Hi,
After having the Desire for a year now I finally decided to root and flash a rom. Got through the root pretty well but am now struggling with the rom.
I flashed Oxygen and all looked and felt great until i tried to add a shortcut and widget to my front screen as it never did anything when i chose the option. Then when I pressed the lock button the screen would not boot back up. The key pad lit up but no screen. I took the battery out and rebooted but still the same thing happened.
Ive now done a nadroid restore and back to the stock rom but like the simplicity of Oxygen. Any idea's what it could have been? Can you put widgets and shortcuts on roms?
Before installing i did a facory reset, are there any other resets i need to do?
Sorry for all the questions,
Thx
Hmmmm would seem something messed up. You can try reflashing it. That usually works with a rom (has done for me before). I don't know what launcher Oxygen comes with but you can try another launcher for free and see if that's any different.
When you change to a different rom, you should do a factory reset and wipe the Dalvik cache as well. If your upgrading a rom, you don't need to wipe anything.
To be honest, I am going to install Oxygen and see if there are any errors with it because a lot of people seem to be having issues with it.
**EDIT**
I installed Oxygen RC7 no problems at all. Did data wipe, cache wipe and Dalvik cache wipe then installed it. Added widgets, apps and shortcuts to the launcher.
I guess something messed up for you to wipe as I said above and flash it again.
Cheers for that, i'll give it another try later.
Is it worth updating my radio as there seems to be a lot of debate to weather you need to despite some roms requesting specific radios?
Just re flashed it and everything is working great thx.
Flashing a radio helps if your having problems with data connections on your current radio. To be honest, I just flash the current radio anyway just in case but it isn't necessary.

I think i've just got my head around ROMs and all the other millions of acronyms. I do like the look of the Oxygen ROM, only i'm not a fan of the green icons in the status bar, is the colour changeable, and does anyone suggest Oxygen as a good ROM to flash for a first timer?
I must add i love the dark bar and prefer having a dark background, so silver/bright etc task bars are a no no
Cheers.
Oxygen is a great ROM, but i would reccomend u go for a froyo rom first so u got more options with themes and such. but rly its a matter of taste and what u want .. stability or experimental.
Experimental: CyanogenMod 7
Stable: eMIUI, Oxygen 1.0.4
Sense roms?
Hmm im using Sense HD port now, since everything works. its stable¨
im using InsertCoin with my own tweaks and theme
u can allways check out my FroSTeD GingerBread theme for Oxygen 1.0.4^^
Rom and theme here
BUT, if u decide to go for a Android 2.3 Rom i rly recommend CM 7, Oxygen 2 RC7 is just as good but less theming options i think.
Heres a nice theme for CM7 Rom
Clicky
I tried the insert coin 1.8 and got caught in a never ending bootloop lol.
I have Leedroid 2.3d A2SD. It's slick and stable and had no issues with it.

then u did not do it right. read the whole first page. then u can complain if u did everything 100%. ive not had 1 single rom on bootloop. to get insertcoin to work u need EXT 4 partition with 1gb recommended. its not hard if u actually read what to do istead of just trying the easy way like Leedroid is. and leedroid was boring and old news
Well im now running on Oxygen 2.3.2 which is really nice.
However...i keep getting a message saying "The application settings (android.process.media) has stopped unexpectadly. Please try again"
This is ALWAYS the case when i choose the "sound" option from the settings menu.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
It means you didn't wipe properly before installing the rom. Boot in to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache (under advanced) start up and see if the problem persists, if yes you need to do a full wipe(data/factory reset, cache and dalvik cache).
Shall give it a go. Odd seeing as i did wipe it all before 0_0
Also, i assume if i factory reset, is that from the recovery menu, and then re install the ROM?
Yes, all wipes from recovery and then reflash the rom. Keep in mind all the data on the phone will be gone.
Exactly the same problem...i'm using Launcher Pro Plus if that's any help.
This is precisely why i've put off flashing ROMs for this long, to prevent naffing up my phone, and now
Well if you don't want any issues I don't understand why you would install a RC, also I'm pretty sure the fc is not a rom issue but a user issue.
If you did everything correctly you should have a normal functioning rom (except form the know issues), even with launcher pro plus cause i have the same setup.
Have you ever disabled signature verification? If yes there is a small chance your issues are caused by a corrupted zip file.
If you can't get oxygen to work and want a really stable custom rom use Leedroid. If you are done with rooting and custom rom's just run the latest RUU.
Thanks for the quick reply, where can i access the lastest RUUs to flash them from please? I may well try again at a later date, but it seems too much hassle currently with having to reset and change everything *sigh*
I've just reset to the last point using Nandroid before i flashed the ROM. I've still got root access which is good, but everything runs back to normal now.
A brief foray into the murky waters lol!
mrfish123,
Pretty sure I know what is causing your problem as I recently resolved this issue myself. If I'm right you did a full wipe before installing, but the issues started after restoring your apps (titanium backup?).
What I was doing was wiping and then restoring all apps with data. Lots of these are system settings/apps which come from the old ROM, so in effect you re restoring all the stuff you wiped in the first place.
What you need to do is:
Wipe (system wipe from recovery, and do the chache and dalvik cache too for good measure).
Install ROM
In Titanium select 'restore missing apps with data', but before you run it, go through the list and uncheck absolutely everything which is not obviously an app you have installed yourself, so anything HTC, system etc. You only want to restore your apps.
Once I did this I had no issue installing a custom ROM, and have had no problems running it for over a week.
auraxsense!
Redux-RC2.1 (Gingerbread 2.3.2) highly recommended - smooth and fast

running leedroid atm, so far everything seems nice
I am having issues with Kingdom lockscreen. I have installed it and the ringpull comes up with the time but the widgets do not appear. I can go into personalise and choose which widgets to display but they still do not show up. On a couple of occasions they have appeared for less than a second before disappearing. I have flashed the lockscreen a number of times now and still no luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Stuart
no ideas anyone? I've read of a couple of people with the same issue but literally a couple, ad even then there were no solutions posted
Not had this problem, the only things I could suggest; re-flash the kingdom lockscreen and then wipe the dalvik cache. Or possibly mount system and flash the lockscreen.
Other than that, I'm at a loss.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
In SEOs thread, in the OP, he states that some solutions to some problems.
Try 'clear data' in HTC Sense (the one with the home screen as a logo) in the 'Remove App' settings.
NOTE: it will delete your Home Screen widgets.
But go read his 1st post, and he tells you which data to clear when you have issues with some of his MODs
Thanks for the help, tried all the above and still the same problem. Really puzzles me why it would be happening and its not a more common problem. I followed the instructions to a T when flashing ARHD and the mods as I'm sure most other people did so I really am stumped by this
So I've just flashed ARHD 5.1.8 and the all in one sense 3.0 pack and still having the same issue
The sense pack includes kingdom lockscreen I should have said
Re flashed 5.1.8, wiped cache and dalvik cache, rebooted into recovery, flashed sense 3.0 pack and still the same problem. Must be something wrong with my phone, dont know what though, very frustrating
Again the apps appeared for a second and then disappeared the first time I rebooted
I think I might just have to wipe and start again from scratch. eek
Yes that seems the best thing to do. A hardware fault is extremely unlikely.
Jeez I hope not! I meant something software related though, I just did a full backup after I installed the ROM so maybe it something from that. I think I'll wipe and start from a clean install and see if that helps. Do you know what the backup of apps is like from google? Reliable? Does it backup in-app data yet?
This post is purely to get up to 10 posts so I can post in the right forum. Apologies

SILLY QUESTION from my side BUT why are you trying to flash Kingdom lockscreen? Doesn't it have that installed already?
Try just re-flashing the ROM WITHOUT full wipe. If that doesn't work then try downloading the ROM again.. fresh download, clean wipe, data, cache and delvik and re-install ;o)
Hope this helps you mate!!
Ok guys I am starting this thread because I cannot find an answer after searching...
Basically what my problem is right now is that upon reboot of my phone, I get to the lockscreen page and there is no slider to unlock with. Just my wallpaper and notifications bar on top. This happened to me last randomly without me doing anything major (moving apps to sd card, installing new themes, etc.). I simply clicked the screen off after a text and then couldn't unlock the screen.
I am currently running the InfectedRom on my Evo with netarchytoastmod as a kernel I forget which version. I have wiped dalvik cache and regular cache and tried a reboot. Still same problem. I wiped both caches again and reflashed the rom and still nothing. The only thing I can think of to do next is to do a full data wipe, but I'm trying to avoid that cause thats always a hassle. Any ideas out there?
Any help would be appreciated.
I'm not saying its virus' rom,but i had a few bugs trying to use that rom, after the second time flashing it,for some strange reason,my phone would'nt install it anymore,it kept giving error messages. It looks like a real good rom,so whoever got that rom installed and running, let me know your trick, lol.Other than that,i can't give you an answer for your question.Good luck.
Personally I think its the best rom i've used up till now. Looked awesome and never had a single problem with it :/ Thanks anyways!
I was wondering if anyone could help me out please. I've tried searching the forums, but I haven't been able to find my exact issue. Basically, I feel as if my phone seems to have increasing issues with flashing through Clockwork Recovery; here's the details:
I originally rooted my phone using the Odin flash method. I flashed the Juggernaut available at the time, wiping data/factory, cache, dalvik, and battery stats through clockwork first, and letting it chill for 15 minutes with the first boot. I follow the same steps each time I flash another rom ( I've read that I should also wipe /system, but Juggernaut seems to do that itself, so I haven't ). A month and a half ago, I wanted to add a few things, so I wiped, then flashed the latest Juggernaut, rebooted, let it settle, and then flashed the ICS Ultimate Theme, no wipe, then after another settle, flashed the Pdroid zip ( no wipe ) I made with the v1.27 auto-patcher. Everything seemed to work flawlessly for a month or so, then I started having issues that just kept getting worse: phone freezing while installing market apps then unfreezing, camera lagging, random freeze & reboots, etc. I tried fix permissions, and no luck. I wiped and tried reflashing everything the way I had, and the phone kept freezing after the faux kernel loading screen. Installing Juggernaut or another rom by itself, or a nandroid restore, is the only thing that got it past boot. Not even themes flashed over roms that they're made for get past boot. I restored my phone to stock using this method, wiped both SD cards, and re-rooted then flashed Juggernaut again, but this time I used clockwork's wipes and darkside's super wipe before flashing, but I still can't flash anything but the rom itself without a boot loop, even with fix permissions. I had a similar issue on my old mytouch Espresso; consecutive flashes seemed to almost eat away at my phone and make things worse, but that phone also had hardware issues. I'm using a new MicroSD since then. Also, if it means anything, I tried flashing the new clockwork touch from the zip on these forums after these issues started, and it never took, however, flashing through Rom Manager's after I purchased it worked fine.
Sorry about the long post, but I wanted to detail everything I've tried that I could think of before bothering anyone here. Does anyone know what could be the issue? I would really appreciate some help, because this issue is really frustrating, and I have no idea what's causing it.
Could someone help me with this please? I can try and get a log cat if needed. I'm just really hoping to get to the bottom of these issues.
I will be glad to help you out!
One big problem I see is that your not using Darkside Superwipe before flashing new roms.
So I would highly recommend you flash Darkside Superwipe first (clears all cache, partitions, ect very very thorughly) Better option than manually clearing cache and all that in clockwork mod.
Try Darkside Superwipe install the rom and see if you get any problems.
Here's how to use it if you dont know how to:

I'd like to point out that he does in fact use tdjs super wipe.
OP: have you tried other ROMs or kernels. In my past experiences, faux kernel did not meet my expectations so I moved along to another one. Give my configuration a go (refer to my signature) and let me know of the problem persists

Thanks for the replies!
techfanatic9 - I originally just wiped through clockwork ( before darkside superwipe was standard ), but now I use that too, and I'm still having those issues. I watched through the entire video just in case, and I'm doing it just like they say to.
iLeopard - I have tried Digital Warfare, but I still have the same issue when flashing things over it ( ICS Theme and/or PDroid ), even if it's supposed to be compatible, though I haven't tried kernels yet. I'll give your sig's setup a try and report back.
Meanwhile, could anything else be the issue? As you can probably tell, I've tried almost every mistake I could think of, and since my last phone had the same issue, a similar hardware issue seems unlikely.
All right, I've been running that ROM and kernel combo for a few days now. I don't seem to have any issues when I just flash the ROM and kernel, but I get stuck at the boot screen if I try to flash something else on top of it. Also, when I try to restore my text message backups through Gosms ( around 9800 texts that I want to keep ), the phone freezes halfway through the restore, and from that point on, the phone will freeze 5-10 minutes after rebooting, unless I reflash. I make sure I don't have the phone running and I leave it alone while restoring, and it doesn't help. I've only had this gosms issue since my flashing issue, and sometimes it restores fine.
Does anyone know what could be causing that?
Hello to all, I am asking for some help and advices and I think this might be an interesting problem for some of you. I can't really explain it very well, but I will try to provide as much info as I can, so let's start. Since the past 20 days, I have tried Mokee 5.1.1 Release after trying Resssurection as my first Lollipop experience and I liked it, it was stable, fluid and different. I had some bugs and issues with Ressurection which I couldn't accept, so Mokee surprised me nicely. So I arranged it all up, everything that I need and didn't face any bug or even crash for about 10 days or more. So one day I was upgrading or something like that and wiped dalvik cache and cache with TWRP 2.8.7.0. After flashing, there was that app optimization process which is normal, and after that the phone wasn't booting. It would show my wallpaper and background material for a moment or 2-3 seconds max and then rebooting again and again. So I have restored the nandroid backup and it was fine. I guess if I can remember well that I was using that backup for about a few hours and it was fine and then I did something and it couldn't reboot again and my background was blinking. So I was messing with all of that and decided to try CM12.1 R15 and Ressurection 5.3.4 i think. After wiping everything except external SD of course and flashing it, everything was fine while setting it up and restoring my apps and data. And then after some time I wiped dalvik cache and cache, for some reason I had to do it, probably to flash xcelerate kernel and boot image before it and then again the phone couldn't reboot with background blinking, so it's the same problem. But now it's even worse, when I make a nandroid backup, I can't restore it, it won't reboot which means the problem is present all the time. So I tried this :
1. Wiping everything except external SD and flashing the same or a different Rom works, but the problem appears again sooner or later after setting the ROM and apps. The last thing I tried is to wipe dalvik and other catches and rebooting few times after flashing fresh ROM without setting it up or doing anything, and everything was fine, phone rebooted every time. I am confused because I am pretty sure that the problem appeared for the first time after wiping catches and rebooting and then just remained.
2. I have tried to repair system in TWRP, didn't work. Tried wiping only system partition and catches, didn't work. So it doesn't work by wiping system, but it works after a fresh flash of a ROM. Now for the few days I am using Mokee without xcelerate and other kernels, so I guess it's not because of a kernel, which I used before when it started for the first time. I have also tried to boot without SD card, didn't work. Every time the background blinks for a few times and then it reboots from a Mokee logo, and again, and again, always the same process.
Some apps that I am using which I gave a root acess : System Tuner ( Using it only for Freezing things that I don't need, deleting things that I really don't need, managing startups, backing only apps without data and clearing cache ). For appdata I use Helium and it works every time, great program. I am 99% sure that I am not doing anything wrong with system tuner, I know what to freeze and what to delete and what to startup. And after all of that, the problem doesn't appear and appears mostly if I remember correctly after wiping Dalvik and catches. Other apps with root acess are greenify, ES file explorer, xbooster which I rarely use and maybe 1 or 2 other apps which I always use. Before I used Chainfire's SuperSU and Stericsson's Busybox too and everything was working very well till the problem appeared for some reason. I don't use xposed framework on lollipop yet if it matters. And another thing, for wallpaper I use some picture with 1600x1200 resolution or similar, but it's bigger than 1270x720. Can that be a problem ?
So, I apologize for such a long and repetitive text hehe, I am just asking what do you think why is this happening ? Should I flash a fastboot rom with MiFlash, will that fix it ? will I be able after doing that to install Mokee or another 5.1.1 rom with all my apps and settings without facing this again ? TWRP is 2.8.7.0., is this version stable enough, is that a source of a problem ?
Whatever answer I get, thanks in advance and cheers !
Hi again, I have realized what caused all of this trouble, it's a bit unusual. After flashing the stock rom via MiFlash and doing everything else, it was clear. It was all because of Apex launcher, without a custom theme. It seems that Apex was compatible with some older version of Mokee and other LP roms, but those last few updates couldn't support it anymore. Too bad, I really liked Apex, it was very practical for me with a lot of options to use, while being lightweight. Now I need to find another launcher which can offer me similar experience till Apex is updated if ever, but I am a bit sceptic. The thread can be closed, thank you.
