Its currently running CM7 RC1 and I've got an Otter Box on it.
I'm thinking of switching over to Verizon with the Thunderbolt coming out soon. I upgrade phones within a year and I think Best Buy's Buy Back program is perfect for me.
How much do you think I can get out of it?
According to Swappa they seem to be selling for $340-$450
http://swappa.com/buy/htc-g2-t-mobi...ons=excellent&conditions=good&conditions=fair
Just look around on ebay. I will say this it was hard to find one that was under 300 bucks. If you are rooted people have been charging a lot more upwards of 400
From my permarooted overclocked HTC G2 with cyanogen 7 nightly via XDA app
install snesoid and the phone's value with instantly be worth over 6000!
delete system 32 and your pc will run faster!
smoke menthol cigarettes if you didn't brush your teeth today!
search ebay and maybe you won't have to ask to reassure yourself of a price!
Just depends if you can find someone to buy it for the price you ask. I mean these things are really subjective to the buyer.
I bought my G2 used with a little wear on it with a 16GB MicroSD card for $285. But I see them go online if they're rooted in pristine condition with extras for close to $400.
I just old my rooted Evo 4G for $390 if that gives you any indication. That phone came out in June.

Lovely device but some things I just can't live with!
Does anyone want to give me £300 for it (brand new with box and original HTC case) or a swap for an unlocked HD2 (with a perfect screen please)?
Thanks for looking...

HD2 for sale
Just read your post.
I've gone the other way and bought a Desire. So now have an HD2 for sale. I was going to list it on ebay, but if you've sold your Desire and not yet bought an HD2 then mine is for sale. I'll take 200 quid for it if you're interested. Saves me the hassle of sticking it on ebay and paying them fees.
Screen is fine...official HTC screen protector on since 1 week after buying phone and it's lived in the supplied pouch since day 1.
Can send pics if required. Let me know...email or reply on this thread.

Hmm, I've got an unlocked HD2, flawless which I have no need for and it just sits collected dust. Well, in it's box
Could do with another Desire...
Swapsies?

I would trade my desire for your hd2 lol

Don't get me wrong, I think the HD2 is one of the best bits of kit and the build quality is second to none. I just was never a fan of winmo and i'm not much of a rom/tweak/h4xx0r (is that what the kids say these days?)
But I'd prefer another desire as I'd get more use out of it and one thing i hate is wasted technology. And my HD2 is just sitting there..
actually, now you mention it...

Sale or swap might be the way forward for me too...since I'm new to Android at least I'd have a back up if I bricked mine...lol.
So there you go...sale or swap anyone?
And for the record, I'm with isaw on my opinion of the HD2...it is a fantastic bit of kit, just for me I felt the time was right to move on to a newer platform.

Hi Jayz,
I'll try and get some pics done tomorrow...not been well today (recovering from kidney stone op earlier in the week, but had a bit of discomfort today). It's got a screen protector on at the minute. Do you want me to take the screen protector off so I can take pics of the actual screen? I have a spare screen protector (genuine HTC) I can send with the phone if you buy it.
I also have a 4gb card in the phone which I'm happy to include with the phone. Or I can put an 8gb card in for an extra £10. That's up to you.
The phone is currently flashed with CleanEx 3.50 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=629409) - which is now up to v4.30. However, I'm happy to flash it back to a stock ROM if you want.
It got it on a vodafone contract but it was unbranded and unlocked from the factory.
I've also flashed the HSPL to 1.42....basically, making it incredibly simply to flash any roms.
I don't live in the Midlands, but I'm sure we can work something out if you want the phone.
As I said before, I'd rather sell it on here as I know it'll go to someone who is willing to experiment with it as much as me...plus fleabay don't get their unjustifiably high fees from the sale....lol.

if you want you can send photos of ur phone to my email address [email protected]. Only two things i need to know one any marks on the screen and two any damage on body and don't worry about memory card.
i bought one from ebay is it worth it?could i have gotten a better one?
condition is mint no scratches or anything
hey,
i bought the phone a few month ago for about $300...
and of course you could have gooten a better one...
But here's the BIG BUT:
-when you want to have a hardfware keyboard then theres only one other phone...the desire z (about $600)
-if you dont need the keyboard then u could get the HD2 if u want it to hgave windows mobile
-or you could get the desire wich in my eyes is a high end device without any limits for now...
--->but thats all a matter of what you want to spend for a new phone...
but i can only tell you that it is a great phone i use it every day and its just great to have the keyboard...
and for that price $200 you couldnt get a better phone then this one!
just flash a cusom rom and the phone is just awesome!
nick
Not a bad price; was it a 'bid' or 'buy it now' option?
I was lucky to snag one with a bunch of accessories (including 2 batteries, 3 cables, 2 AC chargers, a spare battery cover, extra stylises, & an Otterbox) in mint condition for about $150 shipped. It was a buy-it-now sale, so I assume that I got that deal because the seller really didn't know what it was worth. The seller was changing carriers and just wanted to get rid of the phone.
Since the phone has been discontinued and the new Windows 7 phones are out, the prices are coming down quickly. I'm not ready to jump into a W7 device, so I'm happy with my purchase.
Keep reading the forums and, if you're brave about customizing it, I'm sure you'll be happy with this device, too. Enjoy!

Well, after reading this thread, I decided to buy one off ebay too. Then to see how the xdandroid stuff is working...
bought my tp2 before they hit the U.S for $600,been pleased ever since. You got one for $200,you got lucky, great buy
Was it an unlocked device? It wasn't a BAD price, really but I don't know if I would consider it a great one either. The phone is a bit on the slow side these days, but not excessively so. They are still selling new Android phones with even slower CPUs. But it's no Snapdragon either. The hardware keyboard is nice. I thought about moving to a Focus with WP7 but I really don't like the soft keyboards and I am not impressed with the Quantum.
So, yeah, not a real helpful post, but the TP2 remains one of if not the overall best WM 6 device out there. AT&T is still selling it for $199 and you would be locked into a 2 year contract for it so if you got it for $199 I suppose you did okay. Especially if, as previously mentioned, you aren't adverse to a bit of out of warranty modding and custom ROMs.

AT&T customer here.. I was pretty happy with my rooted Aria, but it got stolen a little while ago. I've already got my insurance replacement on the way.
Question.. From what I've read, there's a good chance that my replacement Aria will have 2.2 which prevents it from being rooted. I'm pretty much addicted to having Swype, so that's a big problem. I liked the relatively small size of the Aria, but there are times when I think that I might not mind a larger phone.
So.. I'm considering selling my replacement and buying something else. I have to stay with AT&T, so I've looked at the Captivate and the Inspire.
How would your rate these phones vs the Aria (assume 2.2 version) for:
1. Rooting
2. Screen visibility
3. Battery life/speed/performance
Any other thoughts are also welcome.
Also - I had one or two purchased apps on my phone. Is there any way to get those back without having to pay again?
I'd go with the inspire if I were you. Atrix is the strongest of the three...with a locked bootloader. It's like buying an expensive gaming computer only to find OSX on it
So i want to get some peoples opinions on this. I have some money saved up and wanted to ask the community.
I want to buy an EVO 3D or an android tablet. I still have one year left with VZW so i know i will pay a cancellation fee so im also adding that in. i can get a $600 tablet or pay my way out of contract and buy a new EVO 3D. it will cost almost the same.
If you pick tablet then please say which one and why you like it.
Let me know what your thoughts are and which one do you think will be the best road.
If it were me, it would be the HTC Flyer Tablet.
since you're posting on the inc forum, i'm assuming you have one. i for one would keep the phone, due to the ongoing development. and get a tablet. whyy pay the 350 bucks or whatever it is to get out of your contract, when you have a perfectly good working phone? you could spend that money on a decent slate. just do your research, because, just like phones, there are tons out there. i have read the reviews on the evo 3D, and they are not that impressive, in my opinion. with the 3D being mostly gimmickry..
Pick up a transformer or look into the new Toshiba Thrive.
Still rocking the Incredible with the XDA Premium App.
I'd get the evo 3d im planning on buying it aswell need to scrape together some $$$ first its an awesome phone in its own right without being rooted or s-off..htc will unlock the bootloader and we will get s-off and permaroot and a lot of great devs are moving to the evo 3d like virus and myn. But if you dont like the 3d you could wait for the HTC EVO 4G+ http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/22/is-this-the-htc-evo-4g-aka-kingdom/
Which is basically an evo 3d without the 3d....But the evo 3d is better imo because of that extra 3d feature and it isnt that pesky because its only 3d in landscape mode not portrait. The reviews are just people giving their opinion but i dont really listen to reviews because i like to get my own opinion on the phone by having it in my hand and reviewing it myself
One of the main reason why i want to switch is because with Sprint i will save $30 a month and still keep my same plan but i will also get 4g as well. I might wait a month or 2 before buying it because its first gen 3d phone so it will have some bugs to get out.
I say tablet, the Thrive has a full sized USB which is sweet, and the new ARCHOS tablets actually look pretty amazing (I can't believe I'm actually using ARCHOS and a positive term in the same sentence!)
For me, I'm waiting to see what Amazon brings to the plate with their 10.1 inch tablet.
Personally I have been looking at the idea of the samsung tab 10.1. But the Amazon one may be worth the time. I am personally considering the Acer tab. For the price its a good buy.
On the same hand I love the idea of the 3d. Running some of the 3.0 ROMs I can see some of the features that has potential to be really wicked in 3d.
I'm one of those guys that churns a lot--I always need something new to tinker/tweak-- so the lack of CWM (and ROMS by proxy) on our tabs is getting to me.
Anyway, I'll probably be putting it up on eBay and Craigslist soon. What should I ask for it?
-8gb A100 in perfect condition (and with original packaging)
- the Blurex leather case on Amazon (and as seen in the Accessories sub-forum)
- an HDMI-to-mini hdmi cable
- a 32gb micro SD.
Think I could get $300 for that package?
Should I wait 'til Acer updates it to ICS?
I think you will probably have to go lower but you can always list it at that price first specially on Craigslist cause they ALWAYS try to haggle pricing. As far as price standpoint the acer can be had for $249 at best buy, sears, and kmart online. I'm sure stores are the same. 32gb I've see go as low as $29 online. HDMI cable can be had for $10 at amazon for a 15 footer. Cases can be had for $10-20 on amazon as well.
so 249+29+10 or 20 = 290 or 300 (all new)
For the most part most dont really consider tax unless you point that out.
Damn, you're right--when'd they drop to $250 in stores??
I might just have to keep the thing.

I know it sux. I myself ended up returning the one I bought from frys black friday which cost me $275 (250+tax) and ended up buying one on craigslist for $250 just to save $25 so I wont lose so much later when I sell it. But you never know, you could get lucky and someone might not even know theyre going for 250 now.
Also at this time I don't know of any other 7 inch tablet that can compete with the a100 including its price point besides on battery life. What other tablet were you considering?

For a similar price range hes probably has to settle for a Flyer. Which I read is a great device even on single core since its running at 1.5ghtz and has custom roms and great battery life. But may not see ICS and might not multitask as well as dual core.
Oh, no other tablet on the market can touch the A100.
I just find myself reaching for my HTC Desire when I want to fritter away some time and figured I might see if I could get some money back for now and see how the tablet market looks in a year or two.
Are you in nyc I will give you 200 just for the tablet

You probably won't find a lot of ROM work right now on many devices as ICS is a short time away. A lot of devs are not using the time to work a ROM for HC only to turn around and re-work for ICS.
I had an A100 for about two weeks and truly liked the device. Returned it due to battery life, minimal internal storage and IMO very challenging viewing angles.
Got the Samsung Tab 7.0+ and must say it rocks! No ROMs yet but root and CWM available. Pricey, yes. But on track for ICS and the specs are excellent. Best 7" tab available right now IMO. But only till the Samsung 7.7 releases. The Super AMOLED display is killer from what I hear.
Just curious, where are you getting this tablet in the US for anything less then $330? BB has no stock and will not NOT let you order online. They show no date for inventory either. Amazon is the only place I found for this and the price has fluctuated in the last week between, get ready, $460 and $330. It is now at $330. Everywhere else online I try says out of stock. This tablet sells for more then its bigger brother a500.

BestBuy currently shows $249 "in stock" at my nearest store, 92691 zip code. (Out of curiosity, last week it showed in stock at multiple area stores at that price, so I guess they do move pretty quick.)
Of course, I bought mine on Black Friday for $189, getting there late morning without much of a crowd nor long lines. In fact, I went in thinking about a $200 deal on a Blackberry Playbook or Kindle Fire, but seeing the A100 for ten bucks less was a no-brainer.

Sorry man, I'm in the mid-west and not really looking to part it out (I think it makes the most sense to sell it as a package).
Mods: I really just posted this to gather information--if this has crossed the line into 'advertising,' don't hesitate to move it to the XDA Market section (or just delete it).

I've seen them go in and out of stock at local Walmarts and BestBuys for the $250 price. If some one really wanted one, a little bit of daily checking stock and willingness to drive could probably get one for $250.
You can also try craigslist.
Got mine at Microcenter in Cincinnati for $229, minus $100 gift card, $129 out the door. Best purchase of the year.
i will sell mine as well since i cant install rom on it
