I've been having issues with the GPS. No satellite icon pops up when I have the GPS enabled. GPS Status would run but appears to not be able to lock onto any satellites.
Read into some fix in the CM7 RC1 thread about the gps.vision file. Tried pushing through ADB. Rebooted, didn't work. Downloaded Super Manager, deleted the file and put in the file once more. It did not work.

Glad the fix worked for others though.

Now, I have the same problem as this user. I cannot even open GPS Status anymore. I tried what seems to be the only fix on the forum. How can I fix the GPS? This is an essential function!
My GPS also wasn't working on RC1. I fixed it by flashed the nightly that came out after RC1 (#1) and instantly fixed my problem. Heck when I tried the navigation in less than 5 seconds it already started to work . This is the nightly I flashed btw, you can flash it right over the RC1 (I wiped cache and dalvik though) http://mirror.teamdouche.net/get/cm_vision_full-1.zip
Thanks I'll try it!
EDIT: IT WORKS! +1 to you!! I didn't wipe dalvik cause I forgot and that might've caused my Swype to act up. It kept force closing on me after I flashed the nightly. I had to uninstall Swype and then installed it again. Everything seems to work now!! THANKS A LOT!!

I believe they fixed the GPS in build #41, which was right after RC1. They were trying out some experimental builds for the GPS that messed it up for many people in the late #30's and up to the RC1.

been having this issue with just about every rom I flash, tried by flashing cm7, myns 5, nets 1.4.2, and mik's froyo...the issue is when I open up google navi it tells me its "checking navigation availability"
using most current radio's and everything, with RA's 2.2.1 and before every flash I have been doing full wipes, twice actually to be sure everything is wiped.
help me out please, thanks in advance fellas

Is your gps turned on? what version are you running og google maps?
I found this bug would just happen the first time running it, to fix just run the Google maps app, put in an address, and choose navigation when you click on the bubble. It will then open the navigation app, and should work fine. After that you shouldn't have any more problems.

Hey guys,
I just flashed the CM7 RC, which CM stated to pretty stable and fine for everyday use. I downloaded the RC from within ROM Manager and did a wipe. Install went perfect and everything was as it should be. I then go into Market to download the Google Apps. When I try to open any of these apps though they all force close. I went and tried to download a few other apps(FB, Twitter, etc) and they all do the same. The apps that came with the ROM (Torch, FileManager,ROM Manager) all work fine...
I tried a reboot, but the problems continue.
I guess I'll try to flash again form the SD-Card this time to see if it has the same problems.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Incredible510
Read through the development thread, people are having problems with rc 1 build.
For the time being, im sticking to nightliessince they are stable most of the time.
Ok thanks.
Do you know the differences between the RC and the nightly builds?

From what i have gathered, nightlies continue to be in development wirh new rhings being added. Rc are bundled wirh the most best applicable things and left as is...or to shiw what the final build will look like.
Nightlies continue even after final build most of the time.
A senior member might want to chime in on this as well.
Edit....in newer builds my simeji app seems to be colliding with android keyboard ap via adw launcher...dont know what to do haha.
Apps will FC because its gingerbread. Also this is a known problem with GB and CM7.

Oh ok. So its on the app side.
So i went and downloaded it again, this time flashing from the SD-Card. Everything came up fine, but when I started up I didnt go through a google account setup and theres no market.
Any way to get the market app?
Thanks
Here is the deal, first the permissions are not right when you are getting the FCs. Go into rom manager and click fix permissions. Also I thought this forum had intelligent members .... gingerbread is not to blame for any force closing. It is completely backwards compatible. I am running CM7 RC and it is working after 2 tries and fixed permissions. No problems.

And you forgot to download the Google apps package with your CM7. You will have to redownload and reinstall to get the market back on until they release a separate Google apps add on for GB

Ok thanks, but where is that Google Apps Package download?
It came with the download from ROM Manager, but not when I downloaded it from CM's site(http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/files/file/220-update-cm-700-rc1-inc-signedzip/).
If you could direct me to the download that includes the GApps it would be really appreciated it.
Thanks.

Thank You So Much!
This fixed all problems.
I'm also running CM7 RC1 with zero problems. When I first installed it, I got tons of FC's on the first boot. I rebooted into recovery and did a factory reset. After that, everything has been running fantastic.
Everything has been fine for me running cm 7. Now today, force closes on anything internet related. Browsers, reader, market etc... Have fixed permissions, flashed clean on a factory reset. Any ideas?? Also are there other apps that fix permissions besides rom manager?
Edit: Got everything working off a clean install. Oh and cwrecovery fixes permissions (face palm).
Maybe unrelated but why does setcpu never give an accurate core speed report using the widget? Example: two hours ago I set the CPU to 1113 to test neocore. After the test I idled it back down to 998. The widget never updated and now two hours later it still hasn't updated and it still says its at 1113. The only way to get the widget to reflect my current setting is to remove it and then place it back on the screen.
DINC // CM7 RC2 // SLAYHER#9
So I flashed my Nightly 31 and worked fine... beside the GPS... anyways I then noticed that RC4 came out so I backed up the current rom and cleared cache and flashed RC4 over the Nightly all though Rom manager.
Well RC4 didn't fix the GPS for my Evo so I went back to the Nightly through recovery... Now when I was back in my Nightly I noticed that my contacts were all missing and it said to sync my acc. to upload them. so I opened Gmail to make sure my acc. was still on the phone but Gmail just opens and closes... no force close just pops up and then closes. so I uninstalled it and tried to open the market to reinstall but the market won't even open! the button is just non responsive... WTF
all my other gapps work maps...etc...
So I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this problem or if anyone knows a fix... Thanks in advance for any and all help!
Well since you cleared the cache, you may have to just re-flash the rom with the latest gapps. Normally shouldn't have to, but that should fix it.
Once again, you do not need to create a new thread for problems with CM7. There is a huge thread with thousands of people checking it daily. Post your question in there and it will get answered.
The only problem for me to post in the main forum is it takes forever to sift though the posts...
I would love to fix it without re-flashing the rom... I want to keep my txt and stuff and Titanium doesn't restore txt properly (at least its never worked for me)
which I find odd cuz Titanium is so useful and had work with backing up tons of game and stuff for me... IDK...
Hi, everyone; adding to the flood of questions...
I've been having some issues after a reboot lately:
- a couple of my apps will disappear. Namely Line Runner and the Merriam Webster Dictionary. I did some searching on this earlier and people who have had similar problems said it was due to the apps being installed on SD. I moved them to the phone, which seemed to solve the problem, but:
- rebooting also seems to make me lose my latest Google Search and Maps updates. The market will prompt me to update these. These apps are already on the phone, so no clue how to fix that one. But the most annoying thing is:
- after reboot, several of my game apps will force close when I try to open them. It seems like it's the more processor-intense ones: Pew Pew, Osmos, Anomaly, World of Goo. I thought maybe it was because of the undervolting/underclocking settings I have (from GideonX), but the apps work fine (running quite smoothly) after I install them, as long as I don't reboot. As soon as I reboot, if I try to open them again I get FC. If I uninstall then reinstall, they run fine again.
Any ideas? I'm running Juggernaut 4.1 with faux's 009u kernel and, as I said above, Gideon's script. I tried one reboot back to faux's stock clock/voltage settings, but I still got FCs on the apps. Granted, I didn't try it again or give it time to settle in or anything.
Any thoughts, folks? Thanks!
fix permissions? fresh wipe and install? clear cache? fiddle around
Ah, forgot to mention. Tried all of the above (fix permissions, clear cache, reflashed ROM, even recovered to my pre-custom ROM backup and reflashed from there).
I did some more testing on this, and I think I've narrowed down the problem. I flashed back to stock voltage/clock settings under faux's kernel, then reinstalled one of the apps I had issues with (Osmos). Upon reboot it still ran okay. So it seems I won't get force closes after reboot IF the app was installed under stock settings.
Does anyone know why undervolting and/or underclocking would cause apps to force close only after reboot?
EDIT:
Well, never mind. I did some more testing, and what I thought worked last time didn't work again. Must have just gotten lucky that time. Sigh.
Try wiping your phone with darksides super wipe and clean flash a rom. Check the md5 sums to make sure youre not installing a bad download

Oh, wow, didn't even know about the existence of that tool. Will definitely give that a try when I have some free time this weekend. Hopefully I can report back with positive news.
Thanks!
Don't want to count my chickens, but using super wipe seems to have done the trick so far! Using super wipe before flashing Jugg 5.0 seems to have gotten rid of my problem of FC apps.
Thanks again!
Here recently, when I use telenav navigation it will start to navigate for a little while and then it will just stop and turn off by itself. It does this on every Rom I have tried in the past month. I'm currently running the jackpot Rom. I like telenav over Google as well, so I would like to see if someone knows how to fix it. I've even tried uninstalling and down loading straight from the market and it does the same thing.

Fix permissions.
Sent from my Motorola StarTac magically running ICS
Try wiping Cache and Dalvik then fixing permissions... Fastest way you can do all of that from AmonRa recovery then reboot
Tried that through amon, I also tried fixing permissions through Rom manager.and that didn't fix it either. When I open telenav, I can choose a route and then it will say getting route. Then when I hit navigate, it will start to give me the directions then it will just shut off.

Are u restoring through titanium or a fresh market install. Have u tried deleting the data folder for telenav off of your SD? Have u tried the ##GPSCLRX#
Just a few suggestions. Good luck.

I tried restoring through titanium backup but that did not work. I also tried doing a fresh download from the market and it will work for a little while until I open it again, then it will stop working. I went from MikG to the updated Energy ROM so in doing so I partitioned my SD card wiping everything off and wiping everything before installing Energy, then it did the same thing. So when Karma Jackpot came out I went to that, again, clearing everything off my SD card and doing a fresh install......and it does the same thing. I can run an old version of telenav with no problems at all. I cant figure out what to try next.....What is the ##GPSCLRX#? I may try that and see what happens.
Hey Randy try this fix

I just deleted the telenav folder and uninstalled telenav.....then I did the ##GPSCLRX# trick. Rebooted phone and downloaded telenav from the market. Turned on GPS and opened telenav. Accepted the terms and it started downloading the files and got to 12% and cut off....it did this 2 times. Finally it downloaded all the files and it started up. I punched in a location near my home to see if it will work. It found the location and said "getting fastest route", then it just shut off. CRAP! I can do TB to the older version and it works, but I really want to get the new version working as I like it better than google maps. By the way, my wifes phone is not rooted and it works perfect.....pisses me off!

Well, flashed the fix above, rebooted phone then tried it again.........still cuts off. I dont get it.
probably need full wipe x3, reflash ROM, let it settle about 10 min then try again. it works for me most of the time...good luck
Try that method Badjoe suggested... Go into recovery and wipe EVERYTHING with the EXCEPTION of your Secure Digital Card... And just for good meassures you can even reflash your Rom. The Only downside to all that is that you'll have to start all over again but your GPS problem will very likely be fix and you can be on your way.
I wiped cache and dalvick cache 3 times and reflashed the ROM. Telenav now works. Thanks button hit for both of you. Thanks guys! :good:
