienient. So I downloaded the stock l900vpubmk4 tar file and went to donload mode and open odin set pda for that file and hit start and it will not go past saying startup connection. And now when I try to turn on recovery it says problem with the firmware go to kies recovery to solve this issue or something to that effect which I have never seen this before so there it is Big Mistake if I have to I will go buy a note 3 and be done with it ive put this phone through hell and back so im supprised its taken this long. Any suggestion would be greatly appreaciated!
Stay calm! Please verify your MD5 on the .tar file and try again!
Use an OFFICIAL CABLE! I cannot stress this enough. Use a Samsung or HTC USB cable or find someone who has one (some cheap cables have never worked for me when servicing phones through Odin). Put your phone into Download mode, connect the USB cable, wait a few seconds, now open Odin. You should see a COM port. Try it now.
Sent from my SPH-L900. Please hit the thanks button if I helped you out!

Help me please, I think my phone is toast

My phone was working fine today until I took it out of my pocket and it was stuck at the Tmobile Note 2 screen. I tried multiple times to restart it and no go. Tried to go into my TWRP recovery and it appears there is no recovery.
I tried Odin tonight with the rooted stock file on here and keep getting no pit mapping. I tried with a pit file I found and it just gets stuck. From what I'm reading through google, it appears to maybe be a hardware problem. Does anyone have anything I can try? Phone was running Octos Rom with no problem for months.

See if you can Odin just a recovery image and then try to boot to recovery. I think I have a few different recovery .tar files for T889 if you can't find online. You may also want to try a different cable if you continue to get errors connecting.

I actually did try that, tried stock recovery and TWRP, both say no pit for mapping. using the tar from sammobile I did get it to start downloading one time, it went for like 45 minutes and then finally said failed at probably 3/4 along based on the bar graph that was showing on the phone. That worked after I switched USB ports on the computer although I think that was just a fluke as I tried again after it failed and kept getting the same message of no pit for mapping.

How old is your battery? This may sound crazy, but I thought my phone was toast several months ago but when I changed to a backup battery that I had all was fine. Also, try restarting your computer after you change USB ports. It may help to get Odin working properly. I have a copy of a CWM recovery that's worked for me to get me out of some similar issues. You can download it from my Dropbox here:

Hope that works. Good luck!

Tab SM-210 won't boot anymore, even after installing stock firmwares

Hi,
I recently got a SM-T210 from a friend to repair. The description given was that their kids factory reset the unit and won't boot anymore. First the tablet had the death sleep issue which is a easy fix. But after that the tablet simply continues to show the "Samsung GALAXY TAB3" boot screen and never finishes booting.
As I'm known with Odin I simply downloaded the original firmware from sammobile for this tablet and took the firmware version for the Netherlands as that's where I live. There are 2 4.4.2 versions available and downloaded them both. When using Odin 3.09 and higher I simply cannot install the firmware, but on Odin 3.07 it can. Although it installs the tablet still fails to boot properly and hangs at the tab logo as described earlier.
With Odin 3.09 or higher I'm not even able to install the firmware as it says that there is no PIT file and NAND flash write fails. I've found 2 PIT files for this tablet on the forums and even with the use of these PIT files it still errors with the same issue and installation seems impossible with these versions of Odin.
I've also tried installing TWRP recovery but that won't boot either. When booting the tablet with volume key up it shows the Andriod icon with the spinnng "intestines" and alot of red error messages show not able to find /system and /data. My guess is that this is pretty bad, but that is what I want to fix with the stock firmwares and/or the PIT files (LT02.pit and T210(R).pit).
I'm currently out of ideas to revive this tablet and almost start thinking that it's completely dead, but before throwing it in the garbage bin I'm wondering if anybody here is able to help me further with this issue.
If you think you miss critical information, let me know so I can supply it!
Any help is greatly appreciated and thanked for!

Thanks, I've tried it with Kies but it won't even recognize the tablet. When I put it in Download mode and connect it to my computer the Kies welcome screen keeps switching every 2 seconds to the connecting screen, back to the welcome screen and keeps on going like that.
Any ideas left?

Except for correct drivers etc etc not really, no.
I am facing same problem.
My Tab 3 (Sm-T210) has gone too.
Now I can't restore it.
I have downloaded Stock ROM from sammobile.org,
but I can't extract this properly.
It always says that "files are corrupted".
I am also going to be hopeless as like as you.
