[Q] ClockworkMod Recovery Site Gone? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greets,
It seems
http://koush.tandtgaming.com/recoveries/
is no longer available. Does anyone know where it went and/or how to find the recoveries in ZIP format.
Thanks!

[Q] Clockwork mod won't flash Rom, won't update

According to ROM Mgr, I have successfully flashed CWM 3.0.0.8 but when I boot into Recovery, it shows 2.5.0.1. Also when I try to flash a new ROM with ROM Mgr, I get error msg saying to check log. The only way I can flash a new ROM is to do the Update.zip thing. Nandroid seems to work ok. What am I doing wrong?
Sometimes you have to flash it twice to get it to take. Dunno why.
hope that helps.
I've tried that several times. ROM Mgr says that 3.0.0.8 has successfully flashed but Recovery says otherwise. Has to be related to the fact that ROM Mgr will not flash any different ROMs. Flashing with Update.zip doesn't give the option to wipe before reflash which worries me a little. How drastic will I have to get to fix this?

depending on what your flashing needs are, you could try to go to rom manager and flash alternate recovery ra_gnm v1.8.1 I have used it and it worked fine for me. not sure if it supports the new scripting for clockwork after 3.0.0.XX. you could also try flashing the alternate recovery and then flash clockwork back right away see if it sticks that way.
I was having the same problem i would flash in RM and when I booted the phone it will still have the 2.5 version of CW.. but Some one here in the forum gave me this file and it work just fine.... dont flash it in recovery just put it your root sdcard and power off and them power on + Vol - and you should have 3.0.8 hope it works....
I have the exact same problem as described above.... I tried the PB31IMG.zip and had no luck any other suggestions ?

I tried this. No luck. I also tried flashing several alternate CWMs. They all show as being successfully flashed in RM, but when I boot to recovery, 2.5.0.1 still prevails. ???????

The OP contains lots of advice for getting 3.0.0.8 installed and working properly.
Perhaps most importantly, make sure "Erase recovery" is checked in Rom Manager settings.

When flashing in hoot your SD card has to be formatted fat32 or it won't work..... check and see if your formatted correctly..... if not back up your files on your pc then reformat and it should work
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
Don't know whether you solved your problem in the last 30 days, but my suggestion is DON'T USE ROM MANAGER TO UPDATE CLOCKWORK.
I downloaded the most recent CWM from Doug Piston's site, renamed it to PB31IMG.zip and put it in the root directory of my SD card, booted into Bootloader, when it recognized the update file, I ran the update and got to 3.0.0.8.
Meanwhile, ROM Manager still reports that I have an earlier version of CWM, and I've even gone so far as to update the .settings file to correct it, but ROM Manager blithely goes about its business ignorant of the real recovery.
Since my ROM isn't supported by ROM Manager, I figure I can just leave ROM Manager alone ---- I've never trusted backups run through it anyway; I always run Nandroids from Recovery.

The tweaks to the menus are great, and it always works perfectly. Ni e that you can choose from several colors too.

[Q] New Clockwork Recovery 5.0.0.0

Hi... I just found that Clockwork Recovery has new version from their website but in zip format. Try to install it through ROM Manager and recovery mode but it is just temporary recovery. Every time I enter recovery mode by pressing power and vol down and choose recovery it is back to old recovery.
Does anyone try this new recovery and how to make it permanent or is it available in img format so I can flash it using Android Flasher.
for your reference please find it here :
hxxp://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.0.0-bravo.zip (please change hxxp into http)
*** sorry for my horrible English and grammar
it is cause you use the fake-flash method, launching CWM 5.0.0 by flashing a .zip file from your current recovery.
in order to permanently change your recovery you would have to be S-OFF and have a .img file of the new recovery
My HTC Desire already S-OFF but where to find this img file of new CWM Recovery?
I have search over Google and this forum but did not found. Is it possible to change this zip file into img file?

Yes but not all file available.
like HTC Bravo only latest recovery in zip format only.
Thanks
Yeah, but as this thread is for v5.0.0.0 then people will want the newest will they not?
someone already did some test?
for example backup the current rom (maybe one with ext partition), then flash an other rom (just for test), and then restore the backup (and see if boots and everything ok)?
i will try later anyway, but of course will be nice to already know if its work or have some problems
Has any one had the edify script error with CWM 5.0.0.0 recovery ?
I flashed CWM 5.0.0.0 today via fastboot and it works fine - however I tried flashing Cool 3D V9 Rom and then when i flashed the boot loop fix & got the edify scripting error does any one know of a work around ??? I did a search and i found some code by coolexe and baadnews but not sure if there is a way to fix this ?

follow koush or clockworkmod on twitter..5.x has faster backups (now it used .tar files) and preserve the file system of each partition (if ur sd-ext is ext3, it will be backup and restore as ext3, if u have ext4 it will be ext4, etc..with previous cwm recoveries the sdext was restored always as ext3)
also a new color sheme..now is blue light
edit: new recovery seems available 5.0.1.0 http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.1.0-bravo.img
I read from a koush twit :
"Desire and Desire CDMA users: I have just switched you to real flashing rather than fakeflash. You will need to S-OFF. with unrevoked."
so, out of curiosity, how Rom Manager can flash the recovery for real?
I always use fastboot, and i though there was no other way than that and the PB99IMG.zip method..
Someone know how that works (i mean the flashing through an app)?
i'm fine with 4.xxxx

Well there have always been another way just not on desire, since s-on users couldn't write to system or recovery while system was booted. But with s-off using a flash_image script will work just fine, which is pretty much what rom manager does(i assume).
So I asked koush on twitter to change us to native recovery flashing since s-off have been around for quite some time for desire
edit: so for everyone s-off that means: to update just install/open rommanager and press "flash clockworkmod recovery"(tested and working just fine)

Thanks to ur tips, i found how it works!
from the terminat emulator on the phone:
Code:
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
that should flash the recovery (even other partition i though), without use fastboot and without use the pc! thats nice!
On AOSP roms the flash_image utility is already included on /system/bin..in other roms (like stock ones) it should be downloaded and placed on the phone and used in the same way
that probably what rom manager does
So there is no way to get the latest version of ClockworkMod Recovery if we are on S-ON ?

[Q] Where is the official download for ClockWorkMod Recovery?

Hi guys
I have used unrevoked to push recovery to my device but it only installs CWM 2.x and i would like to find the official download to the latest CWM .img file so that i can manually push it to my device, i have tried going to the official CWM site but you are only able to download rom manager from there, thanks guys.
EDIT: after some time i found the directory on CWM website for those that are wondering its here: http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/
you could have used Rom Manager from the Market

No he couldn't, theres 2 types of recovery one is permanent (the one you see if you reboot to recovery) the other is temporary and will disappear after use, Rom manager gives a temporary recovery.
Its like that so we can use the latest recovery image but still be able to flash older scripts by using a temp 2.xx.
Sent from my Wildfire using xda premium
Exactly what i was getting at thankyou, i was getting sick of having to keep updating to the temp 5.x so i just wanted to push the actual official IMG file to my phone for that recovery
not official but cwm 5.0.2.0 here
http://www.multiupload.com/M7HOETAK33
lol... site wont download for me!
I'm not sure how official they are - but there's a list of recoveries here if that helps at all

[Q] simple recovery switcher app

Hi,
I was wondering, has anyone tried this app yet in our device?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-simple-recovery-switcher-t2857554
i dont know where we can get the stock recovery img file, so i haven't tried it yet too. does anyone know where to get that file? i'm using 14.4.A.0.108, with dual recovery (Philz, TWRP, and CMW)
any information would be highly appreciated
If you have dualrecovery, there is an app called NDRUtils. You can use it to switch the default recovery.

well, i've found the app, there are three primary recoveries there to choose, philz touch, TWRP adn CMW... and i'm sure it's none of them (at least not TWRP nor CMW), haha, so should i choose philz touch recovery, or there is something wrong with my device? sorry if i annoy you with this dumb question, i'm really new around here, hehe
There is no stock recovery on Sony devices.
