Miui Sd mount to computer not working - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i just flashed another rom and my sd mount was working but on miui my sd won't show up on the computer it just says I don't have the drivers but it doesn't let me install them. So what could it be wrong with the rom?

ok so lets try a few things. First lets try to fix permissions since miui is a asop rom. If that doesn't work make sure you wipe the dalvik cache, card partition, and data factory reset if your using rom manager. Also data factory reset when flashing a totally new rom not an update. If this doesn't work flash back to an older rom and see if this works. If not we will need to flash back to stock rooted to see if that fixes the problem.

I just flashed the stock rooted and it worked. I really like my miui setup and dot feel like wiping data since I don't connect it to the computer that much. But How do I check permission tho?

go into rom manager and tell it to fix permissions at the bottom.

Interesting FC issue

Ok, so I am completely dumbfounded by this. Here's the problem. I download an app and in order to use it, I must uninstall then reinstall it. If I try to use it without reinstalling, it just force closes. If it doesn't force close, when I reboot my phone, I lose all the data in the app.
Also, today was trying to access my sound settings and the entire settings force closed. I managed to fix that by clearing the data of the settings within the application manager.
The weird thing is, its not just on one ROM. I have tried CM7 RC1 and RC2, SkyRaider Sense 3.5 and Virtuous 3.2.0
I am currently running SkyRaider. I have the latest recovery. I have tried to do a factory reset.
Any suggestions?

Is it a phone specific app?

Its any app I download from the market. It even does it when I first flash a ROM with Gmail and Market. Then Gmail updates its fine.

Downgrade the recovery to the 2.x series.
Dinc running Magnolia 1.3/incedikernel/and BnB theme!
Yeah the SD card is formatted correctly. I have been using the same card since last July. And I don't have any apps on my SD card. I keep them all on my phone.
And I thought that you weren't supposed to use an older recovery?

UPDATE: I seemed to have fixed the problem. Insteadof doing a factory reset from the ROM, I did it from the recovery and it seemed to work. I'm still curiousas to what caused that to happen though...

Because a factory reset from the ROM doesn't wipe /system /cache /data, only your own information. You need to do a full wipe through recovery, just like you figured out
I had the same issue when I first moved to CM7 via ROM Manager. Once I followed the instructions at the start of the nightlies thread things have been perfect.

[Solved] Flashed cyanogenmod, stuck on boot screen

Hey guys, I'm really new to rooting, flashing roms, and Android in general (I've used iOS since 2007 until a month ago... please have mercy on my soul). I have an AT&T GN2 that I would like to remove the bloatware from, hence why I began investigating rooting, but it's snowballed into my desire to try out some of the amazing ROMs that the developers here have produced. Since the Note 2 uses the Exynos 4, I rooted using the ExynosAbuse exploit and downloaded Titanium Backup to freeze the AT&T apps. So far, so good.
However, I am wanting to get into how to flash custom ROMs, like CyanogenMod, so I downloaded the CWM RomManager and flashed the CWM Recovery. I downloaded the CyanogenMod 10.1 release for the i317 model (here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024495) and the latest gApps package (for 4.2.1), and flashed both from CWM RomManager. When it rebooted, it showed the CyanogenMod boot screen, but it appears to be stuck there. I'm not sure what to do at this point, and am hoping I didn't brick my phone. Is there anything I can do at this point?
Use the three button combo to get into recovery, should be volume up, home, and power, and then wipe data or install a stock rooted ROM. That should help get you to a bootable stage.

When I booted into recovery, I got the CWM recovery (which is a good thing, I suppose). I wiped the cache, and then installed the CM 10.1 zip and gApps zip. However, I think I still need to wipe data/factory reset, right?
So, at this point, I've:
1. Rooted the device using Chainfire's ExynosAbuse apk (super easy).
2. Installed RootChecker (success) and TI backup (froze bloatware apps).
3. Downloaded CWM RomManager.
4. Flashed CWM Recovery.
5. Downloaded CM 10.1 port for i317 (the AT&T GN2 model) and the 4.2.1 gApps zips.
6. Chose to install ROM from SD card in RomManager, added both CM 10.1 and gApps, and only selected install (did not wipe cache or user data at this point).
7. Received blue CyanogenMod boot screen... excited... but it remains on the boot screen. Sad face.
8. Removed battery to power the device off, placed battery back in, and then booted into recovery mode (CWM recovery).
9. Installed the CM 10.1 zip and gApps zip from SD, then wiped cache.
10. ???

Okay, I booted into recovery mode and fixed permissions... the keyboard still crashes, which means I can't type anything. Do I have to do anything with the kernel? I didn't wipe the dalvik cache, should I have done that?
EDIT: wiped dalvik cache, didn't do anything... apparently, this was a fine release so I'm not sure what could be causing the keyboard issues.

So what ROM are you using? I just picked cyanogenmod because I've heard of it before, but I would like something that works. Is there a way to add another ROM onto the phone's storage, as I don't have an SD card... And since I can't type anything, it's not like I can download it from the phone's browser?

Plug it into your computer and see if you can mount your internal sd. If you can download a new rom to your computer and transfer it to sd. Did you make a backup before flashing?
Im just running stock rooted for now.

Well, I'm downloading CleanROM right now. I also downloaded another cm 10.1 file just in case, perhaps it's because I downloaded it on the mobile Chrome browser that I'm having problems? I also downloaded a kernel from the thread to help with performance. However, if I can't get these on the phone, it doesn't matter. Since I'm on a Mac, I have to use Android File Transfer, and it isn't registering my phone, unfortunately. I may have to go out and buy a cheap SD card and throw the files on there. It may not hurt to have one around, anyways.
Text yourself the download link to CleanRom.

No... I thought that a backup of the original ROM was made when flashing CWM recovery, but I am a noob and that did not happen. Unfortunately, the browser doesn't even work! So I cannot text myself the link for the download. I should be able to flash a zip file from a micro sdhc, right?
Flash the right GAPPS, the crashing keyboard is a symptom of incorrect GAPPS. The December one is for 4.2.1 only, which is what CM10.1 is based on. Make sure you flash the right GAPPS with the right CM version.

Oh... crap. Is there any way I can get the correct gApps on my phone? Ugh... I'm going to have access to a Windows machine today, so I can download the correct GAPPS and put them on my flash drive. I can still put it in USB debugging mode, but will the PC recognize it? Android File Transfer software for Mac does not recognize the phone any more, so I'm a bit limited in what I can do. Unless, like I said before, I can just pop in an SD card with the correct file.
Just grab goo manager from the market and dl the correct gapps to your phone. Either that or use your phones browser. No need for a pc. Boot in recovery, wipe cache and dalvik and flash correct gapps. Should be gtg.
Edit: just saw your browser isn't working. Goo manager's your best bet. Could always try another browser from the market as well. Good luck.

Its a non issue....I believe it just means your not using your SD card to increase your dalvik cache therefore its impossible to clear it because you weren't using the feature in the first place

Please don't double post.. There's an edit button.
As for your question:
How can you fix it if it isn't broken. Just ignore it. Its irrelevant.. This has absolutely nothing to do with being able or not able to flash ROMs. It's much more likely you've flashed the official ICS ROM, or bought it pre-installed which has locked your bootloader. Follow the unbrick guide for your model if that's the case.. However, if you're unfamiliar with ROMs, or even just this model of phone as it sounds, it's probably a good idea to post your current rom, and more details if this is the case before doing so.

your error has nothing to do with the ext partition. I think your issue has a simple fix download the sd formater app for windows (google it) format your sd card using the default settings (do a backup first) and put your card back in your phone after you have restored your backup. You should be good to go. The format that LG uses on the stock sd card is incompatible with CWM.

As has already been mentioned, the Nitro/SU640 etc doesn't use sd-ext for its dalvik cache. As it's not used, you are going to get an error because your recovery is trying to wipe a path that doesn't exist. There is no need for it to exist in the first place, so the error really isn't anything to be worried about.
You say you cannot change ROMs with the sd-ext error... what exactly does it tell you when you try to flash a different ROM without trying to wipe dalvik?
When you change rom wipe dalvik without making the rom works with some problems, I have done tests but always gets something without working

What things aren't working? Just about all the ROMs have things that aren't 100% working correctly, random reboots (no matter how infrequent) etc. Are you sure you aren't mistaking the already existing bugs in each ROM for an error related to wiping dalvik? Just trying to cover all possibilities because dalvik is, if I'm not mistaken, on the system partition and gets wiped when performing a system wipe.
I just ask because I never even wipe dalvik...

When you say you can't access the SD card, do you mean when you hook your phone up to the computer? Even when you go into TWRP mounts and storage and press mount USB storage? If you can't do that you are going to have to Odin flash the stock firmware with your PC.

Aroma only installs selected apks not system files

When I try to install Hyperdrive rom latest release 15 I select all i want in the aroma but then it starts to install only the apps i chose. It is not installing any of the mandatory system files which makes sense why it installs in like 10 seconds.. I wipe everything sys, delvik cache, cache, data.. using TWRP 2.7.0.1
please help me
This is also happening when I try to install Wicked Rom so ANY suggestions would be awesome. I'm probably going to return to stock and then flash new rom
after reinstalling stock firmware through odin and then trying to install a custom rom same thing is still happening so im guessing i should try and go to stock and than completely wipe everything and then try from there?
I'd install a ROM that doesn't have an aroma installer. Then install the one you want with aroma.

After successfully installing stock and TWRP recovery 2.7.0.1
I took your advice and tried install gpe rom and still after rebooting i just get a black boot screen samsung galaxy s4 screen
Is there more i could wipe like a partition that is still bad maybe?
I'm going to go to stock again but this time with odin 3.07 not what i was using which was a much older odin and im going to then install a custom recovery and root and please do tell me your favorite recovery im probably gonna try oudhs cwm and then ill see if i run into problems installing roms.
The main problem is the rom likes to install all its apk options for example adobe reader or samsung music app but it will NOT install any mandatory system files which make the phone work.
after i get stock i also wipe data factory reset in stock recovery which delete everything which is fine i knew it would.
This time i'll also be resetting the flash counter which i havent done

I haven't but i will try. At the moment i am at stock firmware and I would like to know what my filesystem should look like.. When I go into just "/" section before sdcard it shows me lots of folders some looking unnessary and maybe in the way of installing my rom normally View attachment 2650548

Could this be a bootloader issue or something with my filesystem because I can tell these roms are all avoiding like half of their installation. They should be extracting more files and take more than 20 seconds to install

I was looking on Odin at this Nand erase all and i googled alot and looked around but i don't think its useful in my case so i wont check it
there was a thread saying that you could repair your phone if your data was set to a read only not write but i checked with adbshell mount and all my stuff is rw so im good there..
I haven't ever had a problem where rom doesn't fully install..
I was minding my own business on GPe rom from Kot94h and it was good but i decided hmm this has been my daily driver for queit some time ill switch to hyper drive and bamm i realize stuff isn't going right.

I've tried CWM CWM-oudhs thing and ive tried team win.
for now im going to run stock and restore my stuff but hopefully i can get to the bottom of this
I can't think of where the source of the problem is.
I find it interesting how while an app installs i see it installing like system/app/blahblah.apk and that is like the first thing it starts to install
i think if i can remember a rom usually does system/framwork or something along those lines first
I have also MD5 checked all my files and they are all perfectly matching
Any Ideas?
I have this idea to try and erase every file on my device and then flash a room is that even possible
Could someone download root file explorer and go to their "/" and just snap a pic of the folders i want to compare your folders properties for example one of mine say rwxr-xr-x
Or i have another idea.
Is it possible to reformat my system partition with odin maybe with a PIT file??
Think, why would a rom skip installation of system files? It looks like it blazes through the installation after installing a few system apps
