I could've sworn that I used to be able to get 3G data while talking on the phone ... but for the past few weeks that hasn't been working!
Am I on crack, or is there something I can do?
Thanks!

You were never able to use 3G data while on the phone. It is a limitation of CDMA. You are able to use 4G while on a call though.
unfortunatly, with cdma networks it is impossible to share data over 3g while on the phone... BUT you can however be on wifi, or even 4g while on the phone and be on the internet.

It's a limitation right now but not one overall. SVDO will take care of that problem but it hasn't been implemented yet on any carrier though I hear HTC Thunderbolt is supposed to be able to do this without 4G. But I'm still a skeptic.

This could only happen if you were also on wifi or 4g. Actually, it may have just been that the page you were trying to load was cached.

Well as far as I know, the thunderbolt is a dual, gsm and cdma phone, so, I believe it should be able to do this.

Well here is the situation. My wife has a moment and she is stuck on one g where we have 3g. I have the evo and I am fine. I thought that it was because the moment sucks. But then I was talking to some friends of mine one with another moment and one with an evo and there all stuck on 1g. I forced evdo only and it will start but they can only download from market nothing else works no mms or youtube. So I switch back to mixed mode and it stays on 1g. I'm at a lose we have tried sprint and like normal there not much help. I can provide specs if anyone has ideas. I'm just at a lose.

You're asking about wierdness on a Samsung Moment in the Evo forum? You may want to post it your question in the Moment forums instead.
did you update your profile and PRL?
are you on the 60669 PRL?

No I'm posting in the evo forums because there is an evo with the same problem.
The evo is more of the issue at the moment.

Sorry, my bad - missed the part of your post where you mentioned that there was an EVO having the same issue. But nebenezer's advice seems to be on point. Should help you pick up the "right" towers and whatnot.

Huh, that sucks.. How long ago did he update? Has this been a constant problem?
All I can guess a this point is you guys are victims of the horrible 3G reception I experience intermittently.
I usually get 1.2-1.7 or so Mbps down.. today I've been doing good to break 100k!!! Horrible. Although I haven't switched to the 1x network at all, but I might as well have at these speeds.
I would suggest (as I have to a few others today, lol) call sprint and have them reprovision your data service from their end. And don't bother with out-sourced tech support, they are usually nice but also usually ignorant. If you don't get a hold of someone that knows whats up then call retentions, they'll get you in touch with the right team.
i dled the 11.19 evo radio and my text messaging started getting 10 min delays, then 20 min delays and sometimes none. i flashed back to the official 7.28 radio to see if that solved the problem, and no it didnt. any ideas from anyone?

Did you *228 (program) your phone after you flashed your radios? Have you contacted Verizon to tell them that your texts are taking a long time and see if maybe it's something on their end? I'm on Cricket and they use *228 to program so I guess I really don't know what Verizon uses but you get my point.
With Verizon it uses *228 option 2 or *22899. I have done that quite a few times with no luck. Everytime I ask Verizon all they want to do is tell me things I have tried already and get nowhere.

It's probably just a coincidence and Verizon is just having problems with their service right now in your area or something then. They are probably just too proud to admit it. Ha ha
HaHa. That's a good one. I hope your right though. It's kinda annoying. God forbid there is an emergency and I don't get the text cuz of the delay.

From my experience with cell phone companies, they all have trouble like this from time to time. Mine does it every once in a while and my buddy on AT&T, his does it ALL THE TIME even with the "all mighty iPhone", my brother is on US Cellular and same deal. My girlfriend is on Sprint and she don't get texts sometimes till the next day! It will probably work itself out. Good luck man.

Rooting my HTC EVO 4G was cool, but it isnt for me at all. I dont have any service anywhere, my wifi sucks, when im in a 4G area, i dont get any 4G coverage. I drop the majority of my calls like my service is with AT&T or something, and overrall, this s**t sucks. Can somebody give me step by step instructions on how to UNROOT my phone and get it back to NORMAL..?

Well none of that should be going on, something else has got to be causing issues. The majority of Evo roms are very stable, in my experiences. What rom are you having trouble with?
To answer your question, the easiest way to unroot is to download and flash the unrevoked s on tool (only if you've ever used unrevoked forever, which most likely you have). That'll turn S on in the bootloader. After that, download an RUU from here on XDA, and run the RUU from your computer. That will flash you back to stock, unrooted.

Nothing you've described should be related to rooting, unless you've flashed something that isn't playing nicely. You are of course welcome to go back to stock, but maybe post what you've flashed and what you were hoping to accomplish by rooting. We may be able to give you some guidance.

Rooting your phone shouldn't have any affect on your phone that way unless you installed or horrid ROM. Check the modem you downloaded with your ROM, maybe you could use a better modem?
Why did you post two nearly identical threads? One would've been enough to obtain an answer.
But then again, so would the search button.
I'm so completely frustrated by this phone.
I live in Houston, we've had excellent LTE for a while now. I had a thunderbolt for a long time that performed flawlessly on LTE.
Since day one, across multiple roms, multiple radios, and more wipes than I can count, this phone has been absolutely pathetic with regards to radio performance.
I'm CONSTANTLY losing 4G, or having 4G and being stuck with gray (non google connected) bars. I'm always singing out of Gtalk, not having texts go through.
The phone burns a hole in pocket (figuratively) sometimes when it drops to 3G.
What should I do? Do i need to get a new phone? Anyone else massively disappointed with the Gnex data connection?
GSM ftw.

Howcome? Same reasons?
the connection are fine over here in boston, i only think i dont like my GN is that i need to charge it 4 times per day.
GSM touters aside,
Have u tried flashing one of the custom radio packages or even one of the radio hybrids?
i had some wifi-mobile data handoff issues with the 4.0.2 radios, but the 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 have been stellar. digs out 4g almost everywhere and whatever the connection, no heat or handoff issues.
i also came from a thunderbolt. and the only place i have issues is when i am in a building pretty far away from windows. at work, where i had an OK 4gLTE connection on my thunderbolt, i have a 50/50 connection on my nexus (probably 80% 4g with thunderbolt)
other than that, as long as i am close to a window, or outside i get as good a connection as my thunderbolt did. you may have a bad SIM card, or a bad radio in general. i would try to get it replaced.

Yes I have, i've use 4.0.2, 4.0.3, the latest "hybrid."
They all have the same issues across the roms.
Thanks though
I live in Arizona and when in Phoenix I have no issues with 4G signal. Samsung is notorious for bad attenna designs. You may have a bad attenna, nit properly wired, or defective radio. I would recommend having Verizon replace it.

if i were u, i would try the 4.0.4 complete package. i also find it easier just fastboot flashing radios from the rootz page. if that has troubles, try

where would I find links for the hybrid radios?
I currently have an HTC One Max that I will be returning after basically leasing it for a year from Sprint *sigh*. I am interested in picking up the Note 4, and am curious to what issues anyone that currently owns one is having. I have seen reports of GPS issues and dropped calls, so can anyone confirm this or mention any other problems that they may be experiencing. Also interested in the overall experience with the phone, besides few developers. Any input would be appreciated as it will either be this phone or the m9, but I would like to keep a larger screen .
Thanks in advance
A few people saying they've dropped calls doesn't mean anything imo and I haven't read anything about gps problems either. I love my N4. No regrets.

This is the same with my One Max, which I haven't ran into to many scenarios where its been an issue. Would be nice if Sprint were to fix the problem with voice and data that they created. I have read articles about them rolling out a volte solution in the near future, but I am not holding my breathe.
I've had mine for a week or so now and I've run into several situations where people say they've tried to call me but my phone never rang nor did it notify me that I'd missed a call. Still working on trying to figure out if it's the phone or Sprint or something wonky with the rom I've been running.
