Hello, I am a new HTC Desire HD owner. I got my DHD from the UK and I have it set up to use the Softbank network. I searched really hard, and I seem to be connected now. However my DHD has no MMS mail features so I am looking for some help with installing that.
I have read over in the Desire boards that if I install Jakesmod that I can adb push the mms.apk and get the mms and sms features, however I am worried if this is compatible with the DHD.
What version of jakesmod will work best with the DHD?
Are there special steps to take that apply to the DHD or can I just follow the exact Desire guide and will it work the same on my DHD?
Anyone in the same situation as me that can help?
I have fully permarooted DHD with the Revolution HD rom flashed.
If someone can give me some help I would be so happy and you would be my best internet friend for ever. ^_^
I am thinking of rooting my Softbank DHD, but the same issues I had on my Touch Pro getting MMS and SMS to work on Softbank's network have made me a bit leery of installing a new ROM. Does installing the Softbank mail app do anything? Where did you find the information to get it setup on the Softbank network?
So?...Did you guys get through. I am in the same situation and tried al combinations. Dosent work
Ok what I did was - i copied the mms8.apk file in the systems/app folder and changed the APN settings as per the black SIM (3GS and IP4 with sim adapter) settings. BUT STILL NO LUCK.
type - softbank mms.apk installation on desire hd on google.co.jp
the first link shows how to do the neefull ......
Any help will be appreciated.apk )

Folks,
I am using an unlocked version of HTC T-Mobile TP2. I have been trying to run the Gtalk Instant Messenger that has been provided by T-mobile using my non T-mobile sim card to no avail. I then checked the settings config file and figured out that the IM client was trying to connect to the following server:
GTLK_PROV_URL: http://wirelessvillage.gtalk.t-mobile.com
GTLK_CLIENT_ID: wv:WIN.OZ#[email protected]
Have anyone of you been able to tweak these values and run the IM client on an unlocked version of a HTC T-mobile TP2
Thanks for your help in advance.
Best,
Devesh
PS: I have uploaded the original setting config file along with this thread for your reference.

First Question <-------- Solved!
I am currently on Softbank in Japan using an HTC Desire I received as an upgrade. I mainly bought it to tether at work and use Skype on 3G as I don't have internet, and I like to keep in touch back home.
So I rooted the phone, and installed the latest version of Open desire.
After doing so, I noticed the battery life was terrible. Reading a thread on this forum, I read a vague answer on why its being caused, and an even more vague fix. (I can't posts links)
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=781493&page=3
Is there a way to manually perform the modifications Softbank made to their Android ROM's? Except as a patch on my already installed ROM?
Second Question:
Also, though I really enjoy Open Desire, I really like the apps that came with the HTC Softbank Desire (mainly the calculator, Contact manager and the clock/weather).
If I install the updated Softbank 2.2 Froyo on my phone, can I just pull all the apps I need with the SDK and ADB.exe? Then re-install the apps on my Open Desire ROM after I flash back with my Nandroid backup?
Made my questions more organized.
thought I'd bump to see if anyone knows.
still looking.
Hi,
i have on my HTC Desire the Problem that if i am longer logged in a WLAN network, the automatically switch from Wlan into the 3G network is not working when i leave the WLAN.
I have to connect into the "Flightmode" and back that the Desire switch to 3G.
My Desire is rootet and i have this problem with all ROMs i testet (Redux, GingerVillain, LeeDroid, MIUI).

No Ideas? *hmpf* :-(
i had a similar problem on stock 2.1...my problem was my APN settings (i had a proxy listed and once i removed it, my problem was solved)
Hi, thanks for your reply.
I have no entry for the proxy in my APN. :-(
Also i reseted my APN Settings to default - it seems that this is not the problem?!
see if you can find the APN settings for your specific carrier on the internet to check they are correct...other than that, i have no idea, sorry
Yes, i double checked the APN details...
Thank you for your help... Hopefully the problem will be gone if HTC release an offical 2.3 Gingerbread ROM and the developers here can use this one?!
Pity...
Move up...
A long time ago since i started this thread, but the problem is still the same.
Anyone here who can help now?
thx

I give up :-(
I have a korean english htc desire hd given ti me by my friend and since i use it here in the philippines, i have 90 sms character limit instead of 160. Any work around here? I have a feeling.it is about the keyboard and kanguage but i cant set it to like that.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
I have a same question for this, how to make it to be 160 characters?
Have you solved the problem?
I use HTC with Olleh service previously, however since I want to take it to Indonesia, I need the 160 characters....
This answer maybe old for you two but my solution is to flash another ROM. I have increased the SMS character limit to 160 with an American ROM (and it still works well in Korea). I'm still trying to figure out which setting exactly control this sort of thing in Android
i ve exactly same problem of limited sms character ie 90 only on my htc desire HD with Korean Olleh rom installed ,,,
its gingerbread 2.3.5 sense 3.0
If flashing a new rom is the only solution to this problem than pls tell me do i really need to downgrade the firmware before flashing custom rom.
and plz guide me the exact sequence of doing it as should i need to downgrade first then set the phone in s-off mode and then root the device ...
plz guide as i am new to all this ..... i ve tried to go though the information available regarding this but still i dont feel confident about doing it.
plz tell me some easy way to do all this ,, as m really confused
Regards,
BABAR
