It says essentially: Insert a foreign SIM-card, enter the 8-digit unlock code (which you have to buy from us), soft-reset, and you're ready. However, you get the lock only after 24 months if you got the phone together with a T-Mobile contract.
I phoned T-Mobile today (In the UK) and was told that once I've had the phone 1 month, if I call them, for a small fee (£15) they will issue me the unlock code!
same for me as well. T-Mobile uk will unlock the phone after one month. Although funnily enough they unlocked my MDA III straight away.
I did ask why u had to wait a month, and they said it was just company policy :roll:
i received the code but its a 10 digit code can any one help t-mobile sent me to contract htc and htc said go to t-mobile

Anyone found a way to unlock the mda pro already? all i hear is that people are working on it LOL
imei-check.com is also working on it.. but 2 weeks later still no sound.

Hi everybody! I received my MDA Pro from Germany today, and it's sim-locked to th German T-mobile. I thought it would work with my local T-mob card, but it doesn't! :evil:
So I need to unlock it somehow. T-mob Ger does it for 100 EUR, which is a bit hefty, but seemded like the only choice so far. I asked the guy I bough the device from to send me the purchase receipt.
Since I'll probably soon void my warranty anyway (i.e. do the rom upgrade), I would prefer any less expensive method. Also, I don't really speak German, so getting the unlcok code from the German T-mob by phone would be a challenge anyway.
Now I read here that T-mob UK is more friendly i terms of unlocking. Do you think they would do my device, or they only do local machines? Do they check the IMEI?
Any help would be appreciated on this. Thanks!

i did try the UK tmobile office. But you HAVE to have a tmobile contract in the UK.
So i found a mate in london who had that, he called and tmobile uk said it would take 28 days, also i am sure after they take off the 15 pounds it costs they will say sorry the imei is not from a phone you bought yourself with your tmobile contract.
Holland wont do it because they check imei too.. if it is not a dutch imei code they wont do it.
I am waiting desperately for a solution and would even pay 50 pounds if someone would unlock my tmobile mda pro.
I just hope imei-check comes with a solution before xmass LOL

The thing is, I didn't buy it in a shop, but from a guy in Germany. When he sends me the receipt (as he had promised to), I will find out how it was purchased. Chances are, of course, that it was a prolongation of a contract or something like that... :roll:
If not, I will certainly try to manage the unlocking with T-mob Ger, but without speaking German, this might be difficult.

I don't speak german either -... you have to try until you get an english speaker operator (I got it on second attempt). I hope that yours was bought without a contract.

Update: I saw today that imei-check now offers unlocking for the Universal. However, it's only available as a mail-in sevice, and it's bloody expensive: 50 GBP in the UK, a lot more anywhere else (due to shipping). All this, plus you have to get it to them too... :roll:
This is not really any help for ppl outside the UK, and I read here that you can get an unlocking code there for 15 GBP from the provider, so this is not such great news.
Still, I wanted to let you know. :idea:
I will stick to the 99 EUR official unlocking from T-mob, especially since the guy who sold me the device offered to pay half of it and to get the code from T-mob. Yay!

Hi,
just a questions....after the unlocking via the unlock code from the provider, if the phone will be upgraded or unbranded (for example I would like to leave out the T-Mobile customization and change the phone software with the usual I-Mate JASJAR) maybe can it have some problems with the unlocking code?
I hope that it will not be modified

As I said before, you don't need to do that! Just use the All in one sim unlock tool which is provided - for free - ON THIS FORUM, and you won't have to pay anything.

I have contacted t-mobile, and they have been much available.
I send by email a copy of the receipt and all the data of device, and now i wait in a germany address the unlock code. I pay 99 euro.
If the seller of ebay said that mda was locked, I would have bought an imate jasjar.

At first I've to say that i'm a schoolboy from germany so my english isn't perfect yet
Yesterday i bought an mda mail (the german version of the dash) for 80€ on ebay. It's brand new, so I'm quiete happy und lucky.
Thats the good thing. The bad is: It's nelocked on T-mobile. The main reason for which i bought the mda mail is that i wan't to go on the internet and use msn pocket. In Germany, t-mobile doesn't offer any good conditions but e-plus does. That's why I want to use an eplus Simcard.
Can you guys give me any clues to unlock my mda mail? I already read some topics on this board but i've already found some threads but i think most of the tipps aren't usefull for my german mda mail.
Of course i would prefer a free solution but i don't think that that is realistic. I just don't want to pay 100€ to t-mobile

the only threads ive seen about unlocking are around here. i belive they should be useful even if its an german mda mail but hey my offer is till up for a trade

But this is how you can get an total black mda:
1) visit ebay.de
2) type in mda mail
3) switch to "smartphones" at the left side
4) Check the offers and write some friendly email. Please also mention why yout want to buy the mda (because many people from other countries betray on german ebay)
Wait a few weaks.

generally its about 30-50USD...so whatever that comes out to be in Germany Im not sure, but it IS worth the money to get it done, it will cost alot of course to get it up and running, but it increases the re-sell value of the phone tremendously, so when you upgrade to a new phone in a couple o' years, you can sell it as "unlocked" and get anywhere from 20-30% more for it just because of that!

most of the times you just get a code, but in VERY rare occasions they will give you a program...which if that is the case, you MUST upload it to the forum here....share the love my man!!! No but seriously, if it does come with a program, you really should hold onto it and upload it somehwere, it would make MANY phone users VERY happy!

the main reason why i want that one is that it is full black. seems like a dumb reason but i like the way it looks.

Hi am a virgin to ppc and windows mobile devices but i bought mda compact iv.
What i need is an idiots guide to unlocking it for either
1. unlocking for any network plus any rom
2. simple unlock for just simlock and use existing rom.
I guess i want to have it unlocked and load it up with the manilla rom or better (open to suggestions)
But i dont want to kill it in the process. If it looks too heavy ill just opt for sim unlock.
P.s virgin poster too so be easy with me lol

Your device is the HTC Raphael (I think). You should direct your questions here for cid unlock (use any rom)
Sim-unlock- you should call tmobile and tell them you're going out of country and ask for the unlock code. Tmobile US is pretty good about it, so tmobile in europe should be ok too.

In reply to ringing t mobile what should my angle be ? i mean should i pretend to be a tmobile existing customer and ask or just say i got a tmobile locked phone? i just wanna be sneaky enough to have an answer to everything they may or may not ask. And is it wise to have a real tmobile say pay as you go number in case they ask for a number ? what do you think?

I am looking to get a sim free vodafone touch pro 2 off ebay. I already have an o2 sim.
Are they easy to unlock? I have read something about qmat and goldcards?!?
If I just took it to a vodafone store would they unlock it and for how much?
On my nicked xperia (hence the sim) I used hard spl (it didn't need unlocking tho I just wanted the newer firmware).
Vodafone TP2 is already unlocked....you can stick any chip in there
