I flashed CM7 onto my Evo 4g and I love the new features but there is one feature that I used quite a bit from the stock rom and is tap to focus in the camera app. Is there a way to get the htc stock camera app for my Cm7 Evo? Also I am having trouble with the lockscreen. Whenever I awaken my evo i am automatically taken to the screen where i enter my pattern passcode. This may seem silly but I want the slide to unlock screen so that I can toggle the ringer. If i disable the passcode then the unlock screen is available. Is there a way to have both the unlock screen and the pass code screen? Thanks.
To your first question, I believe the cm camera will have tap to focus although it may not be implemented quite yet.I'm not sure if the htc camera app would work properly on cm.
Not sure about your second question though.
Camera360+ will work just fine on gingerbread, has touch to focus =D

HTC camera will not work on a nonsense ROM, it needs the htc framework to run as with all sense apps
i have tried different roms, i like the sped of cm7 but i agree the camera is was better on stock htc because i like the geotagging and timestamp, which i have not seen on cm7 or know where to adjust it. plusthe gps issue. i will try the remedy on that. but i liked plutonium, i switch between warm, dark coco, (i love dark coco's font and have yet to find it for warm or cm7)koni elite and burnt droid. i can't decide on one rom to keep, nut i am starting to look to personalize one rom that has all the stuff i like ( 4g, fast, great gps, stock camera with get tagging, and time stamp, and a dark theme.)
You will loose access to your front facing camera but the miui camera app takes really good pictures also i posted it over in the hero forums works fine on cm7 for the evo as well

i have just fully rooted my htc evo 4g and i installed evolution 8 and i love this ROM but i was wondering when froyo is officially available for the evo it will have htc sense on it and i personally hate htc sense will it be possible to remove sense completely off the Evo using a custom ROM ? i love the stock android experience i think it is the best.
It will definitely be possible to use a custom rom to have sense free froyo goodness. I agree that stock android is proving a good experience. The only thing I cant figure out is how to make the keyboard disappear when its covering something. The sense keyboard has a simple button that hides the keyboard. I'm sure I'll figure it out.
A nice unsung feature of froyo is that more of the OS is landscape friendly. The apps list and some of the settings pages are not, but the recent tasks window is for example. I wish that everything would rotate even if it was crudely done, but I would settle for everything but the home screen rotating.
A legit froyo is the missing link, I suspect, in making ROMs like evolution perfect because they should bring us a proper kernel. Slap that ***** on this ROM and voila.. everything JUST WORKS

Have you tried swiping down from the top to the bottom of the keyboard?

i use swype on my evo, and that "keyboard down" button disappointed after installing it, i've found hitting the back button also works in hiding the keyboard
Supposedly in July, but honestly, what good is a speedup if there is a 30fps cap :? I mean sure it will be good for running tasks, but I want to see the fluidity, not 30fps bull ****.
I want to get scissors cut off the HDMI connection, and go yell at HTC and say:
"I have no hdmi anymore, 30fps cap gone now plz thx"

You can also just hit the done button below the return key. It will also do it for many of the areas you have to enter text.
The only thing I would like to see more than anything at his moment is a smarter way to edit your text or select it with better precision. I give that one to Apple and the Iphone.

Hey there my phone is rooted and I'm running the new Fresh 1.0.1 Rom and I came from the Evo9 Rom running Froyo 2.2. One thing I liked about the froyo rom is that on one side it was to unlock and the other was to set the phone on vibrate instead of silent. Is there any way to change this now. I have Fresh running and I have flashed the Vanilla locks screen but currently one side is to unlock and the other is to silent and I really prever vibrate.

I think someone asked about this yesterday too, but i would love to see this too. Instead of having to unlock & even just go to a widget, i could do it right from the lock screen.
well the froyo rom that's available does this so I wouldn't think it would be to hard
I think cyanogen mod supports this. I'm sure there is a way to port it over/hack it in.

Not really. There is an app in the market (I think called lockbot) that lets you use alternate lock screens, including some that look like Vanilla.
Since this can be done by this app, I imagine someone that really knew what they were doing could make the actual vanilla lock into something that could be installed over top of sense, but I don't think it has been done.
You may just want to check out lockbot for now,

I really dislike a few things about sense, however I cant deny that my phone has been running very good with skyraider. Previously I was running cyanogen and I was loving the pure vanilla, but like I said so far skyraider is running alot better. My question is: is there a way I can get the evo or cyanogen camera on my phone now? The stock sense camera is horrible.
I also would love to have the dailer and messaging from vanilla if possible. If I have to push something through abd, can someone please refresh my memory with a step by step process how to do it. The unrevoked programs spoiled me so much I forgot how to access it.

After using the nexus camera from the cyanogen rom, it took alot better pictures due to on screen button, rather than using the track button, I also liked the option lay or alot better. The dialer and the messaging also was alot smoother and I also liked the layout better also. This rom is alot better running, but I miss some vanilla features

Took a look at it, I really just want the stock dialer, messaging, gallery, and camera. The only thing I like about sense really is the weather animations after awaking it (can't wait to see the snow one).

You know you can push anywhere on the screen and hold to take a snapshot using the htc camera...
It actually focuses and takes better pics when you do it that way, too.

Have you tried the camera with cyanogen yet. Way better all day long from htc camera.
The only thing I am missing from stock sence rom is the camera app. Is it possible to get the camera. Apk on sence to cm6.1. If so can someone help me do it

I know for fact it IS possible to do. Someone had ported the Desire's camera to a Nexus One running CM5 a while back. I'm not sure on the details. That was one of the things that sent me back to a rooted Stock rom too.

i would personally leave it be because it is tied into the framework and unless u r a dev that definatley is not a life or death situation like not recieving phone calls or something of that nature. but if u must ask toast he is team douche and works on cm for the evo he would be the best resource
Is it possible to switch out the lock screen? There is a post in the dev thread where someone has offered up a replacement but says it only replaces the 'vanilla' and not sense. If you run this ROM you have sense, right? If someone could point me in the direction where I might be able to learn more about how this may/not be possible that would be great.

I could be wrong but I think there might be a sense lockscreen apk in data/app or system/app. I'm thinking if you delete or rename that, you'll have the "vanilla" sliding tabs.

NOTE: If you do rename the WarmZ 2.2 lock screen file ---> /system/app/HtcLockScreen.apk
as mentioned by k_nivesout, you will then have the vanilla lock screen.
With the vanilla lock screen, you are going to need the vanilla clock app.
The htc sense clock app and vanilla lock screen does not play well together. You will get an alarm that goes off, and you cannot stop it until you restart your phone.
Thanks for the help. I have progressed in my quest. I have found that the lock screen I have been trying to get installed, posted by gomorrah, uses update-script that isn't compatible with CWM3 (ammend vs edify). Trying with another recovery I am now at the point of not having Launcher2 so I'm chasing that piece now.

No, I don't think the sense 3.0 lockscreen will work on a non gingerbread rom. I believe incubus is working on a warm 2.3 rom, and there is already a warm skin for synergy.
