My swype recently expired so I registered with the official site for the latest version, but even after installing it still seems to be disabled. Any ideas?

What software are you running? Swype is incorporated into the latest OTA from Sprint. You shouldn't have to worry about any of that.
I'm currently running MIUI which doesn't have it incorporated. I've always ran it through apks

Ah, I didn't notice that in your sig. Sorry about that......don't have a valid apk for it anymore though since I haven't had to worry about it.
I think you just need to change the lib file.

The beep beep sound was annoying me so I went into settings and turned off audio feedback and it just started working now whether or not audio is on. Thanks for the advice guys

I gave up on swype a long time ago. It effed up waaay to much for it to be an efficient way to type. Having to go back and fix all the bad auto corrections really defeated the whole purpose of it. I can type faster on a good multitouch keyboard like Smart Keyboard Pro.
2.15 is really accurate BUT I agree with using a multi touch keyboard. It is insane how goood I am with it when I thought it would be hard.

You have to adjust the settings. I know you mean though. Wish you could delete stock swype words..

Installing swype on MIUI is a bit tricky because when it activates the license it does not always work. Try this uninstall swype and reinstall it. When it does the activation part let it finish, do not use swype. Reboot your phone then go back in and swype should work. This method worked best for me, there's another method which involves using Titanium Backup.

As a current miui user I say try the rom before u say it has so many "bugs". The only thing I'm missing is 4G but I don't need it

That's been fixed for 2 or 3 weeks for me.
well for me its stayed the same.... i have the latest version of miui (1.4.22) idk how to fix it please help
call sprint and ask them to clear your voicemail. explain that there are voicemails that got caught between phones. you might have to flash a sense rom to enter the codes the give you but they should be able to clear it off their server. worked for me. i promise! i hated it too!

I was one always afraid to jump onto MIUI. No 4G was the biggest factor against me not switching.
I finally flashed 1.4.15 and what an enjoyable experience. Since I have upgraded to 1.4.22 + Tiamat 3.3.8, it's been the quickest, best battery life, essentially the best rom i've ever used.
I suggest you give it a spin. Just nandroid your current setup, play with MIUI for a few days and if you don't like, you can always switch back.

I found it while trying to install skype...there was no install button. Just the skype app info related apps etc. In the new market it says its not compatible but obviously, we all know we can use skype fine. I can even find it on my brothers epic running srf 1.2. Is it just a gingerbread thing?

its a market thing prolly. copy the original from srf or another rom then try again

I hate the new market but everytime I try to use the old market for any period of time it force closes on me and says object not found. Does anyone have a working one?

I think that they're trying to force people into using the new one. So certain commands aren't handled as well. But I have issues with the new one not allowing me to install my paid or free apps upgrades. It's aggravating.

you are correct sir most old styles will auto update to 3.1.5 unless you have the updater frozen then it will try to push the update thru systemupdates.apk(if u freeze it your old stuff will work FYI), & it gets confused bc the old style dont like that...
& thats the best reason i got lol

Beyond unfortunate, my little brother's moment hacked onto froyo apparently can't update to the new market. -_- It was on éclair I couldn't install it and now on froyo the same thing.

I am using Market 2.3.4 on SRF 1.1.1 w/Genocide 2.0.
I have the Market updater frozen & I have no issues.
No FC's & Market works fine.
Just don't care for the new Market.

Could it be something you froze? Can I get a logcat? I've never had this problem
I'm having some of the same issues...the new market is telling me apps like facebook and google maps are "incompatable with this device"...and its so RANDOM...has anyone else had this problem...and if so did you find a solution!?!?

Woooow!...I DEFINATELY changed it down to 220 from 240 because I like things smaller and more compact...ill adjust things to stock and report back...thanks!

Definately stupid...smh, changed it back to stock and got everything to work...and even updated some apps I didn't even know were outdated...lol, also the movie tab came back in the market which dissapeared...I just thought the market knew the phone was rooted which is why it wasn there...so canging it back did actually more than I expected...thanks mane!
Here's how to get the old market back permanently.
Settings / applications / manage applications /market / remove updates
After doing this use MyBackup or Titanium to freeze the upater
Or just delete it.

Deleting the market updater seems to cause problems but the biggest problem I have with any 2.x market is that after a while it starts saying object not found. I hate being forced to use something ugly

I've never had any problems with it being deleted...except it says no connection but I had that even before deleting it. Once I hit refresh it comes back.
i also freeze the market.updater (right one?!) with TB, but after every reboot the new market comes again....
Hey guys I need. Some help....so I like swype on froyo cuz I got use to the fast writting and stuff and I was wondering how can I get that for every rom I flash...I've tried the markets *slideit keyboards* yeah they aren't quite like swype...I've also tried taking out the apk file from backup and installing it but it never work either the swype don't wok or it forcecloses..so inconclusion can someone please update me on how to do this so swype works..

Swype works fine on Gingerbread, its what I use.
If the Swype APK is pulled from another ROM, it might be the wrong version, and not compatible with GB. Easiest way to get Swype is to just sign up at the Swype beta website like the previous response stated. Then it will send the installer to your phone, which will install Swype, and you will be good to go.

So I am a big user of Swype and really like the version on the Epic Touch, however, I have noticed an issue with auto-spacing and I am not sure if anyone else is having issues. Where I am seeing issues is spacing when I try and type single letters like "i" or "a" when typing a lot. On my older phone with swype this would auto-space and start the word. Is anyone else experiencing this, and does anyone know a fix for it?
Yea, this is a known issue with this swype version. u can try installing the swype beta version or the nexus s 4g swype and those will solve this problem. Im using the nexus s 4g swype atm and its working great, plus looks nice too.

I used TitaniumBackup to manually uninstall the stock Swype. Then went here to sign up for the Swype Beta:

I tried looking for the Nexus S4G Swype version too, but no luck. I'm liking the beta though. Very sleek. Hope this helps.
