in particular im looking for the "you" ringtone, i cant remember the name of the notifications i was looking for.
Ive downloaded the telus ruu rom posted in the fourms and extracted the userdata.img and the system.img but im having trouble extracting the contents of those

Hey all,
I recently rooted and put a ROM on my phone and now I'm realizing that I wish I still had the stock ringtones and notification sounds. Is there any chance that any of you thought ahead and backed those up? I'm really used to some of them and I'd love to get them back.
I know, bizarre question, right? But if anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

I know this is a "noob search" trap.
But would you kindly explain what tools can be used to extract from a rom, winrar?
Also, kindly link to a rom.
If we can get those into this thread then we'll help the next guy too.
Thanks.
Also, I can't seem to find a stock rom?
Check the "Slide ROM Bible" stickied in the Development section:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6846969&postcount=1
There you'll find just about everything ROM related for the Slide. Look for ROMs released by CR. They're pretty much the stock, T-Mobile ROM with root.

Most files for Android phones are zip files (even if they're named *.apk). They can be explored with any unzip utility.
Thanks. I checked it and didn't find what I was looking for. This is gonna seem ridiculous but all I want is the Modem ringtone that sounds like an old Hayes-Compatible dial up modem logging into a BBS.
It's not in the audio folders even though I know it was on the stock ROM. Any idea where I might get it?

Do you remember what it was called on stock?
Yeah, it was called Modem. Or something to that effect but the word "modem" was definitely in there.
Weird that that one ring would be missing in the ROM I tried to download and extract.
Question for anyone who may know, I've been trying to change the model number on my Alltel HTC Desire after recently flash a stripped down US Cellular 2.2 ROM.
The model number right now is "USCCADR6275US" and I'm just trying to change it to "HTCBRAVOC"
I first thought this would be an edit done in the build.prop file but I never found the value to change in there.
Poking around further I found the value in the default.xml file located in system\customize\CID folder however when changing the default.xml, my model number still is not changing - any ideas?
I've tried this between A8183 and A8181, and yeah it was the default.xml file.
I found that after you change the file, in order for it to take effect you need to reflash the ROM, bit of a hastle, but thats the only way i could fix it.
This only works on Sense ROMS.
i bricked my galaxy s3 i747 and using enewman17s method I downloaded an mk5 file from another of his posts, and with his post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658486 it gives me multiple folders and a boot.img. Now correct me if I'm wrong, the phone is actually up and running now, but the main problems i have found with it is that it will not read a sim card, it says the IMEI is unknown and the sound is not working at all and videos dont want to play. Do i need the files in those folders and the .img file to make everything work properly? If so Im not sure how to flash those on to my phone. The phone was originally bricked by rooting then trying to update, and the phone would only load to the at&t logo then freeze. any other information can be provided and all is welcomed thank you.
It sounds like your IMEI/EFS was corrupted or wiped.

This thread is what I have saved for dealing with such an issue, there maybe something newer take a look around the forum. Assuming there is nothing Restore Plan D of that thread is what I assume you will want to look at.
tried the methods, none worked. went to plan D and the link explaining how to do so no longer exists. is there any way i can atleast get audio output and videos to work?
Can you tell us the bootloader version on your phone?
im working on a project using this phone, i need to know where to put the startup logo .rle file, i already have an rle made but i cant seem to find where to put it in the files,
the only one i can find is named /samsunglogo_wvga.rle and i dont want to try that one and accidentally brick the phone.
can anyone verify what this file does? is this the one im looking for? if not what is the real filename and where is it?
also a few other questions:
is there any way to safely remove the actual calling/voicemail/messaging software? i wont be needing it for the project.
hello?
Hey everyone,
I was searching my phone's combination firmware (SM-G988B_XEF_G988BXXSFHWB1) online, but I did not find it thus far probably because of its region. Despite this, I tried to try to make the firmware myself, so I browsed online and found a tutorial about this, which mentions three specific files : boot.img.lz4, sboot.img.lz4, and system.img.lz4.
After downloading and extracting the firmware, I found that system.img.lz4 was missing, instead I have a super.img.lz4. After a bit of research, it seems that a system.img is hiding into super.img.lz4, but I'm not really sure anymore about how making the combination file and I don't want to break my phone flashing something broken.
Any help would be really appreciated

I think the right firmware for your phone is this one: https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s20-ultra/firmware/#SM-G988B
