Firefox and the Thanks button - About xda-developers.com

I guess my html code issues were only the tip of the iceberg. XDA made some changes sometime within the past weekend that has made the Thanks button invisible to me. If I switch to IE Tab I can see it, but in my native Firefox, it is gone. I've cleared the cache, browsing history, everything, and I can't get it back. Any help would be appreciated, I can't stand Internet Exploder

Same here. I don't have the thanks button.
Firefox 3.5.16

Did this just happen to you this weekend, hav0c? I am on Firefox 3.6.13.

I'm on FF 3.6.13 and I can see the Thanks button

That's good to know - so it's got to be something going on with our own installations. I see when I switch to IE Tab that there are many ads I'm not seeing on FF (there's a reason for that - I don't do ads, I contribute) I wonder if that has anything to do with it? I use AdBlock Plus.
ETA Ha! It is there, it just isn't visible until you hover over where it should be! Veerry interesting......but stoopid (only old folks like me will recognize that quote )

For the record, the Thanks button has magically reappeared. Nothing was done on my end to make it so.

i can't see it but pointer changes to hand from arrow when i hover in the right place... had to look this thread up to find the right place!
google chrome v 9.0.597.102
mac os 10.6.6 snow leopard build 10j567
a mystery to me... although I feel a little better to see I'm not the only one - was terrified for a moment there that I was losing my mind!

No, you haven't lost your mind, and it will magically reappear at some point - no one here will explain why, though. It seems to have something to do with server load, from what I can tell.

iam on firefox 4 with windows 7 and i cant see "thanks" button either.............any progress in solution for this?
on my iPad i can see thanks button so i think it is firefox related problem ???

If you can see this image then you should see the button...

If neither of them show you the thanks button then there's something strange going on.

[ Idea ] TF3D Notes Page

One app I keep using a lot of the time is the notes application.
Just to quickly jot something down, or to look up something I wrote earlier.
It would be great if there were a new tab integrated into Touchflo (or Sense, whatever)
I know how to do a bit of programming of my own, but no idea how to create something which would add a new tab to another program such as TF3D.
But yeh, I'm just putting the idea out there.
Please comment if you like this idea.
I hope someone out there will find the time to attempt making this, as it would be a great addition for Touchflo.
Heres a little mockup I made:
(sorry for the poor graphics)

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Select notes along the slider on the right.
To make a new note, slide to the top one (which is blank)
start drawing on it.
Press the tick button, bottom right to save
To delete, slide to the note you want to delete, then click the delete
button, bottom right.
Thanks Dude, This is totally awesome imho....
very nice idea..
I would also add the functionality of reminder...
Sometimes I need to remember something that Ill quickly note but then even forget to look at it...
so very good idea if reminder was added too...
Are there any DEVs feeling the same?
Thats a great idea.
I agree. That would be a nice thing to have
sorry to go off topic, but where did you get your tray skin for 6.5.1?
Thanks for those who've replied, I really hope a dev actually does something like this.
The skin is the one that came with the ROM im using.
Cant remember what the ROMs called though.
Won't be possible sorry.
As far as I understand it, the code for manilla isn't released by HTC, so attempting to add a tab would be impossible?
You sure its not possible?
A new tab has been made before you know :/
Check this out
If you could find a notes today plugin program you could use the manila today tab program you referenced.
That is not a "tab" persay. It displays the today screen and therefor you can show a today plugin, but not add any specific manilla features.

Mouse hover popups

I find the mouse hover preview popups quite annoying. They cover up way too much data in adjacent lines. There should be a client option to turn it off. Could someone look into this, please?

When you are in a forum such as rom development and you hover over a thread title, a preview of the thread pops up.
I think that is what he means.

Yep, Denco7, that's what I was talking about. I spent a few hours with Google looking for a way to disable it but it turns out to be a server side thing in the HTML.

Wow, that is large! Glad I've never run into that large popup...
Funny never really noticed them as have to hover over rather than scroll over to see, think the best way to get around it is just to scroll in the blank between subject & rating if they are frequent.

Yeah, I know where the safe zones are but I like to use the cursor as a place holder while I read. There is a way in the site HTML that allows the client the option to turn those obnoxious pop-ups off and I would like the webmaster to look into it. But really, who in the heck needs them in the first place?
They look like nothing more than the ALT text on the HTML links displaying the first few characters of a post. The problem looks to be the use a line breaks that cause them to run over a few lines. If you use these in somewhere like the Q&A forum it's quote handy to get an idea of a post before you click on it.
I use it all the time to try and decide if I can help before I go clicking to go in and then going back out.

[Q] XDA Developers Website & Chrome

So is anyone else having major issues with this site on Google Chrome? Im not taking about on my phone but on my computer. I have cleared cache, cookies, updated Chrome and everything, still this site does not play well. I notice that text appears off in some areas, some buttons don't show at all, and others I can't even click on. When I load the site on Firefox everything loads perfectly, but I highly don't like Firefox, its there a fix for this?
Everything loads fine for me on Chrome

What version of chrome are you using?
I think I figured it out...if I increase or decrease the size of the browser screen by pressing and holding CTRL and toggle +/- the screen gets all funky on this site. I must had adjusted it at one point, still doesn't explain the button issues. But after I cleared everything they seem to pop up again.

The buttons below the posts are a bit jumbled in threads where the vote up/vote down icons appear, eg: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642801

Edit: Removing the outermost ul element which wraps the inner two ul elements seems to fix the problem: (First row is without the ul, second is as it is now)

Problems using Linux Firefox and Chromium to create/edit forum posts

Today Firefox decided not to let me edit one of my larger posts. When I selected edit, it came up blank. Nadda, nothing. Also tried to edit another one and it no longer does WYSIWYG.
Am I missing something new?
Also I can't really use Chromium to edit either because it doesn't support WYSIWYG at all. And when I pasted my newly edited thread content in, I lost all my hyperlinks...:silly:
I'm going to install Chrome to see how that fairs...
Edit: Tried Windows Firefox and Chrome also with no results either. Guess I'll just have to keep my post small and simple....
Hi
I am on Xubuntu 64 bit running firefox from unpack bz2 rather than from repo.
Also unpack is on its own data partition so I can image using fsarchiver.
try right hand clicking the edit button and there should be an option to "inspect element"
post that element when you can.....maybe there is a little fault in the javascript?

Actually it's too late to check. I got frustrated and cut most of the content out and put it in a text file for anyone needing the information. It was mostly background stuff anyway. I think there is a character limit, but it doesn't give a character count, so you just end up finding out when it happens.

Ok as a work-a-round on your next big post
prepare it on Linux text editor
show the format as ....but change img to u r l with no gaps....my post count too low to show it
Code:
[img]imagesrc[/img]
good luck
Sounds strange, haven't heard of this. Check which plugins you have installed, I have seen some block proper editing. If you have the issue again, check to see if you can inspect with Chrome or FF to see where the mistake might be coming in.

I've had the same result with Firefox in Windows also. I must have been a character limit thing...
From my Debloated Stock LG-G3, VS985 4G VZN
Also Firefox and Chrome editors are different. Chrome doesn't allow wysiwyg display. The button is literally missing.

Chrome Tabs Show As List

Anyone know why chrome (latest version) is showing my tabs as a list, rather than the "album cover" way they usually do? I just switched to the s9; it's this something with the phone, or maybe a new setting in Chrome?

Oh, man. I hope it's not permanent.
Thanks!
Find a fix?
Did you ever figure this out? My Galaxt Note 9, that I've had since launch, just suddenly started doing it and I hate it! I downloaded chrome beta and same thing!

Yes! Tapping the tab count now brings up a list, and swiping down from the URL/search box brings the "album art" fan of the tabs. It took some getting used to to start swiping instead.

OMG I was pulling my hair out. You've made me so happy as I could not find anyone talking about this. Did this only happen to Samsung's?
I like the new feature! Just wish I knew about it!
